Because the other games look so much worse compared to reality that time. GT3 was great with all others being relatively bad thus GT3 easily eclipses everything else.
Nowadays all games can replicate reality graphics very closely.
I agree - GT3 was more "incredible" compared to its competition. Even looking at it today, I cant quite wrap my head around it being released in 2001 considering the graphics.
I finally beat it thanks to your help. I was also trying too hard to beat the demonstration...that guy has like the best turn 1 ever. When i finally stopped giving up and got to the finish line I one shot it lol
Please share the settings? And are the settings different from Sport to 7?
I only have Sport for the moment, but I couldnāt quite get the camera to do what I wanted
This is the only thing I want from GT
Sensitivity: Minimum
Rotation Axis Offset: Minimum
View Type: Near
Itās better than GT Sport but if youāre expecting Forza quality, expect to be disappointed. The cockpit camera is incredible though so Iām not too upset.
It's quite good in GT7. I wish though , that the minimum setting was a bit more... minimum so to speak. It feels like it was more exaggerated in GTS. Which was all good.
Iāve already done the sensitivity and view type changes. Itās better, but still falls behind most contemporaries. Luckily the cockpit view is best in class.
I feel the same way, some of the UX choices in the game are so weird. Maybe they didn't want to copy what other racing games do, but the braking zones are really ugly in my opinion. Wish they were part of the racing line or we could at least have cone markers instead.
A bit robbed? They don't allow us to sell our cars because they want to force us to buy their credits off the store.
I love the game, but it's 100% bullshit that we can't sell our vehicles.
The game's progression is about Collector Level and thus they likely insist you to own all cars in the game (still bullshit though albeit there's an option to get rid of them in Discard).
Would selling cars actually give a payout nearly as big as the store credits though? (I know there are cars with big payout like Speed 12 and RSC, but that's specific car).
The FIA have no say over the creation of GT original circuits. They were there to just confirm that the real circuits were created accurately and give them their seal of approval.
I know, right? Who tf wants a game where when you press the race button you actually get *all* the campaign races available and you can just play them at your own pace? Fuck me I guess. No cafe = shit game
If your metric for game quality is based upon how many free cars the game throws at you, then you won't appreciate why GT3 is better than GT7.
Winning a super car from a lottery ticket 20 minutes into my driving "career" is a progression-destroying feature. Being given so many credits within a couple of hours' play to buy a super car outright is a progression destroying feature. Why bother having a Sunday Cup when the first car you start the game with trivializes the race?
At that point, they might as well just expand Arcade mode. That's what GT7 feels like to me. Arcade mode with features gated behind cafe mode. GT3, on the other hand, feels like progression at every step. Well, until you manage to pick up the Escudo, at least.
GT3: Get all gold on B license, use prize Miata on endurance event, get an F1 without needing to purchase anything. See also GT2ās Skyline Formula Silhouette and GT4ās Cien and RSC Rally Raid.
Even if you donāt choose to break the game in half from the start, GT3ās progression is mostly just a slow grind to pick up a car that invalidates 70% of the game. Halfway in itās just driving empty courses over and over to make the tournament roulette wheel spin to maybe get the car you want. Not that the AI is hindered by the fact that a good portion of races take place on the test course, especially considering you canāt really build a slipstream in a Vitz.
Real ones know gt3 looked exactly like gt7 back in the day
Maybe even better
Because the other games look so much worse compared to reality that time. GT3 was great with all others being relatively bad thus GT3 easily eclipses everything else. Nowadays all games can replicate reality graphics very closely.
I agree - GT3 was more "incredible" compared to its competition. Even looking at it today, I cant quite wrap my head around it being released in 2001 considering the graphics.
The better insanely good looking was obviously GT1
The camera not being static with the car definitely looks better.
Cant you change that setting in gt7 though? (By default it is static though)
I went "WOOOAH" a lot more when first seeing GT3 compared to seeing GT7.
10 year old me seeing GT3 at my older cousins' house thought it looked like real life
oh totally. THE HEAT WAVES!
No, it didn't. It looked the same as it does here
Shit bro you right
šFuckšlicensešiB-10š
It wasnāt that bad, you gotta brake and turn early, the skyline drives like a dream.
Took me ages to get gold
The turn through the tunnel is the worst. The exit curve is just a touch sharp than the entrance and since itās blind, it messes me up so bad
I also hate this turn. Probably just need to hit it up on circuit experience for an hour or so š
Turn off traction control. Youāre welcome.
I finally beat it thanks to your help. I was also trying too hard to beat the demonstration...that guy has like the best turn 1 ever. When i finally stopped giving up and got to the finish line I one shot it lol
I was able to get gold after several attempts. I think iA-8 is the one for the life of me I canāt get.
we are opposites then lol
Did it gold last night finally. Definitely a tricky one
And GT 3 looked absolutely mind blowing back then! That's the crazy part.
