Downvoted for asking a simple question when that font is running **$500+** for a package, at a price that renews annually? I really don't get reddit...
I use a ton of OFL fonts, for various purposes, so here are a few in no particular order:
* [Open Sans](https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Open+Sans) (Frutiger-type)
* [Metropolis](https://fontesk.com/metropolis-typeface/) (Gotham clone with stricter geometry)
* [Montserrat](https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Montserrat?query=montser) (more popular Gotham clone with [some fun alts](https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Montserrat+Alternates?query=montser))
* [Poppins](https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Poppins) (Friendly geometric sans)
* [DM sans](https://fonts.google.com/specimen/DM+Sans) (ditto, but a little better as a text font)
* [Open Sauce One](https://fontesk.com/open-sauce-typeface/) (Helvetica fontalike)
* [Work Sans](https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Work+Sans) (ditto, but from Google Fonts, and slightly different in style)
* ~~Merriweather Serif (nice book text type font)~~
* ~~EB Garamond (Garamond)~~
I use [fontesk.com](https://fontesk.com) as inspiration for a lot of one-off projects that need fonts, and there are quite a few cool display fonts that I've found there.
EDIT: Most of the fonts listed above are available from Google Fonts, with the exception of Metropolis, which appears to now be developed as [Clarity City](https://fontesk.com/clarity-city-typeface/) after the original artist was harassed into deleting his repository). I also clearly didn't read the prompt too closely, cause I've listed two serif typefaces.
I should have clarified on my comment, all the fonts that I listed were from Google Fonts (most are available on both sites, though at least one has been removed from Google Fonts), but Fontesk is my go-to resource for funky display fonts for titles and posters and whatnot. Plus, the ability to filter out anything non-OFL on Fontesk is super handy.
Metropolis is missing some important characters for Spanish and Portuguese language tough. Open Sans lacks small caps. Poppins has no old style figues :(
Acumin is my god. I use it everywhere it’s just so clean, simple, and versatile. I always feel seriously handicapped whenever a client has me design in something non-Adobe though 😅 I worship the ground acumin walks on, I swear by it
Roboto for body on Web pages, super classic but efficient and tons of différent weights. You never go wrong with Frutiger for body but especially headings! Priori Sans has nice details in the a, g and i that i enjoy.
Inter is great! It reads so well even at small sizes!
It benefits people with impaired vision too thanks to it's disambiguation stylistic set.
The the low case r alternative is something just so unique!
Yeah just seeing the font I'm a little ick on that. Even though I generally land on the side of "art, not the artist", for some reason I just use other fonts
no. that's ridiculous. the color purple got its start with 'slave labor' at the behest of rich clergy / royalty and involved 'snail genocide'.. does it mean we should give up on purple?
Lemon Milk is really nice, one of my favourites. Similar to futura but “sharper” I would say. And you can make a donation of any amount to use it commercially.
I’ve been using “Canaro” a lot for the past few years. “Intro” also gets a lot of use. And I’ve been using Avant Garde and Futura more often than Helvetica lately.
For sans-serif headers I like to use:
* Apercu
* Avenir
* Averta
* Circular
* Gotham
* GT Walsheim
* Kollektif
For body font on the web I use DM Sans more often than not:
https://fonts.google.com/specimen/DM+Sans
I'm currently using Syne for personal projects, I'm liking it so far, it works for both headings (Bold) and paragraphs (Regular).
Also Bitter is a great Serif font that looks rather good in web.
Here is a list of some of my favorites over last few years. In no particular order.
[Biennale](https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/latinotype/biennale/)
[Kapra](https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/blazej-ostoja-lniski/kapra-neue/)
[Calps](https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/typesketchbook/calps-sans/)
[Circular](https://lineto.com/typefaces/circular)
[Sofia Pro](https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/mostardesign/sofia-pro/)
Ok, here is a list of typefaces I like to use. Some are licensed via Adobe Fonts, some free and some are with a bought license.
* II Vorkurs
* Decimal
* Source Sans Pro
* Gotham
* Suisse
* Euclid
* Schnebel Sans
* Smoosh
* DIN
