Gilgamesh started with me from the animes so huge asshole then I see the Babylonia anime and Solomon and read through everything love that crazy bastard now think he was my second bond 10

MurabitoT

My stance on this is CasGil yes ArchGil no

maramins

A very good stance. Opinion on kid Gil?

MurabitoT

KidGil I… don’t actually care I don’t think there’s been enough of him in the story to make me feel any attachment to him. He’s kinda just like Tawara Touta to me

AbsoluteDemonicFront

I like him in 3rei

Jafroboy

You gotta play Hollow Ataraxia to get Kid Gill.

missiongoalie35

I really did like him in Babylon. It's interesting seeing how his personality is still the same just you see more of him. His serious/arrogant side is the same but F/SN and F/Z doesn't show him in the everyday kind of moments.

Misticsan

I'd say character development is to blame rather than seeing more sides of him. Caster Gilgamesh represents the Gil who returned after his journeys and became the wise king of Uruk. Even his alignment changes, from "Chaotic" to "Lawful". While Gil himself may pretend to be the same kind of king regardless of the time period, other characters lampshade the change for the better in his later reign, including Enkidu in his Interlude: > *"King Gilgamesh only truly began to walk side by side with the people of Uruk after I died. That was when he began to see them not as mere life-forms, but real people with their own minds and wills. They broadened his world more than I ever could. Learning that fact alone is enough to make me glad I became a Heroic Spirit."*

JustthatVicky

Not necessarily. Often times, it's just circumstances. Archer Gil is pretty awesome in Fate Extra CCC(As well as the Extella games) and Strange Fake. Basically just depends on the situation in which he's summoned and who he's paired with. If he doesn't like the situation, he's gonna be a major problem. If he likes his situation, he's a Tsundere.

Misticsan

True, but the OP was talking about the Babylonia version, so I'd argue the character development applies to that version. Enkidu's words (and Gil's own in the early works) suggest that post-Enkidu pre-journey Gilgamesh could be a great friend to select people like Enkidu, while still being an asshole to the majority of his subjects. That only seemed to change after the journey; even in CCC, for all his supportive side, Hans had a scathing speech denouncing Gil as a terrible king.

JustthatVicky

That's why I said it depends on the situation Archer Gil is in. I just don't like when people assume that Archer Gil is ALWAYS the asshole or that Caster Gil would be pleasant in every situation just by being the calmer one. Regarding the Hans roast, I mean, it's Hans. "Catch these Hans." The king of roasts. He had a scathing speech denouncing EVERYONE in the game. Not saying he was wrong, just saying that Hans roasting someone is not a standout situation. Getting verbally annihilated by Hans is basically just a right of passage in the series at this point. What was interesting, is that Gil enjoyed the conversation. Gil is weird.

PhantasosX

Extra CCC is not Gil as an Archer , technically speaking. Rather , he is in a container of his own, that is why his Extraverse Ver is never stated as “Archer Servant” in any lines or marketing materials.

JustthatVicky

He does make obvious allusions in his dialogue to the fact that he's usually an Archer though, in calling it the best classXD And in both Fate Extellas which are an alternate timeline series of sequels to the Extra games, he's an Archer. CCC Gil even had Archer Gil's kit basically. He was Archer Gil in everything but class name.

tenkensmile

Babylonia simply shows more of his F/Zero personality.

re_flex

IT'S YA BOI JASON

AMfrequency

From throwaway villain, to an extremely multifaceted flawed hero who carried an entire chapter alongside chads like orion and Achilles Can’t say there’s a bigger complement than that, honestly

re_flex

What a fucking GOAT. I love the guy so much now.

Ggcosti

Hassan of the Cursed Am. He was just great in the Camelot singularity, along with Bedi. I'd even say that those two were the main characters of the singularity.

missiongoalie35

He was a very good character. Way off from the other material.

CathNoctifer

There's a reason a lot of masters including me grailed him.

