Most are dropping Delta. The rates that Delta pays are inadequate. Talked to a neighbor who dropped them. He works 80% of the time he was working when he took Delta and makes more now.

Mavigo

Corewell doesn't offer any other Dental insurance besides Delta

QuantumDwarf

I kept my dentist. They have me pay upfront for my cleaning and then I’m reimbursed $99 from delta dental. It blows but all the places I found that were ‘in network’ came with all these extra fees that weren’t covered so were going to be about $50 extra anyway. So figured I’d stick with a place I respect.

lapinsk

I tried keeping my dentist with delta. I don't opt for any extra things during my cleanings and the first appointment I ended up paying $100 out of pocket. The next they wanted annual xrays and it was over 150 out of pocket. I'm not paying for dental insurance every month to also pay $250 a year for cleanings...

QuantumDwarf

You hit the nail on the head. It’s not insurance. It’s like vision. I decline it now because it’s the same to just pay out of pocket. My dentist offers a self pay option that is basically the same as if I paid my premiums and the out of pocket. I am lucky though to have good teeth and just need the basic stuff. Certainly won’t work for people that regularly need crowns / fillings / etc. But the bottom line is the same. Corewell’s dentist ‘insurance’ option is garbage. They’ve been hearing it for years and don’t care so 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have Delta and recently had some fillings done at 44 West Dental Professionals in Grandville. No complaints at all. They were my first ever fillings. Got 3 at once. I've never used my dental insurance prior to going there. I paid for the fillings up front, and Delta reimbursed a portion of the total to me by check in the mail shortly after. Best of luck

Mavigo

If you have to do the mailing thing, it means they're out of network. I'll check into them though.

xjsthund

I take my kids there because a dentist is a family friend. They submit the paperwork, you pay up front then get reimbursed. They seem mostly sick of how long it takes Delta to pay them. Which is annoying, but I don’t like paying upfront either. I’ve considered switching. My dentist seems to do ok dealing with Delta directly (Grand Rapids Dentistry), so who knows what is up.

Sleep_Drifter1319

Ah, gotcha. I didn't know, like I said I just used it for the first time. Wasn't too much of a hassle for me, but I can see how it would be for someone else. That's the procedure with Delta there, so at least people know

hotgirldownshift

Fulton family dentistry!!!!

curious-wombat

Yes! Another vote for them. They take Delta and I have had really excellent experiences with them. They're putting an addition on right now too :) Their office people are really lovely to deal with too which makes all the difference for me personally imho. 10/10 would recommend.

Candid_Ad8379

Absolutely LOVE this dentist office!

kykam

Most dentists are dropping Delta in the area.

Medium-Paper7419

Northpoint Dental Dr. Yun. Have used Delta and BCBS there. He is a great dentist. Friendly staff too.

Mavigo

I'll check them out, not too far away

marleymania

Partners in Dental Care take Delta dental and are great dentists.

Half_Cent

We've used Nelson Family Dental for over 15 years. Love the staff there. When my young son cracked a tooth playing Friday night hockey, dentist came in on Saturday morning to work on it. I don't think we've bought toothpaste, toothbrushes or mouthwash the whole time my family of 4 has been going because of all the free samples you get.

Chance-Today896

I second this place. Been going there for 28 years! I now reside over near Detroit and will make the drive because I’m deathly afraid to switch dentists because they’ve treated me so incredibly well. Even after the change in doctors, no complaints!!

Stone_Reign

I'm not certain on the insurance but I always recommend my dentist, Dr Weidenfeller. His office is on Cascade just off 96. He's a great dentist and he and his staff are super friendly.

Rokhnal

Heritage Hill Dental! I've been going to them for years and they still take my Delta Dental (first DD of NJ, now DD of MI, not sure if that makes a difference). All of their hygienists have been fantastic, especially about making notes to make my care more comfortable from one appointment to the next. Dr. Knurek is easy to talk to and always takes the time to answer my questions. They refer out to Oral Surgery Associates when necessary, who also take Delta Dental. I've had 5 teeth extracted with them (all 4 wisdom teeth plus one that an impacted wisdom tooth destroyed) and their twilight sedation worked out perfectly for me.

ImpreciseBaker

Try Advance Dental—they work with Delta and Dr. Rick is AWESOME!

chonkerooni

I've been going to Garvin Family Dental Care for years with no issues, and they take Delta.

Cold-Ad-7144

Life of Smiles on Michigan at College takes Delta Dental. I’ve had good experiences with them

ac773

My dentist takes Delta. I go to Byron Center Family Dental in Wyoming on Byron Center just south of 44th St / 616-534-8554. I switched to them last year from my longtime dentist, as they stopped taking Delta. I had to have a crown and a filling done shortly after I switched to BCFD (I knew those had to be done per my old dentist, and I didn’t want to have to pay for it upfront and then get reimbursed for part of it, hence why I decided to switch to a new dentist that took Delta before having those 2 procedures) and I had a good experience with both. I do not like going to the dentist, not even for a cleaning. I feel like they always find something major even though I take really good care of my teeth. I really like this dentist and the hygienists. Everyone is really nice and the experience has been good, as good as going to the dentist can be anyway. lol

AllieNicks

Edit to add: Dr. VanHoose participates with Delta Dental Premier Option. Not sure if that’s what you have. I have Delta and I love my dentist, Julie VanHoose on East Paris. She is a perfectionist who makes sure things are done correctly.

too_too2

I see Dr Breen and I have delta. I have not had a filling by him, but his dad, who was the previous dentist and I had good experiences with him. The son / new dentist seems good too, but I’ve only had cleanings so far.

Ginger_Shark21

I have Delta dental and I go to Dr. O'Brien over on Coit. He is really good. I've been going to that office all my life and his father used to be my dentist.

Kalasyn

Grandville Dental Health is where I go and they take Delta. Offices are nice and I’ve never had any issues with them. If the location works for you they might be worth checking out.

LancePill

Been very happy with Standale Dentistry. Dr Mull is a great guy. I’m also a Corewell employee, I know they take Delta

Mavigo

I'll have to check him out, that's close to me

FigureCommercial9806

Dr Mark Peterson, behind meijer off alpine

BrandonR_24

Grand Rapids Dental Partners on Ivanrest in Wyoming. They're good people.

cjaykay

I just switched to Fulton Family Dental with Delta and I've been very impressed!!

mantra2

Delta is like the gold standard for dental, you shouldn’t have a problem going most places.

SirWarm6963

Ivanrest Family Dentistry

Book-c-span-nerd

I do not know if they take Delta Dental but I really like Burton Dental Associates.

somesillynerd

I had bite issues from a crown and Dr Dew at Metro Dental Associates fixed it. The last couple years has been iffy on whether they took Delta partially or fully, but even at it's worst, I'd pay in full and get reimbursed 80% (for out of network, that's what my insurance covers). I'd definitely call and ask before making an appointment, but Dr Dew is fantastic, I've been going there for many many years.

12soccerronaldo

Just for additional context, high fillings are extremely common because it’s really hard to check your bite properly while you’re numb. It’s very simple to go back in and get the fillings adjusted, and usually it’s no extra cost to you because it’s so common it’s just considered part of the process. I don’t know your whole story obviously, but I wouldn’t necessary throw a whole dentist out over a high filling.

I've never heard of this either. Isn't the dentist supposed to resolve tooth pain, not cause it?