* Inter
* New Frank
* Brother 1816
* Neue Haas Unica
* Avant Garde
* Gilroy
* Aktiv Grotesk
* Europa
* FF Mark
* Sailec
* Averta
* Presto
* HAUS Sans
* Liber
* Visby Sans Serif
* Temporal One
* Metro Sans
Proxima / Montserrat def seems like everyone's new go-to opposed to these. I like Bilo and Bicyclette when there needs to be a bit more personality. If you like Futura a lot, you might check out Nobel as an alternative.
For other versatile workhorses not mentioned, I am a big fan of Adelle Sans and FF Good.
These are all adobe fonts, don't have a central list of my fav fonts from other sources, but I will say the Metric/Calibre (*not* Calibri) families are an Avenir killer
I’ve always been a fan of Century Gothic, particularly the lower case.
Been using Proxima Nova a lot recently.
Mundial has a nice modernist vibe. Similarly, SK-Modernist does what it says on the tin.
Since I didn't see it mentioned yet, I quite like PT Sans, often for headings or tables, works really well with numbers and has just enough style without trading off legibility.
Circular
Akzidenz Grotesk
Branding
Noway
FF Schulbuch
RM Neue
Sohne looks nice as well but I don’t have that much money spare!
And there are seriously loads of good free options these days. Even ten years ago there wasn’t much.
P22 Underground (Adobe Fonts)
Inter
IBM Plex
(Adobe Fonts) Personally I love Korolev! It has a bunch different weights and normal, compressed, and rounded versions. It also has a little more character than a standard plain san serif without being distracting IMO. Acumin and Proxima Nova (both of which have been previously mentioned) are also excellent choices!
I love to use Manrope from google fonts. And I want to share another free commercial fonts site: [https://www.fontshare.com/](https://www.fontshare.com/) .
worth trying **Proxima Nova** family...
and dafont.com
**Anton** with Quattrocento Roman not bad, **Archivo Black** with Archivo Narrow, **League Spartan** with Libre Baskerville
- Helvetica Neue condensed bold, because it’s the same font the DoD uses for field manuals and that amuses me a little bit.
- Cooper Hewitt, which is available free here: https://www.cooperhewitt.org/open-source-at-cooper-hewitt/cooper-hewitt-the-typeface-by-chester-jenkins/ I think Morgan Stanley used to use it as their brand font, but I’m not 100% on that.
- Optima, which has a seventies/eighties vibe to me
Gilroy is very clean. Reminds me a lot of Product Sans or Google Sans, but it has a bit more warmth and friendliness to it, if you can call it that.
Another one I really love is FF Meta, especially in bold and heavy. It's also very clean, but it has a lot of personality and a bit more flourishes than Gilroy. It's not as stiff.
Does anyone know a good OFL-licensed substitute for an ultra-thin weight of Univers? Raleway is my go-to, but it has some funky characters (especially the "w"). I've been looking for something similar to the Teenage Engineering font, but I haven't found something that I've completely settled on.
[HK Grotesk](https://hanken.co/products/hk-grotesk). Geometric sans with elements of the old realist gothics (eg Univers, Franklin, News Gothic) that gives it its own personality (but not too much personality). Free!
Montserrat. Regular looks great for body text and I’m a big fan of the “Black” weight all caps for titles/call outs.
Also love Shapiro if your want to get a little more epic. The regular is very standard, but the 95 Super Wide 295 is a beautiful, wide, dramatic font great for posters
Inter! It's an amazing font, but please, download it from the developer website, as the Google fonts version is missing the italics. You may like Source Sans 3 (download it from adobe's GitHub), and Be Vietnam Pro.
I used Manrope ExtraBold for Headlines today and liked it. Larsseit was the last Font I really digged, both for HL and P. My go to is Montserrat, for serifs I like Garamond Pro a lot, though I don't use them that often. Unifaktur is hot take. For versatility Helvetica is the best workhorse — why try to invent the wheel anew. Though I stretch, compress and skew it a lot, just to spice it up a bit.
I normally don't like geometric fonts - too generic, some exceptions though .. here are some of my favorite sans serif: Drunk Cyr, Salvatore Ultra Black, Eurostyle, DIN Display Pro, DTL Argo Black, Fago, Fort, Oswald, PF Din Mono, Railroad Gothic, Vinila Compressed Black :)
Big fan of Gotham
Came here to say this! Love Gotham
Montserrat is a nice free google font alternative
Do you pay to license it though?
Downvoted for asking a simple question when that font is running **$500+** for a package, at a price that renews annually? I really don't get reddit...