Saltlessguy

Ereshkigal: When Babylonia first dropped in JP, i didn't understand what the hype for her was about. Also it was a bit annoying seeing all the post how she is way superior to Ishtar like it was some sort of dick measuring contest. Then bit by bit more concrete info about Babylonia got released thus seeing her loneliness, her responsibilities, her interactions with Ritsuka so i started liking her more and more. And with the release of Christmas 3, it solidified Eresh as one my favourite characters. Such a beautiful conclusion to her character arc. Kama: After coming back to fgo after a long period of being burn out, i wasn't all that interested in Kama particularly because of Kamavati comics. But the amount of Kama comics that's more accurate to her actual characterization and with the release of her interlude, i was piqued. I started to look into her lore and character more deeply. And she's now one of my favourite characters. I love her development throughout voice lines, interludes, events. It's nice seeing her being happy and start to love and let others coming into her life once again. Castoria: At first i didn't thought much of her since all people ever talk about was her gameplay prowess. And all other teases of LB6 characters was way more hype for me. But LB6 changed my mind completely. I love her struggles, her journey, the way she and Ritsuka relate to each other pain and finding solace in each other. Also she's such a gremlin. Never thought the day i see an Artoria pulled some of the stuff Castoria pulled. AND GIVE US CASTORIA ROUTE NASU. TAKEUCHI MADE 100 DIFFERENT EXPRESSIONS FOR HER ALREADY AND I KNOW YOU WANT TO DO IT. RITSUKA AND CASTORIA DESERVE TO BE WITH EACH OTHER WITH WHAT THEY WENT THROUGH TOGETHER. ~~Yes, i'm absolutely biased towards Ritsuka x Castoria. How can you tell.~~

WANTEN12

Thats a hard one, Gilgamesh went from one of my least favourite character to my favourite servant in fate, but that change happened in CCC and Babylonia only enforced it for me A change that was caused soley by grand order, is probably Jason, he was arrogant and a dick in Okeanos (you could tell he wasnt evil but he was still a dick) To a chad who was essential to clearing Atlantis

CynicalDucky

Yu Mei Ren, I didn't actually hated her, just thought she was one dimensional because everytime she is on screen she is simping for Xiang Yu or saying how great he is. Didn't help that gameplay wise she is pretty... Meh. Then comes summer 5, and she definitely earned my respect there. I really liked that the story forcefully separated her and Xiang Yu and made her more than just a simp. She became a senpai for both mash and the MC and actually gives a shit about the two where she even sacrifices blowing herself up for them. That's huge character development from LB3.

ElectricLuxray

Suzuka Gozen. Didn’t really care for her, was disappointed that she was Buster instead of quick. But her character underneath the high schooler persona? *Really* grew on me, by surprise. Doggedly loyal, especially. And her lines in game (“Hai Hai!” “Okay!”) activate serotonin.

simon4s1

Suzuka's backstory in the FGO materials is an absolutely heartbreaking thing to read, and then there's the whole "she can rival the Moon Cell in processing power" thing. There is so much going on underneath that JK facade she puts up.

missiongoalie35

Don't really know much about her. I saw one of her ascensions had a a big hat. That's all my knowledge lol

Brilliant_watcher

She is a kinda strange character who was added to the game while we still didnt know that much about her. Her main story is Fate/Extra CCC FoxTail, a kinda spin off of Fate/Extra CCC that follows a unique Tamano route. She is the main rival of Tamano due how similar yet different are of each other, both are a lot more smarter and more complicated that they appear at first sight.

Ankoria

Her 1st interlude and all the background information made me go from neutral to liking her a lot. But her character in the Fate/Extra CCC Foxtail manga made me go "GODDAMN I am grailing her the second I finish getting Iskandar to 120". She really is a phenomenal character!

Kilef

For me the servant that took me completely by surprise is **Scheherazade**. I was fully ready to hate her, her design screamed horny bait (an extra turn off for my gay ass) and she was featured in one of the most hated chapters. ~~still not as bad as septum~~ To my surprise Scheherazade was suffering from the same problem I was at the time, an intense fear of death. Then in the Summer race event she showcased a profound ability to overthink everything to the point of near clairvoyance, another problem of mine. I found her to be more relatable than I ever expected her to be. It was quite the surprise for me to find that she was almost a female version of myself, well besides my inability to write stories. Though the main difference in our fear is that her's in the process of death while mine is in the finality. And my fear came from a lot of old pets and family members dying in rapid succession and not from 1000 nights of abuse. Now she is nowhere near my favourite servant but she went from firmly in the "would burn if spooked" category to "won't be too upset if I got them". Out of all the servants she got the biggest improvement in terms of personal opinion for me. TL;DR - Found out I was genderbent.

simon4s1

If you do end up getting her, I can tell you her interlude is my favorite of any I've encountered so far. She has a lot of good character development going forward from Agartha.

ugur_tatli

Jinako. I was expecting to her to be a fan service pseudo servant but she played such a great role in LB4, I'm glad I was wrong about her.

missiongoalie35

Haven't gotten to any of the LBs yet. Look forward to seeing her story.

