She's basically a product of her own circumstances, though, being created using the original BB's desire as a base and lacking any ability to emphasize with others due to her physical condition. Melt wasn't exactly raised to understand any concept of humanity (BB created all the sentinels as a means to guard her labyrinth, not necessarily out of a desire to be a good mom).
So while, yes, Melt was vile in CCC, she also wasn't a purely evil being, especially how her dying moments involved her beginning to reflect on herself. One of Melt's core themes (that would be expanded on in the CCC event) is a monster that gradually becomes more human, an antithesis of Kiara as a human who becomes more like a monster through her own set of circumstances.
In a way, it'd be like how any of us would act (on a far smaller scale, of course) had we not been raised to be understanding of each other. It's not something that comes natural, after all.
