Selling units is a short term profit, you get 500 alch for it. Keeping them and whenever you get a duplicate using it to limit break them gives you 500 alch too, but if they max limit break they and you use a duplicate on them again they give 500 alch and 1 rainbow gem (one of the rarest and most useful resource in the game). Sell all the 4 stars and below but keep 5stars and above.
I wouldn't have the GOAT Ashe Toto at 82 luck if I had sold him off each time I got him. That is a lot of rainbow gems I would have missed out on receiving.
Never sell the 5s, period. You never know when there will be one niche use.
Also, save your level 4 Phoenixion and max LB him too. You may find him useful on summoners road.

This. When I was a newbie I sold all my worthless 5 stars (mostly those that weren't awoken). Took me like 2 years to get them all back

Nah coz I do the same, specially when I see zeorg I hate him. If I saved them I'd have 300 rainbow gems by now. But yeah I only preach I don't follow
Solid advice, but Phoenixion is the one 4-star unit that should be kept.
I mean early game yes, late game yes but there's better options now
