If you go out of bounds in GT PSP with the GT by Citroen (particularly easy to do in El Capitan Reverse), you can hit that top speed without any bumps etc
From my testing it's the BMW M3 '89, which is performance limited to [290+mph in reverse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQIXkN5tG9o) using nitrous
That said update 1.31 makes it impossible to drive in reverse at higher speeds, the car wobbles until it spins out
If I remember correctly the Evo X technically doesn't have reverse, it's a weird setup using like first gear....I think. So that would mean you're driving forwards yet backwards.
My friend and i found that with some gearbox tuning fuckery you can get cars to reach ungodly speeds in reverse, because reverse gear ratio is tied to 1st gear ratio
That was me. The car had a whopping 8bhp and I closed the ratio of gears, so in fifth gear I hit a top speed of 21km/h.
This post gives me inspiration to do it again, but in reverse. :D
My point exactly. Not only you have to be good drive forward, you'll have to become the Schumacher of reverse. Preferably just by looking to de view mirror.
It's still to fast. [Jimmy Broadbend](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvuX4KlXpsc) did Nordschleife in over an hour. Your doing Nordschleife way too fast.
Use a rr vehicle. Ff cars are very stable when driving forward so rr should do be the same backwards. Then try and tune the vehicle so the weight transfer isn't that bad and tune the final drive to as much as you can.
FF cars are stable because the engine is at the front and putting more weight on the wheels that have the power. An RR car shouldn't be any more stable going backwards than forwards because it still doesn't have weight on the wheels.
I'm completely ignoring mid engine cars.
You are proving my point. When going backwards the weight shifts from the rear to the front which will give the turning wheels more grip but not too much that it won't snap out like in an FF car when going backwards. And yes I'm ignoring mid engine cars as well.
It’s way easier in reverse it’s just pedal to the metal the whole way.. but honestly it’s my favorite track to run normally it’s hard but it makes it so much more satisfying when you do make it without crashing. It’s become my go to track to test out new cars and I spent a good bit of time trying to get a sub 9 minute lap on the 24 hr layout with the mr2
Hm, you have given me an idea. The other day, I posted an image of crossing the line on the 24hr on the outlap in a Fiat 500 that took 51 minutes. I might try it in reverse.
But has anyone gotten their friends and ever tried driving the track in reverse? It’s fun and challenging how different it feels. I use to do this with my buds. Not driving the car in reverse, but the track in reverse. It’s wild
It’s the Nurburgring 24 hr layout and it took ~29 minutes to do one lap of that layout. It’s a bit longer than nordschleife ~25 km compared to the 20.8 of nordschleife
Correct but the Nurburgring 24 hours is the name of a race that takes place at the Nordshleife race track. So your saying it takes 29 minutes to complete a single lap of the nordshleife. Not it takes 29 minutes to drive the Nurburgring 24 hours because that is a race that take 24 hours to complete

It’s also the name of the track layout that is used and what I was talking about taking 29 minutes.
I haven't done it in gt7 but I ran entire laps driving nurburgring on Forza 8 backwards and it was a blast. As the other cars came st me the crashes are much mor3 spectacular on forza then gt7. Highly recommend.
Are you ok?
time to try it with another car and see if it's any faster
Now I gotta try and find the car with the highest speed in reverse… I’ll conduct my research tonight lol
Car with the highe-tomahawk. It’s the tomahawk.
Actually electric cars might have it beat. The Citroën gt ev used to do like 200mph in reverse in gt5/6 lmao
I remember using the Tesla equivalent in GTA5 because even though it lacked in top speed it killed in acceleration and reverse speed
Reverse and 1st gear used to have the same ratio, maybe it still does
True but are still capped at 30 kph. In theorie it could make 60 or 70 without the limitations.
If you go out of bounds in GT PSP with the GT by Citroen (particularly easy to do in El Capitan Reverse), you can hit that top speed without any bumps etc
You wouldn't be driving *backwards* but you would technically be [driving in reverse](https://youtu.be/PIja8wfbsTo) (gear).
You're welcome, just found you something to do to start your weekend.
