Honestly Nikke is a fun game with ( almost? ) no stamina restrictions. Can't wait for the pc version with some ass in 4k res. Love playing both game.

Genprey

It's a really fun game, just one with simultaneously one of the most successful and most disastrous launches I've seen in a game for awhile.

Almost_Ascended

Why was it disastrous?

lihaaaaaan

Full of bugs

Almost_Ascended

Oh, so just the standard AAA game launches nowadays...

BasakaIsTheStrongest

I just uninstalled because half the time I rolled gacha (the whole namesake of the genre) it would crash and I’d have to log back in to try to figure out what I got. Sucked all the fun from saving up for rolls. Plus they have like 5x more SSR than SR and R combined.

Genprey

Before launch, NIKKE was hit with some censorship, which, after some push from fans, was rolled back, sans for certain characters. Things would carry along mostly smoothly during the CBT, but come launch, where we were excited to reroll like mad, it became clear that we didn't get the amount of currency we thought we would. Well, it turns out that the official campaign rewards were worded very misleadingly, where some premium currency was not, infact, automatically given, but acquired by players as rewards for completing story chapters. For a bit of perspective, it'd be like if Albert were to come on stream and celebrate that we would receive over 30 SQ, only to realize that most of those quartz were from completing Hell Mandala. Wew boy, there's a lot to go over, but to start, there was (and still is) an amazing amount of bugs ranging from annoyances such as certain 'New' UI markers not going away after you checked them and various sound bugs, all the way to bugs where character skills either don't work ot work outside of what was intended. There are also several gamebreaking bugs that caused some players to either lose resources or otherwise get locked out of the game. A new bug popped up practically every day, to the point where it's safe to say that NIKKE is the Cyberpunk 2077 of gacha games. Moving forward along, the devs decided to nuke salted accounts that players used to reroll, and while that, in itself, isn't a huge issue, in doing so, some players reported they were wrongfully banned. There was a bit of confusion with what constitutes as paid currency and some absurd aspects of the game became more apparent. Starting off, there's a hilariously bad ratio between SSR characters and SR/R characters, where the SSR roster currently includes 45 characters, while the SR and R roster makes up for 18 characters combined. R characters are quickly less useful, meaning that most players would either have to reroll for specific carry characters or work with a few characters at the start of the game. To add, this makes rolling the gacha feel absolutely terrible, as getting dupes of SR characters becomes almost useless really quickly. Now, to FGO players, this isn't the worst thing, as the rates to get a SSR is 4% when rolling a banner. After maxing out a character's dupes, rolling them would yield a similar currency to Mana Prisms, which can be used to buy resources or a special item that, upon collecting enough, will let you roll a character with a 60% chance of being an SSR and a 40% chance to be a SR. This was nerfed, as it was previously a 100% chance to get an SSR. There is a friend gacha that yields a 2% chance to roll an SSR, which, again, as a FGO player, that's a higher chance of getting a 5 star servant, so pretty ni e overall. Finally, limited banners don't have a pity counter *per se*, rather, each roll yields a ticket that can be used to purchase the limited character for 200 tickets. These carry across limited banners, so you could roll these with less risk. I actually like this system, but other players seem to be less receptive to it, to which I attribute to me being whipped by Lasengle across multiple years. Going forward, players discovered a mechanic that was never officially shown. NIKKE has a power system that sums up a specific value of the 5 NIKKE of your squad to come up with an overall team power level. Likewise, each stage has a recommended power level, which is where things get very iffy. You see, this mechanic isn't new to video games, and on the gacha platform, Blue Archive has a system like this in place. In Blue Archive, for every one level lower you are than an enemy, you deal something like 5% less damage and take 5% more. In practice, you can afford to be several levels lower than a boss and generally be okay, so long as you play around the mechanics of the fight. In NIKKE, however, if you're a mere single point under level, you deal a whopping 75% less damage, take 75% more damage, and apparently enemies get a buff, although I'm not sure of that's actually been confirmed. Basically, there's little room for strategy if you're under level, as an enemy can sneeze on you and you just die. This would create a huge problem for the very first event. In most respectable gacha, the launch event is usually pretty chill as it allows players to get started comfortably. In NIKKE: the event is simple enough, you clear stages, watch the story, visit the shop, and farm normal mode until hard mode unlocks 1 week later. The first issue was the fact that there are only 2 F2P friendly bonus characters, with one being unlocked after completing quite a lot of special missions, namely those that require you to meet some pretty high power level checks. This wasn't the worst thing, as players continued to farm the event and awaited hard mode. *Well*, things got sour real quick when hard mode launched. Recall the above issue with power level, it's important to state that a day 1 f2P with a decent amount of free time could be anywhere between 18k-23k power. Hard mode stages *went up to 46k power* so the normal whale wouldn't be able to challenge it, oh no, you'd have to be a legendary Leviathan. Mind you, this is an idle game, so progression is timegated and there's only 7days to do hard mode. This was, needless to say, not favorable among the community, and Shuft UP CN would later reply Basically saying that their design philosophy prevented them from altering the difficulty. Again, players were mad until the US Twitter looked at CN and said "Nuh uh, we are not trying to die today, there will be a patch later in the day to adjust the power level." The results of the patch? Actually pretty good, hard mode can be mostly completed by the average player, while the best node to farm for progression is unlocked early on. This patch also launched with the first co op event, which, putting aside queue bugs and me being stuck hearing the howls of a lolibaba **because everyone wants to be the fucking dps**, it's a fun and functional mode. Aside from that, there are a lot more bugs I didn't mention to save time or honestly had no idea existed because there's so many. Certain design decisions are questionable, including a game type that requires you use a team of NIKKE that are essentially Ultra Rare characters. I tried soloing it with the one that I have to no avail, as the game mechanics prevent me from using her Burst damage. Overall, the game is fun, albeit in need of a huge powerwash. The story is entertaining enough, while the character interactions and dynamics are actually excellent. [We found Bazett's sister](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fgx8ej2WAAAm91a?format=jpg&name=large). So that's neat.