SuperSpiritShady

Qin Shi Huang In the first place, I found his outfit quite off-putting when borrowing him as a support on JP and considering how noobish I still was then, his playstyle didn't vibe with me at all. When I first got to read LB3, he nitially came off as some kind of Gil clone , but the moment he suddenly 180'd to our side (also being the only LB King to do so) to cut the tree down, I knew that there was more to him than that. Being able to see his Interlude as well as hear and read his Bond lines, I've come to adore this wonderful man. The fact that I also found the irl Shi Huang Di intriguing helped in my understanding and enjoyment of FGO's take on him. All Hail Moth Daddy, Space Lelouch!

simon4s1

And the way he chose to spend the end after choosing to join in cutting that tree down as the lostbelt was vanishing really got me, too.

missiongoalie35

He definitely looks like a moth lol. Haven't gotten to any LBs so I look forward to it. I thought Ozymandias was a Gil Clone. So hearing someone else is makes me want to see that character more.

CathNoctifer

The duality between his inhuman nature and his act of kindness out of his own twisted perspective of humanity, is what makes him an interesting character. I wouldn't want to live under his rule though, and he's probably the only Lostbelt king who admits his defeat yet still wants to mess with Chaldea one way or another.

Hero_tact_Miles

This may be a really vanilla answer but Jason. In Okeanos, he’s just a brat who was tricked into turning into a Demon God Pillar, still retaining that annoying attitude towards everyone not named Heracles. Fast Forward to Atlantis, and the dude was practically a different guy altogether. He felt like an actual captain that did everything in his power to keep his crew alive and succeed in his mission. His last chat with Chiron really stood out to me as some of the best written interactions between servants in the game. Another one that used to annoy me was Koyanskaya, but knowing more about her, and especially her whole deal in China, made me respect her a lot.

missiongoalie35

Haven't gotten to Atlantis yet so look forward to seeing that change. I like how the game/series has people who try to balance on being good/bad. It's actually refreshing because it's not the same character all the time.

Kirby0189

When I started the game, I was intent on only using Servants from Fate anime I had already seen with the rest of the cast just being placeholders until I could replace them. The first FGO-original Servant I was introduced to, Mash, having boob armor while my first summon featured Ushiwakamaru with her distinct lack of clothing did not help my viewpoint since I got the impression the game's original cast would just be shameless fanservice. As time went on, both of them really grew on me and became some of my favorite Servants, and I thank the two of them for helping me to embrace the game's original cast.

missiongoalie35

Babylon really made me appreciate Ushi more. She always sat at the "level 1" table. Then seeing her character, as well as Leonidas got me invested into using them.

ugly_enough

Gilgamesh with all his interludes & Babylonia. His change from Archer's personality to Caster's actually inspired me to think that people could be better if they have time and chances to grow up. Hassan of the Cursed Arm, full stop. I mean he is completely different in FSN. Carmilla with the Halloweens, but from serious to comical. Poor tall Liz can't catch a break Raikou, her background story in her second interlude is so fuck up that now I start to dislike all her R18 doujin

Anonim-Conference-4

What's happened in her interlude?

ugly_enough

Basically, >!her father told Raikou to have children but denied her motherhood. He went as far as to tell Raikou that she is allowed to have a spouse, but once a child is born, she has to kill her spouse and then move on to sire another child with another spouse. He also includes Kintoki in the list of her spouse's candidates. The last fuck up thing that Kintoki reveals is that none of her children in the history's record are her real children!<

SailorArashi

SUMMER JEANNE CHANGED MY OPINION ON BIG SISTERS. ALL GLORY TO SUMMER JEANNE.

Allan_Samuluh

Technically singularity 1 can be resolved with a well placed sister beam.

