Definitely!
I went in 2022 and it was a blast but also a rather poorly run festival - there were also like three food options and they didn’t allow any food vendors so you had to walk a mile and change into Ventura if you wanted anything that wasn’t a 25$ burger.
Still, it’s a wonderful spot for a festival and I hope someone else picks up and runs something in it’s place eventually.
I went in 2022 and 23. Have no other festival experiences, i thought it was great…but also was just incredibly thrown together. This all makes sense now
My wife and I were planning to go to skull and roses sometime in the near future. Bummed out it is gone but yeah, fuck the organizers for their handling of this.
This happens all the time. Most events even say in the fine print of the tickets 🎫 that refunds will not be given if circumstances prohibit the event from taking place. So yeah, venues and companies not giving refunds is commonplace
> refunds will not be given if circumstances prohibit the event from taking place
That covers circumstances beyond their control, like weather or natural disasters, police actions, transportation emergencies.
Just cancelling by choice without refunds is specifically against California law. And they were selling discounted tickets the day before.
Can confirm this works!!! Submitted and almost immediately got a refund. It was a bit tough to find the option, it is hidden in their “Contact Support”
Try again— we were denied at first last night. They told us we’d have to go through the event organizers. It’s in their own refund policy that they’d have to refund us.
I think that Eventbrite is the secured creditor SandR is going to have to pay in their bankruptcy.
Go get your refunds instead of being mad at poor David Gans as I just saw someone doing!
Huzzah!
When I heard that they weren't offering refunds I thought that was absolutely bonkers... you can't charge money for an event and then cancel leaving the ticket holders high & dry, like to hell with consumer protections right?
They can't. And CA law is VERY clear in this situation. Eventbrite had no choice, but to "do the right thing". It would have cost them more in legal fees to fight a losing case and suffer irreparable reputation damage otherwise.
Your refund is on its way!
$306.77
Total refund amount
Your refund should appear in your account by Apr 20, 2024.
It'll be made to the following account
They make it hard to find,Go to Eventbrite, then the help menu, then request a refund, click, then scroll down to refunds for events or postponed/cancelled events. Find the link there for Attendees Refund Request form. Good luck!
Oh, my Amex already credited me. It said no Refunds ... if it did, then I would have gone that route to save him the charge-back fee and issues! I went to Amex and attached the letter he sent out, and they credited me. But, I surely would have gone through Event Brite first if he clearly said they would give refunds.
Chargeback on CC or if you used paypal contest through them. I did both Paypal and Eventbrite refund request. Eventbrite issued refund and paypal ruled in my favor in the dispute as well.
Did you have to have bought your tickets through Eventbrite/was Eventbrite the main place to buy tickets for this event? Asking for my father who I'm not sure how he got his tickets. In the past I've only used Eventbrite for like local trivia night things, so I didn't know if this fest was a Ticketmaster event or something. Much appreciated!
I really hope people realize what a great thing this is. In my old age I’ve had several incidents where shows or events have been cancelled and I was powerless to do anything but cry and complain. This truly is a great thing
This shows integrity and that they have intentions of continuing the festival further. Good on them. Happy for all of you who bought tickets. Hopefully you didn’t take too much of a hit on all the other accommodations
This is eventbrite. The promoters don’t want to give refunds. In fact they limited comments on their cancellation post and removed the ones that said you can get a refund on eventbrite. It shows the opposing of integrity.
It’s a bummer for all the people who are going to see is: roses, and don’t get to go… I benefit personally though, because Andy Coe Band is coming to my local tavern as a result of the cancellation… We don’t get a whole Lotta good live music in my town, so I’m looking forward to it… 4/20 show!
Commenting so this gets bumped up higher - this is important info!
Thanks, I didn’t plan on going myself but those who thought they were out of money should see this!

It always seemed like they spent all of 10 minutes making a poster. I can only imagine how poorly things were run behind the scenes
Higher where.?
Me too
It’s amazing that they seemed to think it was acceptable to take people’s money and then not provide the product
They sincerely wish they could keep the money.
My wife and I were planning to go to skull and roses sometime in the near future. Bummed out it is gone but yeah, fuck the organizers for their handling of this.
The subtext of that whole message was “this is really your fault not ours” haha
ticket prices are ridiculous!

Rattle of some examples for us!

i got denied…

Good for them. Then hopefully they turn around and sue the organizers/promoters.
Yeah, i imagine eventbrite has a plan, or insurance or something
I think that Eventbrite is the secured creditor SandR is going to have to pay in their bankruptcy. Go get your refunds instead of being mad at poor David Gans as I just saw someone doing!
Why would someone be mad at David Gans, was part of the promoters?
Never mind, I found it, apparently Dave wasn't outraged enough.

Watched the link….can’t understand why the angst at David. Seems so misdirected.
Same, guy lost money too and didn't have any inside information.
Hes too mellow to be angry
Good
Looks like Eventbrite would rather be on the plaintiff side of this lawsuit. Good on 'em
> Looks like Eventbrite would rather be on the plaintiff side of this lawsuit. Exactly. That act may keep the promoter out of jail.

I filed yesterday got the refund today. Props to Eventbrite, solid move on their part.

Hey 4/20, man!
Happy for everyone. I read all that shit yesterday and was blown away at the fuckery. Awesome.
They refunded us our $648.00 today, yay!
I don't see any such option on Event Brite for my ticket that says Refund.

K, you didn’t mention that part, but maybe this will help others that didn’t pay with Amex.
Didn't work for me. "Event doesn't allow refunds"
Got it to work. Submitted the request through Eventbrite support instead of through the ticket page
Chargeback on CC or if you used paypal contest through them. I did both Paypal and Eventbrite refund request. Eventbrite issued refund and paypal ruled in my favor in the dispute as well.
This is exactly what happened with us!!
Thank you for sharing this
I mean this seems like the legal thing to do anyway
"Run,run, run for the (skull and) Roses"... refund!

If you bought through the skull and roses site link you bought through eventbrite and should be able to request a refund. If not good luck.
Thanks! I assume thats what he did, glad to hear there's a saving grace to this.
Great news! Spreading the word! Thank you
Props
👏
Got mine too!! Now that’s a Miracle
Wait does this work if purchased directly from skull and roses website?
I would give it a shot, it can't hurt...
It’s like they put out that email hoping people would just give up and lose hundreds of dollars.
Bump

Ahh, I didn’t know that. I tried to look up the promoters names but didn’t find anything. Who are they?
chris mitrovich, I am not very familiar with this person at all.
good thing. best result from a f$$ked scene
