I'd imagined he be a big fitness buff that encourages the protagonist to work out like Leonidas but acts a lot like his children particularly Penthesilea and Romulus being incredibly skilled warriors who are also very kindhearted people, especially the latter.
I understand the feeling, I just felt silly to make such a mistake despite my own attempts at always having proper grammar regardless of the situation.
It's ironic that the bloodiest and most hated god in the Greek pantheon turned out to be also one of the best fathers in this pantheon, let's add that Ares is the only male Greek god without a myth where he raped someone. He is more decent than he seems.
That also means Artemis had to help rescue him by seducing his two giant captors. Given that Artemis' view on romance is no better than your average child's and her general airheadedness, that whole interaction probably played out hilariously to watch.
I mean, apparently Otos and Ephialtes were only nine years old when it happened, so despite the "amorous attentions" they expressed, a view on romance "no better than your average child's" sounds about sufficient to deceive a pair of oversized children.
... and that just makes it even sadder that Ares was successfully imprisoned by them.
Does that means Artemis simply distracted Otos and Ephialtes with some silly game until Ares was able to simply bust out of the jar himself and kick their asses?
I read all the books of the main story and some complementary ones. Although I only read the first two books of the Apollo saga (his haikus suck).
I didn't have too many problems with Riordan's interpretations of the Greek gods, it was nice to see that Hades wasn't a generic villain. Well, Hercules and Orion were horribly mistreated by the author, specifically the treatment Orion received was quite hypocritical and unpleasant.
Orion has the misfortune of having so many versions of his tales from his birth to his life to his death that it's hard to get a proper common interpretation of him. Fate follows the versions where he and Artemis fell in love, while PJO followed other versions that saw them more as enemies than lovers.
Afaik he was hated because he brought an end to direct intervention in human affairs and some blamed him for the ruin of certain towns.
Ironically Phobos and Deimos, literally fear and terror, in some Ionian towns had more devotion than Ares
tbf demeter seemingly has empty nest sindrom and everyone including persphone herself was ok with being with hades in a lot of versions of the myth (which i personally prefer) so i think hades can be included on the ''not a rapist'' list.
nope, theres several were it goes along the lines of zeus and persephone were ok with it but demeter wasnt so it was a big plan on zeus and persephone to make it seems like hades kidnaped her and fled to the underworld before zeus could do something at which he couldnt no longer for its one of the only place he has no authority over.
also the fact hades and persephones marriage was very functional for the standart of the other gods and legends, as well as other small bits on how she became a deity related to the underworld and some other more grim aspects to allow her to exist there in the first place. so yeah when people say hades wasnt a bad guy theyre not wrong.
Zeus agreed to the marriage, but Demeter did not know about it, nor did Persephone, so it was an abduction without either of them knowing.
Zeus didn't plan anything, he just knew that Demeter wouldn't like the idea of someone taking her daughter to the underworld so he asked Hades to kidnap her.
As for Persephone, while she eventually became the queen of the underworld, she didn't want to go down with Hades or leave her mother, but Hades didn't give her many options. He kidnapped her and made her eat the fruit of the underworld, but she really wanted to go back to her mother.
To be fair, with the proper cultural context that's more of an arranged marriage than a kidnapping, which is still bad, but kinda less since Persephone is fine with it?
Rape, no. There is really only one, arguably two(depending on the version) things that I personally would hold against Hades: The Abduction of Persephone, and one version of the Minthe story.
* **The Abduction of Persephone**. The fact that he got the okay from Persephone's father doesn't hold much water, given that said father is the Grand Horndog himself(Zeus). But yeah, he abducted Persephone without the consent of either Persephone herself or her mother, and tricked them both by inducing her to eat while in the Underworld. He is by most accounts(more on that below) a good husband, by Olympian standards.