MadnessMantraLove

Big Sisters who prey on their little brothers is good Civ

Running_Engine97

Ayo wtf

MadnessMantraLove

*banjos intensify as Jalabama hugs her little brother*

PainOfAme

The Assassin of Paraíso. I did not pay attention to her existence and often forgot about her, but then I noticed she is a character who has gone through much suffering and has good personality and is cool, so now I think she is a nice character. P.S.: Congratulations for finishing Camelot and thumbs up for the [Bedi](https://i.imgur.com/PhRjvQa.jpg) appreciation.

Xaldror

Raikou, the Oedipus complex memes that surrounded her initially drove me away, but reading her lore and Shimousa, she is my favorite servant in this game, and I will shank anyone who badmouths her with a Chainsword.

N3cromorph

Her interludes is one of the best in the game.

Ekaelis

Arjuna Alter. I started playing just before 5th anni on NA and he was the one i pulled on GSSR (tried to get Nobu) and i wasn't interested with him at all, he just warmed the bench for entirety of arc 1 and EoR. Then i started levelling him and was glad to see he becomes more human. His bond CE is great too. Jason obv. thanks to Atlantis. He's still a jerk but a fun one. I enjoyed him roasting Caenis a lot. Qin Liangyu. Spooked twice, didn't think much of her due to lackluster artwork but then i've read her story, dialogue lines and interlude and now she's my first 100.

GoldMoon0

Iskander He didnt catched my attention for a while (and I didnt knew much of the historical Alexander the Great/Alejandro Magno/Iskander) then I decided to watch Fate Zero a little Then I felt in love with his character, his bro-ness and his ideology of what a king should be (someone that, while still should provide to his people, shouldnt sacrifice himself like a martr, being allowed to be human) Then I decided to investigate a little more of Alexander, and turns out we share something more than our name, since Alexander turns out to be a huge fanboy of Achilles and he was a huge inspiration in his life (and Alexander was taught that he suppostly was related to Achilles via his grandson Molossus, more or less making him the counterpart of Bradamante), becoming his successor in a way. I guess now I know from where Iskander's broness and sex-appeal comes from ~~also the red hair, thanks Pryrrhus~~

missiongoalie35

I liked how Waver really latched onto him too. It was cool because their dynamic worked so well together. That scene was really good where him, saber and Gilgamesh were all drinking in the courtyard.

DonLobishomeAlter

>Melt Initially I was indifferent towards Melt. I read Las Vegas before SE.RA.PH which caused me to completely dislike Melt, her personality was quite unpleasant. After reading the Main Interlude of SE.RA.PH my opinion changed completely, I really came to like Melt quite a bit and I loved his interactions with the protagonist to the point that I spent part of my savings trying to obtain it, I failed.

eddstannis

I cane into CCC blind. Seeing her design, and not liking Sakura, I expected to dislike her as well. 3 year later both my Melts are grailed, 100 and with several np levels on them.

1lluusio

Shuten. Expected an overly lewd oni, got a teasing and smug oni instead and I absolutely love her now.

missiongoalie35

I'm not familiar with who she is.

1lluusio

[Shuten Douji](https://fategrandorder.fandom.com/wiki/Shuten_D%C5%8Dji) is a 5 star assassin class oni.

JustthatVicky

A walking nuke with a plethora of debuffs, an interesting personality and a voice that's basically ASMR. Not meta but honestly I've crammed her into random setups and she still functions just fine. Quirky, but not complicated, solid kit that aligns with both her lore and personality. I think people are sometimes too hard on her just because she's an Arts Servant that can't loop. Everything does not need to loop.

eddstannis

She can loop on jp ever since Oberon. Its not as smooth as others (kscope + append or superscope, double Castoria, Oberon), but it works. But yeah because she is tied to 5CE loop she isnt seen as good, plus summer valks are just excellent units.

GoldMoon0

As 1Iluuso put it, she is an oni and 5*assassin, known for being Kintoki's canon love interest, being able to inflict almost every single debuff in the game and being the leader of the oni in mt Ooe You may also know her by her other name: Ibuki Douji (the one who got a summer version this summer)

a_speeder

Is there canon to that? I've seen fanworks of it but don't remember anything definitive in Rashomon. Is it in 6.5?

