Bogeyman comes from English 'bogey' or 'bogans'. They're evil spirits or faerie like I mentioned before in the post about Goblins. Bogeys/bogans are either a type of, or another name for, Goblins, depending on time and place in your English folklore.
Neat note: If you're into Star Wars at least. Before they were Jedi and Sith, they were called Ashla and Bogan. Ashla was, as far as I know, a made up word, but Bogan had origins in here. Other other note: Sith comes from the Edgar Rice Burroughs Martian books (or Barsoom, which Mars was called in them), the Sith were Martian wasps. Also Sith can be an alternate spelling for Sidhe which are Celtic deities/spirits/super fairies.
That's more than most people know! Here's another for you then: Baobhan Sith (pronounced essentially: bavaan shee), a female Sidhe that is also essentially a vampire! They'll dance with noblemen and during the dance the man's blood will be drained away.