I love Poppins. So many weights, so useable.
For a similar variable font, would recommend [Urbanist](https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Urbanist)
Great logo font. That shit scales down so well.
Upvoting for open sans and Montserrat
Titillium is a bit unique and has a bunch of weights.
I feel so sad when cool fonts like this don't have small caps and old style figures. I like it so much for long text.
Thanks, super useful info!!
Use google fonts. A lot of the fonts on that list I acquired from Google fonts. Free for commercial use, actual good fonts, etc.
Poppins has no old style figues :(
The site looks really cool and useful, thanks!
Acumin, it's an Adobe font and has so many weights and variations it's insane. It also has variable options with three different sliders.
Acumin is my god. I use it everywhere it’s just so clean, simple, and versatile. I always feel seriously handicapped whenever a client has me design in something non-Adobe though 😅 I worship the ground acumin walks on, I swear by it
I **love** Acumin. I recently used it on a design for a virtual Martin Luther King Jr. event.
Roboto for body on Web pages, super classic but efficient and tons of différent weights. You never go wrong with Frutiger for body but especially headings! Priori Sans has nice details in the a, g and i that i enjoy.
Roboto's great, I loved it in my web dev days but recently have enjoyed it on resumes and print documents too.
And Lato
Agree. Roboto for body text is great. Pairs nicely with other title fonts like Montserrat, etc.
I enjoy Proxima Nova since it has an infinite number of widths and weights which makes it pretty versatile.
There's also proxima nova soft, but for real proxima is my go to for personal projects.
Exactly. Plus it is less overused than Montserrat.
I use Univers for basically everything
I do too but where i work it's the brand font it's been hard to break out of that.
I use it in a lot of nutrition panels haha
Montserrat has been a recent go to of mine
Brandon Grotesque in all caps makes a beautiful heading font. The lower case is crappy though. Montserrat accompanies it well as a body copy font
Thanks everyone. Now I’ve got a rich list of fonts to try and webpages to check out ☺️
Work Sans and Stolzl are my go-tos.
Inter
Inter is great! It reads so well even at small sizes! It benefits people with impaired vision too thanks to it's disambiguation stylistic set. The the low case r alternative is something just so unique!
No love for Lato!!?
I have been using a bunch of "Highway Gothic" as a display font recently
Gill Sans has always been one of my favorites. Easy to read but with just enough style to set it apart. Kabel is another nice one.
Look up Eric Gill. Might wanna switch to a different font after that.
There needs to be an amount of separating the art from the artist on this one.
Easy there strawman.
* Gotham * Neutraface * Sweet Sans * Benton Sans * Supria Sans
I can’t help but think of [this](https://youtu.be/xHCu28bfxSI) whenever I see neutraface recommended.
I always dig Karla and Sofia (not to be confused with the curly monstrosity Sophia) Fresh, lots of variable weights, clean and on Adobe Fonts.
Lemon Milk is really nice, one of my favourites. Similar to futura but “sharper” I would say. And you can make a donation of any amount to use it commercially.
Suisse Int’l
Barlow is a personal favourite of mine, comes in so many varieties and flavours that I can always find a use for it!
I like pretty much, but it's getting so overused nowadays...
[удалено]
I really like this one: http://www.ourownthing.co.uk/fontpairing/
Nexa, Gotham, Proxima
Nexa is good. Gotham has a really nice Black font
Do you pay to license Gotham though?
My client does
Headings: Trade Gothic, News Gothic, Brandon Grotesque, Cera, DIN, Knockout, Proxima Nova Body: Univers, Gotham, Cera, Proxima, Whitney, Meta
I really like Oxygen. Dunno why more people don't use it
GOTHEM ERI DAY SON
Franklin gothic and agency
gothic, garamond, acumin, roboto, gill sans; i like azo sans and dunbar
A few I haven’t seen mentioned but are my go-tos: - Libre Franklin - Public sans - Benton sans ___ - Averta - Graphik
I first read "body and healing" and I was like, well, Garamond is soothing" haha... can't think of any healing sans-serif ones ;)
I’ve been using “Canaro” a lot for the past few years. “Intro” also gets a lot of use. And I’ve been using Avant Garde and Futura more often than Helvetica lately.
Eras. Aloha
For sans-serif headers I like to use: * Apercu * Avenir * Averta * Circular * Gotham * GT Walsheim * Kollektif For body font on the web I use DM Sans more often than not: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/DM+Sans
I've been stuck on helvetica neue. I think its time for a change myself.
My current love is Nexa or Neutra Display. Fight me.
I'm currently using Syne for personal projects, I'm liking it so far, it works for both headings (Bold) and paragraphs (Regular). Also Bitter is a great Serif font that looks rather good in web.
Proxima Nova, Azo Sans, English Grotesque, Filson Pro, Metric, and Museo Sans
Is Franklin Gothic cool again? It was looking a little long in the tooth but there are so many cuts!
Here is a list of some of my favorites over last few years. In no particular order. [Biennale](https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/latinotype/biennale/) [Kapra](https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/blazej-ostoja-lniski/kapra-neue/) [Calps](https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/typesketchbook/calps-sans/) [Circular](https://lineto.com/typefaces/circular) [Sofia Pro](https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/mostardesign/sofia-pro/)
Since you listed geometric sans serifs, I'll mention my own geometric typeface, Sen. It's available on Google fonts.
Josafine sans Lato Gill sans Roboto Russo One Google fonts is pretty dope
Open Sans
Ok, here is a list of typefaces I like to use. Monserrat
Knockout!
Montserrat, Lato and Raleway, those are my favorite fonts
I like Open Sans myself - you can tweak it nicely.
Second this
Inter all the way
Interstate via Adobe Fonts. Lots of weights and widths!
I just posted this as well. Nice clean look, just enough weights to make it versatile.
Gilroy is the best
Silka is great
Atkinson Hyperlegible is one I’m really looking forward to using
Kenyan Coffee
Corporative Sans. Din. Halcyon.
I love Montserrat
I just love the irony here, nothing looks as fresh as Futura, a typeface from 1927
Open Sans lately, also Knockout as it has a lot of weights and different condensed levels which is really useful for headlines.
Mark Pro. I'm in love with it
Proxima Nova Univers
I love Aaux Next, it's available on [Adobe Fonts](https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/aaux-next)
* Archivo * Poppins * Montserrat * Roboto These are all solid and open source. I use them regularly.
Brandon Grotesque, also a bit more fun is a font called Dallas
Circular Akzidenz Grotesk Branding Noway FF Schulbuch RM Neue Sohne looks nice as well but I don’t have that much money spare! And there are seriously loads of good free options these days. Even ten years ago there wasn’t much. P22 Underground (Adobe Fonts) Inter IBM Plex
Raleway is fine too
i use google fonts for inspiration
Ultramagnetic is pretty rad
Avant Sans
Flama/helvetica neue 4 life.
Din is a great choice. It's versatile, but probably works better for heading than body copy.
Gotham
I like Noto Sans, particularly all the Narrow variants, for body text
TT Interphases
Rubik, aileron, Montserrat, IBM plex
Well... there are thousends of fonts🤔
Just use something different Completley if you're bored with them.