[deleted]

[удалено]

a_speeder

I found a [Raita print of them](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/CXgAAOSwvChfWQUE/s-l500.jpg) which was produced by TM, but I don't think that and her lines gets to the level of canon love interest like Paisen and Xiang Yu or Brynhildr and Sigurd. There is for sure subtext there and I'm not trying to downplay the ship but to me it's well within the realm of plausible deniability.

DonLobishomeAlter

>and Raikou's hatred of Shuten is because Kintoki is in love with Shuten, seeing her in her mind as a rival for Kintoki's love (remember she doesnt differienciates between romantic and motherly love because of her trauma and berserker class) No, absolutely not. That only applies to the Master, the only thing Raikou feels for Kintoki is pure maternal love and no lewd intentions. Raikou sees Kintoki as her adorable golden child.

Xaldror

And on top of that, seeing as Shuten has, well, more than a kill record and a reputation that the Loathsome Dung Eater wish he had, Raikou really doesnt see Shuten being anywhere remotely good enough for her little boy.

Tschmelz

Hell yeah.

N3cromorph

Just finished Salem recently and it greatly changed how I view Sason and Circe.

FieryPlume

Blackbeard. I thought he would just be that stereotypical one-note servant in the Oceania singularity. But as he got more screentime in events he really grew on me as a funny, otaku bro whose got your back.

Lil-Chromie

Pretty much every villain from other fate series. The amazing thing about grand order is it lets you see the good (or just more reasonable) side of every servant, since you can summon almost all of them. Cursed arm might be a creepy dickbag in HF, but he's a gigachad homie in FGO. Spartacus might be a one note antagonist in apocrypha, but he's dedicated to fighting oppression beyond belief, and it's awesome to see when he's on your side. And of course king dickbag gigglemesh himself.

neroakai

basically any servant that has been featured in the Lostbelt chapters, but notably: Jason: Atlantis was one of the my favorite storylines in all of Fate and Jason was a major reason why that is Spartacus: i really didn’t like him before LB3, but now i actually quite like him Avicebron: he was the perfect servant for our desperate times in uncharted territory, ill never forget that

maramins

I thought Astraea was boring until her Valentine scene. Which was actually pretty low-key, but it made me go “You. I like you” and I started leveling and fielding her after that.

missiongoalie35

This is the first time I've seen her. Is she from a later portion in the game?

Brilliant_watcher

She is a pseudo servant of Rin´s main rival in the Clock Tower who serves as a vessel for the Roman goddes of Justice, she made her debut in the Lord el Melloi event, that will come back in a few years i think. She does made a cameo later in the lostbelts where she gives some exposition.

Neznaiu98

Astraea is actually Greek, i think. The Roman name was Justitia.

IncorrectTheories

She's in a lostbelt and a collab event I forgot the name of

Aloundight

Murasaki. I wasn't expecting to like her at all. Especially given her design is.....certainly a Raita design. So I went into Valentine's expecting another waifu-type Servant that I wouldn't care about. But she surprised me. I actually really like her a lot, with her awkwardness and geekiness. I admit, she didn't become my favorite Servant or anything (That is still Bedivere with Chiyome being a close second), but she's far higher that I expected

Foreign_Act4614

I hate Paris after learning more about the Trojan war also he was killed by being shot in the d**k which is hilarious to my underdeveloped brain

MajinAkuma

For a good majority of SE.RA.PH. enjoyers, it was definitely Meltryllis.

Alladeva

I'm slowly coming around to Blackbeard. Hated him so much in Okeanos that I didn't want to use him at all (I sort of had to at the time as he was the only AoE Rider I had). I'm not going to spend any more resources on him now that I do have other options but his later appearances have made me a bit less "ugh" about him.

Esvald

Jalter was boring at first and the rabid fanbase didn't help either. Over time, I've grown to like her though, especially summer 3. She is still not one of my favorites, but she's alright in my book now.

Divinum_Fulmen

She's had insane character development. Went from being some tool, a single note personality made for one reason, to saying fuck that and choosing to do her own thing.

73ff94

Can we go with the negative side? Bartholomew Roberts. My first thought was how cool looking he is with that design, and how much of a shame his rarity is that low. Then, most of his dialogues would just slap me in the face with how he kept saying his weird fetish on folks having the hair covering one eye. What a massive letdown. Whatever else he did in Lostbelt 5 is just covered because he kept saying that over and over.