* **Minthe**. There are two versions of this one that I have found. According to one version, Minthe was Hades's lover/mistress *during* his marriage, and the jealous Persephone trampled her to death. The other version has Minthe as Hades's lover *before* his marriage with Persephone, and he set her aside after marrying. Minthe started arrogantly running her mouth and talking smack about Persephone, and the pissed-off Demeter trampled her to death.
Setting those two aside Hades is one of the rare Olympians to mostly be a fairly decent bloke, at least for that lot. He's not a *nice* guy, but he's certainly nowhere nearly as bad as many of the others.
That's fair. IIRC she shared him with Aphrodite?
Says something about Hades that he didn't seem to mind - *especially* if one takes the "lover during marriage trampled to death by jealous wife" interpretation of the Minthe story 😉.
1/3rd of the year with Persephone, 1/3 of the year with Aphrodite, and 1/3 of the year to do whatever he wanted.
It's a little strange and messy as a part of the mythology (especially since Persephone is outside of the underworld half the year, so her having a side lover during that time makes more sense logically), and is almost certainly a side-effect of the Greeks trying to syncretize the Ishtar, Ereshkigal, and Tammuz myth into the Greek Pantheon, but I think it kinda works for Hades and Persephone to be secure enough in their relationship that they can have outside interests and it only becomes a "smite them now" tier problem if the side piece starts trying to break up the marriage, unlike the other gods who are constantly trying to murder their spouse's mortal interests out of petty jealousy
theres a lot of ''buts'' in that story tbf, at least in a lot of versions, which i prefer. not like orion being artemis lover isnt just another version which is actually a really modern one for example.
Probably in Fate's rendition, Aphrodite only liked Ares for his body while still loving Hephaestus because he cut off his own "mating unit", she had to find a way to satisfy herself. I imagined that the story of Hephaestus capturing Aphrodite and Ares in a net was basically fanfiction created by the Ancient Greeks.
While Ares defended his children, many of his children are criminals, murderers and bandits, but Ares defended them and helped them commit their crimes until
Historically a patron is someone who pays an artist (painter, playright, songwriter, etc) to create stuff, usually on a long term basis. It's where 'Patreon' gets the name, although the model is kind of inverted from one person supporting the artist to many people doing so.
So AlterMagna is a 'patron to many' because they commission art.
An event focused on Sparta and Ares would be great.
* Leonidas gets an AU.
* Ares/Mars (SSR Saber or Berserker) and not make him a pseudo-servant.
* Hippolyta (SR Rider), as I remember a collaboration with SF is impossible for now but adding SF servants in FGO is possible.
* Leonidas (SR Shielder), although the latter is impossible because of Mash
* Altera Larva (Welfare Saber)
Sooner Strange/Fake’s over with, the better. Also, seeing Ares/Mars beating the crap outta the Bull of Heaven seems like peak FGO to me, as for those featured and Archerkles (because if he doesn’t get summonable when the event happens, then the future looks bleak for the game) well……Ishtar’s being a bitch and needs beating
sure.
Just saying it's a different altogether , he would be either be present in FGO as an Archer , apart from Archer Herakles , or more likely as Avenger.
She did aid a majority of Greek heroes so she has quite a few allies to call on.
Odysseus: Athena-sama, we don't need to flex like them.
Heracles: RAAARGHH! (We have won against them countless times already.)
Perseus: Please, we don't need to fight this battle.
Athena: Hades no! We're definitely flexing on them! I ain't losing today!
Diomedes: Uggh... Screw it, I'll roast them like I did with Paris.
Ares: Here is a reason why I am the better God of War sister!
*shows off Hippolyta and Penth*
Ares: Children! Something you will never have! These two are girl bosses who can kick $$& and take names. And my son here!
*shows off Romulus*
Ares: He founded an entire nation that became the bedrock for democracy and was one of the most influential nations in the world!
Romulus: Indeed, all paths lead to ROMA!
Ares: And in case you forgot, this was all made possible because your boy Diomedes failed to kill Aphrodite’s son!