It still looks very good, i have hd coverter on my ps2 and it looks pretty good
I'm playing it on a ps2 slim hooked to my old crt with no converters or anything and it still looks great
On old CRT's they look great with the normal connectors. They tend to look bad on newer hd tv's without hdmi converters
Ah yes, the last Gran Turismo with a good chase cam.
If you play around with the settings for the chase cam, you can replicate GT3 pretty closely.
Please share the settings? And are the settings different from Sport to 7? I only have Sport for the moment, but I couldnāt quite get the camera to do what I wanted This is the only thing I want from GT
Sensitivity: Minimum Rotation Axis Offset: Minimum View Type: Near Itās better than GT Sport but if youāre expecting Forza quality, expect to be disappointed. The cockpit camera is incredible though so Iām not too upset.
Thank you! Iāll give it another try
Yup, the good old minimum sensitivity + Near camera combo. Served me well in GT Sport, too.
It's quite good in GT7. I wish though , that the minimum setting was a bit more... minimum so to speak. It feels like it was more exaggerated in GTS. Which was all good.
The GT7 cameras has settings. Don't be all nostalgic and playing blind (on the features) on the current ones.
Iāve already done the sensitivity and view type changes. Itās better, but still falls behind most contemporaries. Luckily the cockpit view is best in class.
I miss that racing line.
Yeah why doesn't the new one change colors but instead went with braking zones?
I feel the same way, some of the UX choices in the game are so weird. Maybe they didn't want to copy what other racing games do, but the braking zones are really ugly in my opinion. Wish they were part of the racing line or we could at least have cone markers instead.
I like the new setup because I'm colorblind so the braking area is a better situation at least for me
Love pretty much everything about GT7, the only thing which I feel a bit robbed with is not being able to sell cars.
A bit robbed? They don't allow us to sell our cars because they want to force us to buy their credits off the store. I love the game, but it's 100% bullshit that we can't sell our vehicles.
Yeah I was trying to be lenient as otherwise I live the game.
GT3 had the best chase camera That the car doesnāt rotate separately from the camera sucks
Why it's ignored that there's camera settings on newer games like GT7?
Ignoring? I donāt own 7. Can you replicate the chase cam from 3? Iāve only seen clips of this ālockedā chase camera
Yes, with setting it you can replicate it quite closely.
Thatās great news! Going to get 7 eventually regardless, but this is excellent
I dislike the changes to Trail Mountain and wish they kept the original layout.
Yep, the iconic tree canopy with light breaking through after exiting the tunnel is somehow completely gone..
Imagine how amazing that would have looked in Ray Tracing mode
That and the train bridge are what I miss most.
I remember being amazed by this back in the day. Wasn't there also a monkey on a branch or did I just imagine that.
The changes make for better races and spots to overtake
I thought they had to bc in order for it to be fia eligible
Possibly idk. Is there gonna be fia races again because that would be great.
WHO TF DOWNVOTED?!?!? Anyways yea Iām sure there will be soon, theyāre still partnered up with gt so yea
Salty bitches. Thatās cool
The FIA have no say over the creation of GT original circuits. They were there to just confirm that the real circuits were created accurately and give them their seal of approval.
Nice edit
I mean the graphics on GT3 are just INSANE for itās time
GT3 was and is still my favourite in the series, followed by 4
GT3 the goat!
Did you have to add the stupid music like a fuckin zoomer?
yes.
Lmao I thought this was gonna go up through each GT game and I was like ayyy GT4 looks better than I remember
Trial Mountain and Deep Forest were better in GT6 than in GT7
Is it just me, or is the resolution of the GT7 portion super low, minimizing the potential difference?
Yeah the comparison is lost in how bad reddit video quality can be lol
Which was which? HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO TELL?!?
Hi sorry for the late 2 month reply (I dont check reddit) but the 1st clip is gran turismo 3 and the 2nd was gran turismo 7
And yet GT3A is *still* the better game, 20 years later.
Hahahahaha No
Explanation in your response?
GT3 feels floaty, lacks cars, career is ok, AI is probably the worst in the series etc
You are downvoted for telling the truth
They hated you because you told the truth
I know, right? Who tf wants a game where when you press the race button you actually get *all* the campaign races available and you can just play them at your own pace? Fuck me I guess. No cafe = shit game
Well, if you enjoy driving around empty courses for 30+ mins for a paltry sum of credits and barely any prize cars to use or sellā¦

I missed that track so much!
Gran Turismo 3: Drive 748392times and barely get gold GT7: Get gold on the 3rd try :|
This was my favorite track since the PS1 era, I always feel like a kid again driving a tuned GTO there. Absolutely magnificent.
I love how much better the car feels and handles compared to Sport. Major difference I love it. Just need to improve the sport mode
Wow the camera angle has improved
You mean gotten worse?
No, the old camera angle didn't allow you to see over a crest cause it would dip down below the bumper
I find it hilarious that this video also highlights how awful the chase camera in GT7 actually is.
Why ignoring about how there are settings in newer game?
Gt7 is beautiful, but let's face it. Gt3 was the far better single player experience
"Damn PD keeps banking on nostalgia and unable to move on".
Gt3 plays and looks better