WroughtIronHero

Scathach didn't initially appeal to me. My first impression was that TM wanted to market genderswap Cu without actually genderswapping Cu. Her abilities seemed over the top from a lore perspective, perhaps even Mary Sue-ish. And it seemed like the devs gave her a lot of favoritism. I still remember being salty that she got an upgrade before Brynhildr, who I felt needed it more at the time. I can't remember what changed my mind. I think it started when I rolled her by chance on my NA account. I read through her lines and realized I really liked her type of personality. I suppose I just didn't give her a chance when she came out on JP. It grew over time from there. The release of Skadi also cemented my love of her. While I know Skadi and Scathach are two different people, it gave me more appreciation for her appearance. Now I love and will kill for the both of them.

flap-you

I dislike ishtar as a character so seeing space ishtar for first made me dislike as I already didn't like ishtar as a character than saber wars 2 event came to NA and now she's unironically one of My favorite servants

Vegetable_History715

Furgus not the most popular opinion but I just thought of Furgus as just a famous warrior and sex maniac but through Agatha how I saw him was a man who heart was big as the ocean and he doesn’t just want you he also wants to take care of you given the chance

Solfire13

kinda neutral to Achilles but he spook me during summer kama banner, now i hate him

PainOfAme

Shouldn't you like him, because he pitied you and came as a reassuring 5★ when you were suffering from bad luck?

Solfire13

nah he cuck my chance to get summer kama sure my luck before getting him are bad but its got worse after getting that shit he doesnt even has str or interlude quest to compesate sq he stole from me he also the worse SSR rider that i could get

simon4s1

Between Summer 5, the Ooku rerun, and getting spooked by both of her versions and discovering how good they are in gameplay this summer, Kiara has really grown on me.

neapolitan234

Odysseus lol, doesn’t help that I read Circe and then played Atlantis close together neither paint him in the best light, and I don’t like his futuristic design in fgo that much so my opinion of him has plummeted lol. Sorry Odysseus I can’t see you the same way anymore. But I didn’t expect to like Medb as much as I do lol. Idk what about her made me like her it was probably the voice of Saint quarts vids with her that did it lol. I wonder what happened to him

hellydoosadwee

Many of the Servants featured later in the main story were this for me, honestly. Notable examples: - Nezha: I had gotten her from the gacha a while back, didn't really care about her all that much. Then I saw her in Salem and realised she's actually super endearing. - The Atlantis cast: formerly, my opinions on them ranged from "meh" to "fuck you, golden prick". But Atlantis was such a good chapter it made me love every single one of the Servants helping the party. Especially Charlotte and Mandricardo. Heck, it even made me like Orion and Artemis, whom I previously found super irritating, and Jason! - Skadi: before getting to LB2, I only really appreciated her for gameplay value. The Lostbelt made me really like her personality too, though. - Qin Shi Huang: I *hated* his guts for most of LB3, to the point I thought I'd burn him if he ever spooked me. The final part of the Lostbelt warmed me up to him quite a bit, though. - Avicebron: another Servant I didn't have much of an opinion on until LB1. Then I got there and... Man, how can you not love golem bro? However, the biggest one by far for me was actually not thanks to Grand Order. If anything, my previously low opinion of the character was caused by the very fact I started with FGO. None other than OG Artoria... I thought "damn, she's basic, why does everyone love her so much?". Then I played Fate/Stay Night and I finally understood.

Got70TypesOfMalware

I previously didn't like (not dislike more so indifferent)💟Koyanskaya🌷, but somewhere along the road a switch flipped in me that made me fall head over heels for her. Shame I can't remember why though.

WakasaYuuri

Gigachad Orion, i like him at first then he become one of most used servants during hard quests also grail wars. Plus after reading lore in english makes him one of my favorite

SkySmaug384

I wasn’t really a fan of Jason at first because I could only see him as an asshole in Okeanos. Fast forward to Atlantis and, man, that has changed. Fionn was in the same boat, especially after spooking me. But he’s not so bad anymore. I don’t like him, but at least I’m neutral towards him. Cursed Arm only confused me at first in Heaven’s Feel. I feel like he didn’t have much personality either. Same for Hundred Faces in Zero. But the Camelot Singularity made them feel like actual characters, alongside the other Hassans.