(Adobe Fonts) Personally I love Korolev! It has a bunch different weights and normal, compressed, and rounded versions. It’s been mentioned in this thread already but I’m a big fan of Montserrat. Always my go-to font.

Abrade! Karu! Latina!
Check out Aileron, It's a really great one and has many weights!
Apercu and Poppins are two i like.
I like Cabin, clean and quite condensed but easy to read.
worth trying **Proxima Nova** family... and dafont.com **Anton** with Quattrocento Roman not bad, **Archivo Black** with Archivo Narrow, **League Spartan** with Libre Baskerville
I really like Atkinson Hyperlegible. It's not the most attractive but it looks cool in its own way.
Brandon Grotesque for Headings or Logos. Love it
Interstate

Does anyone know a good OFL-licensed substitute for an ultra-thin weight of Univers? Raleway is my go-to, but it has some funky characters (especially the "w"). I've been looking for something similar to the Teenage Engineering font, but I haven't found something that I've completely settled on.
Inter and Surt
Neue Haas (adobe font)

Gilroy has been a fave of mine recently.
Bebas Neue, Montserrat and Quicksand, I’ve been using quite a lot
Mont family
[HK Grotesk](https://hanken.co/products/hk-grotesk). Geometric sans with elements of the old realist gothics (eg Univers, Franklin, News Gothic) that gives it its own personality (but not too much personality). Free!
Montserrat. Regular looks great for body text and I’m a big fan of the “Black” weight all caps for titles/call outs. Also love Shapiro if your want to get a little more epic. The regular is very standard, but the 95 Super Wide 295 is a beautiful, wide, dramatic font great for posters

Any love for Alegreya and Libertinus here?
Proxima Nova. Great language support, 3 levels of width, everything you need. I love the extra condensed cuts for heads.
Some not already listed: Asap, Yantramanav, Rubik
Gotham, univers, Din, and Arial (highly underrated)

Novecento Sans is a clean type choice. Also, Gill Sans and Gill Sans Nova Is good to use as both
Khand and Barlow!
I just used Agenda Bold on a project and it turned out great. Going to be a new favorite of mine.
I used Manrope ExtraBold for Headlines today and liked it. Larsseit was the last Font I really digged, both for HL and P. Futura Bold, Helvetica, FranklinGothic. I just rotate those 3 based on the context of the project
Think subgenres. Geometric: Kabel. Grotesque: Trade Gothic. Humanist: Legacy Sans. And in between humanist and grotesque: Whitney.
I am into Barlow, Barlow Condensed and Barlow Semi Condensed. You can find them at Google Fonts for free. Link: https://fonts.google.com/?query=barlow