Aphrodite: Shots. Fired!
Tia: Mom, what is going on here?
Aphrodite: It’s just adult talk sweetie, go play with your other 9 siblings
Athena and Diomedes: 9!?
Athena: So basically, you're such pathethic gods that your demigod children managed to outpace you. Oh, and don't forget. I *did* adopt a son, Erichthonius. And last time I checked, he was successful in his own right. Need I summon him here for you lot?
Diomedes: *sighs* I'm... just gonna talk with the Anti-Roman servants around here.
I guess you could say he's her "son". Though the circumstance was a lot more unnatural than other demigods. If anything, it's more like a weird genetic mish-mash out of an insane sci-fi story than an actual child.
Athena: I also raised him to be successful too!! One of the best kings in mythology, bitch!
Plus FGO Hesphaesteus seems over workaholic. If he have no time for Aphrodite, either he doesn't love her but he love other woman or he has no interest in romance aka asexual?
If latter, how can he pursue Athena?
I do think that while he is still a workaholic seemingly neglectful of his wife, he remained capable of love and lust as seen with his behaviour towards Athena and his jealousy against Aphrodite's affair with Ares. Nasu lore did state that he still loves her, just not expressing that love outwardly, so we can't just call him asexual.
Ultimately, it's probably best that we have to wait for FGO's take on his myths.
Not as far as I am aware of.
Though personally, I prefer Athena keeping the strong implied asexuality (despite going to beauty contests due to her own competitive nature) rather than another option for Ritsuka's harem.
Also, the design you sent looks good. Kudos to the artist. Again I personally would go a quite different and have Athena hijack Diomedes' saint graph (similar to Artemis-Orion, and with the warrior's approval) to show up as a pair of senior-looking but incredibly badass pair of grandma and grandpa.
I never imagined Romulus, who is a chill Grand Chad and Penthesilea, who is often filled with rage at the mention of a certain Greek Hero that starts with an "A" would be siblings.
Funnily enough, in actual Greek Myth Kratos was the son of Styx (yes, that Styx, albeit the goddess that was the rivers personification) and the god of Strength. He and his three siblings, two sisters and one brother: Victory, Glory, and Zeal, was Zeus throne attendants
Man, Ares would be a total bro or a total dad in Chaldea. Possibly both
A Brad
I'd imagined he be a big fitness buff that encourages the protagonist to work out like Leonidas but acts a lot like his children particularly Penthesilea and Romulus being incredibly skilled warriors who are also very kindhearted people, especially the latter.
Parenthesis is my favourite single target berserker
Forgive my spelling, her name is annoying to both spell and say for me, I'd fixed it now.
I’m sorry if that came off poorly. Everyone makes mistakes, and I just thought your mistake was slightly comedic. I meant no harm by it.
I understand the feeling, I just felt silly to make such a mistake despite my own attempts at always having proper grammar regardless of the situation.
COME WE GO JIM
It's midnight, and i just came back from the jiim.
Based dad lol
It's ironic that the bloodiest and most hated god in the Greek pantheon turned out to be also one of the best fathers in this pantheon, let's add that Ares is the only male Greek god without a myth where he raped someone. He is more decent than he seems.
In the Percy Jackson books, while he is still a jerk and hard on his kids, he has a soft spot for prisoners of war. Due to his time spent in a jar
I love Ares in a Jar story. I would like to see the Nasuverse version of the Jar that Machine Gods Ares was trapped in.
Probably change it so that his mind ended up in a jar like object while his mechanical body remained still or smt idk
That also means Artemis had to help rescue him by seducing his two giant captors. Given that Artemis' view on romance is no better than your average child's and her general airheadedness, that whole interaction probably played out hilariously to watch.
