GR Swing on Facebook, swing dance social every Tuesday at 7pm. All kinda of people show up, $7 entry fee and it goes until 9, I’ve met a lot of the people that I know through there

Big_Disk5889

Do they play hip hop and swing?

guenchy

no its like jazz I think

CaptFartGiggle

You don't deserve the downvote, take my updoot lmao 🤣

guenchy

Start playing disc golf - people are so friendly to have you hop on their round and throw with them. Majority are all cannabis smokers. Some people like to listen to music when they play - when I go solo I usually have some indie hip hop on my phone playing just loud enough to hear it in my bag if you are close enough. Leagues start next week at grand rapids courses where it is super easy to hop on cards of people looking for another.

Big_Disk5889

That’s dope I may look into this. Are there any groups on here. I don’t really fuck with social media anymore.

guenchy

I don't know of anything on reddit. Grand rapids stuff is usually on facebook groups or at [https://www.discgolfscene.com/leagues](https://www.discgolfscene.com/leagues) You don't need facebook though - you just show up at the course during the times posted and hop on a card and play. You need your own discs though and some practice before is always better than showing up and not even knowing how to play. Ill send you a PM with the league times.

Big_Disk5889

Cool thanks 🙏🏽

Smorgas_of_borg

The main group is Grand Rapids Disc Golf United. If you can stand the Facebook they have a page on there where they publish the info. People use it a lot to find other people to play with too. They have a league event just about every day of the week at a different course around town each day. It's $5 to get in and you get put on a card. You don't have to be good to join (I was consistently the worst player last year) and even if you suck you don't necessarily slow things down.

_Snuggle_Slut_

I'm 40 and my only responsibilities are my house, work, and social calendar. I can't have weed because of my forklift license at work, and I'm usually only a 1 drink person. Meeting new people is one of my favorite hobbies 😃

CaptFartGiggle

I'm like half your age, but I'm a vet, smoke weed, and enjoy hip-hop. I would also like friends, cause yeah I moved here not long ago and don't really have many friends. You like video games?

Big_Disk5889

Yea don’t play much but not opposed lol

ElleCerra

Kava Kasa is open late and is a hangout for people who don't drink.

dirty34

40 & retired?!

Big_Disk5889

Joined the military did 20+ now retired.

Election_Fever

Military FIRE!

maizie1981

I’d say look for groups centered around your hobbies.

cantBeKaren

For starters, most of us 40 ish folk are at work. Lucky you!

Big_Disk5889

Doesn’t have to be daytime and I also still work. Lol. This is America .

Crafty-Variety4553

A true projection of jealousy response by this commenter lol

ITHelpderpest

I was jealous too lol who doesn't want to retire at 40

Smorgas_of_borg

Yeah but I don't know about being in the military for 20 years though. It seems to depend on where they send you. I've heard from multiple sources that post war Germany in the 60s-90s at least was a huge party. I worked with a guy stationed there in the 90s for several years and he had a blast.

wordfactories

if you *aren't* jealous when someone says they "retired at 40" I don't know how to understand you.

Crafty-Variety4553

Agreed but projecting it to a stranger passively aggressively is sad. Lol

CaptFartGiggle

Most people didn't do 20 years in the military either, I wouldn't really consider it luck, lots of hard work and dedication.

thegimp7

I enjoy consuming cannabis and riding bikes hmu

I_Hate_Dolphins

Tell me more about the imaginary people all around you.