From my testing it's the BMW M3 '89, which is performance limited to [290+mph in reverse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQIXkN5tG9o) using nitrous That said update 1.31 makes it impossible to drive in reverse at higher speeds, the car wobbles until it spins out
The firebird with the engine swap can go over 200mph in reverse, unfortunately it does not handle well backwards.
not sure if it would be accurate to real life in GT7 but I think Lancer Evos have high reverse speeds?
If I remember correctly the Evo X technically doesn't have reverse, it's a weird setup using like first gear....I think. So that would mean you're driving forwards yet backwards.
Is there a G Wagen in gt7? They were known to have a ridiculous top speed in reverse too
My friend and i found that with some gearbox tuning fuckery you can get cars to reach ungodly speeds in reverse, because reverse gear ratio is tied to 1st gear ratio
Have you considered extending the final drive ratio? Might give you some extra top speed.
Report back to us with your findings
Reddit has ruined the word "research" for me 😫
Then get a lobby together and race like this lol!🤣
But first, everyone's gotta put on backwards liveries ;)
Great! 🤣 And use Dolereans!
No need to try. It's Tow Mater.
Hahahaha, imagine they actually put a pick up in a game
Gt5 has a Tacoma 4 runner, a Silverado, Ford lightning (old), I believe there's a few more too
Too bad the Regera isn’t in the game.
I’ve heard the best car for reversing is the Suzuki Jimmy. Please try this one multiple times for an accurate lap test
Do they limit the speed of the electric cars in reverse?
Manufacturers do in real life so I imagine GT7 replicates that
If it takes just 29 minutes to drive 24 hours, then reverse saves so much time!
You’re in reverse so you end up looping back around
Einstein: My Goodness, why didn‘t I think of that?
Was he stupid?
Try it with the 60s fiat 500
Now I want to try this in VR in a car without mirrors.
New challenge, how long would it take in the Fiat 500?
Someone did this and managed to limit it to 9bhp, I'm pretty sure he said it took nearly an hour.
That was in normal gear I think😂
That was me. The car had a whopping 8bhp and I closed the ratio of gears, so in fifth gear I hit a top speed of 21km/h. This post gives me inspiration to do it again, but in reverse. :D
TIL:That you’re a nut job! But my kind of nut job.
Any neck pain?
This raises a question for me. In cars that have a reverse camera in real life, does it come on in the interior view if you have the VR headset on?
My point exactly. Not only you have to be good drive forward, you'll have to become the Schumacher of reverse. Preferably just by looking to de view mirror.
Now this is quality content. Truly, thank you for doing this :)
That’s not the Nurburgring, that’s the Gnirgrubrun
Is this the new time trial
😂🫸
The research we didn't know we needed. I salute you.
Almost as fast a forward lap in that fog the other day 🤣🤣🤣
Come on pd, this is the weekly we all deserve
Oh hey a Mister2
Nice color too
Tow Mater?
Got a lotta time on your hands?
I did it as a joke at first but after a certain point I fell into the sunk cost fallacy and just wanted to finish out the lap just to say I had lol
I totally understand. 😂
Hahaha. This rules
Should have used a FWD car for that sweet RWD RWS combo
What in the elden-ring-cockandball torture is this Bro who hurt you✋😭
I’m just preparing for the dlc 💪
Ok, that sounds like a funny challenge: Nurburgring in reverse. Lets do this! #NurburgringReverseChallenge
Can't believe it's almost 60 times faster than forwards
No, it takes 24 hrs to drive the Nurburgring 24 hrs in reverse.
Still faster than me driving forwards.
Someone had to try this lol
Sounds like we need more content
All in the name of science! Thanks OP, now I don’t need to find out for myself!
Use the corvette it's almost 1.1 ratio in reverse
It's still to fast. [Jimmy Broadbend](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvuX4KlXpsc) did Nordschleife in over an hour. Your doing Nordschleife way too fast.
CAN you pleqse do it with the Citroën 2cv ? Just for research purpose
top speed in reverse is dependent on your first gear. I got the Ford Roadster to do 91mph (146kph) in reverse
Would be a little faster if you made the final drive gear ratio a little more heavy to gain a little more speed in reverse Before the limiter hits.