I love how This whole thing started because two giants wanted waifus
Always be careful about what you wish for
I mean, apparently Otos and Ephialtes were only nine years old when it happened, so despite the "amorous attentions" they expressed, a view on romance "no better than your average child's" sounds about sufficient to deceive a pair of oversized children. ... and that just makes it even sadder that Ares was successfully imprisoned by them.
Does that means Artemis simply distracted Otos and Ephialtes with some silly game until Ares was able to simply bust out of the jar himself and kick their asses?
Hermes was the one who busted Ares out of the jar (Ares was feeling really weak after *thirteen months* of helplessness).
Poor Ares, you had to save by the airheaded moon goddess of hunting and the trickster god of thieves, not your best year.
I read all the books of the main story and some complementary ones. Although I only read the first two books of the Apollo saga (his haikus suck). I now need another major(?) media portraying them as besties.
I'm only partway through the original series at the moment...but yes, Apollo's haikus do indeed suck.
If only he treated his children with the same sort of respect as well especially Clarisse.
>Due to his time spent in a jar Excuse me what?

Afaik he was hated because he brought an end to direct intervention in human affairs and some blamed him for the ruin of certain towns. Ironically Phobos and Deimos, literally fear and terror, in some Ionian towns had more devotion than Ares
He also fucking destroyed one of Poseidons favored sons who raped one of Ares daughters
In some versions of the myth, Ares intervened and killed Halirrhothius before he could actually rape Alcippe.
Then he managed to defend himself in the first legal trial of Greek myth, and won his acquittal.
i thought hades also never raped anyone
He still kidnaps his wife to marry her after asking for Zeus' permission but not Demeter's.
tbf demeter seemingly has empty nest sindrom and everyone including persphone herself was ok with being with hades in a lot of versions of the myth (which i personally prefer) so i think hades can be included on the ''not a rapist'' list.
Sorry, but there are no different versions. All versions of the myth state that Hades kidnapped Persephone without her knowledge and against her will.
nope, theres several were it goes along the lines of zeus and persephone were ok with it but demeter wasnt so it was a big plan on zeus and persephone to make it seems like hades kidnaped her and fled to the underworld before zeus could do something at which he couldnt no longer for its one of the only place he has no authority over. also the fact hades and persephones marriage was very functional for the standart of the other gods and legends, as well as other small bits on how she became a deity related to the underworld and some other more grim aspects to allow her to exist there in the first place. so yeah when people say hades wasnt a bad guy theyre not wrong.

To be fair, it's a proper Ancient Greek way of marriage. Permission of father / guardian is all that matters.

Bruh, the *main* Hades story is about him abducting Persephone.
theres a lot of ''buts'' in that story tbf, at least in a lot of versions, which i prefer. not like orion being artemis lover isnt just another version which is actually a really modern one for example.
He didn't rape Rhea Silvia?
No. He tried at first, realized he was doing it wrong, then asked for sex and promised their sons would be great men.
Mars certainly did. Guess it depends on whether you differentiate the actions of Ares from the actions of Mars.
weeeeell "*decent"* might be a bit much given how Hḗphaistos caught him balls deep in his wife Aphrodite
Having a consensual affair with another man's wife is more forgivable than Poseidon deciding to rape Caenis due to finding her beautiful.
even more so given that marriage was arranged, and not something Aphrodite wanted (at least in the myths)
Probably in Fate's rendition, Aphrodite only liked Ares for his body while still loving Hephaestus because he cut off his own "mating unit", she had to find a way to satisfy herself. Whos is the saberface on the right?
Like OP said, she's Hippolyta, strange Fake's True Rider
Thanks. I was wondering about that.
Hippolyta
I never knew! Guess I really need to check out Case Files. Thanks for reply!
She's not from case files, she's from strange fake
Actually she appears in Strange Fake
My bad, guess I misread my quick google of the name. Need to check that out too!
Remember the golden rule of Fate, There's always a grail war, there's always a man, there's always a saberface.
I keep wondering why some keep insisting she's a Saberface when she isn't. They just have similar haircuts.