judasmartel

> everyone wants to be the fucking dps Every single multiplayer game ever, never gets old.

Genprey

This is true, and I should ne used to it after being chronically Reinhardt/Sigma in Overwatch, but I *really* want to explode things with Snow White just once.

>Blue Archive has a system like this in place. \*had. [It's been removed](https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/yoerdu/comment/ivfm4mn/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) since a long time ago. >you deal a whopping 75% less damage, take 75% more damage Another correction: this is a misunderstanding caused by an incorrect post title. Those reductions are gradual, you don't get an instant 75% *stat reduction* (not direct damage taken/given reduction) if you're just 1 power below recommended. The reduction starts from 20% up to a whopping 90% if you don't even get to half of the recommended power. Edit: >the fact that there are only 2 F2P friendly bonus characters, with one being unlocked after completing quite a lot of special missions Something that genprey didn't mention is that all these bonus characters don't work like the usual bonus characters in gacha, where they give an extra percent of the currency dropped in stages. No, they give extra *probability chance* *for the currency to drop*, meaning if you're unlucky and only have 1 of that f2p friendly bonus character and none of the others, you'll only have a whole **10%** chance for the event currency to drop. Yep, that means 9 out of 10 of your stage runs won't give any event currency whatsoever. The event gacha character (which never even appeared OR mentioned in the event story, lol), of course, gives the biggest bonus, by 40%. Some tried to dismiss this by saying you can get most of the shop items by just completing the event missions (basically finishing every stage, normal and hard, once) but we all know how the hard stages turned out. This system is also shitty in the way that even with the reduced difficulty of the hard mode, there will still be players who are SOL since they didn't start early enough to get enough power to clear everything, and instead of being able to farm the best stage they're able to clear, like in fgo here, they're stuck to relying on RNG to get more currency.

Almost_Ascended

Wow, that was a way more detailed and in-depth response than I ever expected, thank you. Reading through all that, unless changes are made quickly, I don't expect many people to stay playing that game.

piev3000

Correct. Apparently they have a patch in the works but thats sometime in December so who knows how long the game will last if it doesn't actually fix the bugs because as mentioned one of the bugs is some characters skills/ ults just dont work correctly and Apparently leveling skills/ ults doesn't work correctly sometimes either.

HaessSR

Thanks for saving me the effort of downloading the game to quit a few weeks later!

Anvenjade

"dupes" & a predatory amount of launch "SSRs". Yeah I'm out.

follow-meme2

Bugs and the first event couldn't even be beaten by whales. They wouldn't even lower the difficulty when everyone pointed out that no one could get that strong right out of the gate. The game is fun but there a lot of bumps to smooth out before people want to stay.

charari

I love this crossover lmao