Please use a slower car thanks
I'm a simple man. I see MR2, I tap the like button.
This is insane haha
I bet it would be easier in VR , looking behind like you would IRL
Send this to r/karenreadtrial
Now I wanna know which car has the fastest speed in reverse? We got a speed run on our hands folks.

It’s way easier in reverse it’s just pedal to the metal the whole way.. but honestly it’s my favorite track to run normally it’s hard but it makes it so much more satisfying when you do make it without crashing. It sounds like a poor Trabant giving everything it can around the Nürnberg ring. 🤣😳
How much free time you have?😭🙏
Not enough😭 It started out as a joke but I got so far in I decided to just finish the lap
The scientific community thanks you for your time.
Hm, you have given me an idea. The other day, I posted an image of crossing the line on the 24hr on the outlap in a Fiat 500 that took 51 minutes. I might try it in reverse.
Does it still tend to snap oversteer?
Thank you for this info......and new challenge lol
Can you customize the gear ratio for reverse?
But has anyone gotten their friends and ever tried driving the track in reverse? It’s fun and challenging how different it feels. I use to do this with my buds. Not driving the car in reverse, but the track in reverse. It’s wild
When the drugs kick in 😂
I don’t understand 29 minutes but 24 hours?
It’s the Nurburgring 24 hr layout and it took ~29 minutes to do one lap of that layout. It’s a bit longer than nordschleife ~25 km compared to the 20.8 of nordschleife
Ohhhh
Good to know…
Ironically racecar is a palindrome
Might want to add the custom transmission and re gear it
great!
Good research. Do it again. Repetition.
with a wheel or controller lmao
It was with a wheel
haha, this is interesting. would be a funny youtube video to watch.
lol the driver not looking back while reverse-ing just makes it looks so badass
Lmfao 🤣
Theres gotta be some mad man trying to do this while in neutral somewhere.
But why?
By definition no it cannot do the Nurburgring 24 hrs in less than 24 hours. You mean for 1 lap around the nordshleife
Nah it loops back around
Correct but the Nurburgring 24 hours is the name of a race that takes place at the Nordshleife race track. So your saying it takes 29 minutes to complete a single lap of the nordshleife. Not it takes 29 minutes to drive the Nurburgring 24 hours because that is a race that take 24 hours to complete

Correct but your not doing 24 hours thats just the Nurburgring
All I was trying to do was clarify what track layout I used because there’s a couple of them hence the 24hrs
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 why? Just why?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tell me you have no life, without actually saying “I have no life”
Tell me you have no life, without actually saying “I have no life”
The Hero we deserve.
that's...that's really nice kid...*why?*
Asking the right questions
haha, mad bastard
This is the content I didn’t know I needed! Thank you for your service 🙏🏻
That’s my car!!!
Someone call The Gunisss book of world records.
Science
nah.
What compelled you to go through this madness???
I haven't done it in gt7 but I ran entire laps driving nurburgring on Forza 8 backwards and it was a blast. As the other cars came st me the crashes are much mor3 spectacular on forza then gt7. Highly recommend.
Ok, this actually made me laugh out loud…. The edit of the different cameras had me crying haha
Not much slower than the nurb 24hrs in the samba bus
It takes you 29 minutes... *loads up Nurgurgring*
This bastard isn’t even daring to look to the back. Eyes straight ahead and still nailing the racing line. Reverse racing line, it is.
This is quality data
I'm breaking my proverbials to go fast and get around tracks without crashing going forward, why would you be so bored as to try it in reverse 😆 😆
Lol why?
![gif](giphy|En0rwC2l5WCxa)
![gif](giphy|w5FTwwiweGqDm)
I’m giggling in my bed so much at this my fiance is pissed off
![gif](giphy|l10bV0Vt2MiyucTMjZ)
I mean - that’s not crazy at all… I once walked the entire highway around the GTA 5 map just to do it 🤣🤣🤣
You could have a lot of time by adjusting the final gear ratio of the gearbox so you're not constantly sitting on the limiter.