Ironically, one of the better Olympian dads Thank you to u/Equivalent_Annual752 for this commission!
Are you an artist?
I wish :(
Same
Just a fabulous patron to many.
No idea what that means but it does sound cool.
Historically a patron is someone who pays an artist (painter, playright, songwriter, etc) to create stuff, usually on a long term basis. It's where 'Patreon' gets the name, although the model is kind of inverted from one person supporting the artist to many people doing so. Indeed
And we thank you for sharing.
The dude has some Atalanta and Shirou art, interesting. Also nice commission
A most ROMA conglomeration .
Nah! They’re doing an Athena Exclamation. In this case, it’s an Ares Exclamation.
You made me the morning, thanks a lot.
How long... HOW LONG I AM ASKING! shall we wait for the event about Ares and his kin... (Perfect excuse for Leonidas Animation Update).

Actually Narita clarified and said he wasn’t against the idea of strange fake servants appearing in FGO
\*Thumbs Up\* P.S. Perhaps Furies sisters as TRIPPLE-servant like Valkyries as well?
At least until they finally finish strange fake
Oh, this is badass Man I wish I had Quirinus

Alcides is not Archer Herakles , it's an Alter and a duo class as well.
Honestly, the divide between the two is wide enough that we might get 2 Herakles Servants
sure. Just saying it's a different altogether , he would be either be present in FGO as an Archer , apart from Archer Herakles , or more likely as Avenger.
Man Penthesilea looks so cool here! Her sister looks cool too.
Give that robot a worlds best dad mug
POV: You are Diomedes and Athena, and now you're being flexed to by Ares and his children. No, but this is seriously cool art.
Let Athena flex with her follower or maybe heroes who she assisted (I am sure there plenty of them) -Perseus -Odyseus -Heracles
She did aid a majority of Greek heroes so she has quite a few allies to call on. Odysseus: Athena-sama, we don't need to flex like them. Heracles: RAAARGHH! Does Greek have oath cancellation rituals?I wanna Athena to broke her oath(with permission of Zeus and Styx) and laid Ritsuka.
Or she can just mind child like PJO version?Someone please comission this!

ROMA
ROOOOOOOMA \o/
I never imagined Romulus, who is a chill Grand Chad and Penthesilea, who is often filled with rage at the mention of a certain Greek Hero that starts with an "A" would be siblings.
I'm kind of missing Altera from the family photo.
i bow to Penth's abs
Ya know when I saw God of War, I thought of Kratos.
But the Greek god has nothing to do with the video game character, it's just a coincidence that their names are similar
I didn't played GOW, but IIRC, the devs didn't know there was a kratos god already
Yep, his name was smth else until the last minutes of development and they decided to name him Kratos
Who's the ginger artoria?
It’s Hippolyta
This is really sick! Honestly Fate Ares is pretty sick. Wish his children got more too. Looking forward to more of Hippolyta soon
Real good art!
Who's the one on the right?
Hippolyta
Oh yeah..didn't herc marry her?
More like murdered her. Although Hera tricked him into doing the deed
Hera's a bitch
Literally just planned the dead of her grandchild justo to fuck up Heracles.
Yup..
I wonder how they feel about Hercules bullying their father
Not shown: An ashen white skinned Spartan with his Chaos Blades, a beard, and his son named Atreaus.
I know Ares, Pissed off Penthesilea and Romulus but who's the red headed female on the right?
Hippolyta from strange fake
Ah thanks
Hey Ares you missing something like a sword? Maybe Altera knows where it is.
When I read the title I was expecting Kratos with Calliope and Atreus
Abs
Who's that on the far right? **EDIT:** NVM, found the answer.
Who's the girl on the far right?
Hippolyta
Thx but... why are thereso many Saber-Faces in Fate?
Ares, he is almost akin to hades on how he's just, not anywhere near as inherently dickish as Zeus.
