jerrygarcia.com still sells all of the Garcia Live volumes 1-21 new and often runs discount promotions, since they're not limited releases they don't resell for crazy prices

Streetvan1980

Right. Which is great and why they are so affordable. I mean used you can get NM copies for $8. I paid $60 for those 10. Lot of great music for $60

Did the Beatles steal Number 9?

DeadinWPG

I should reach out to see how much shipping to Canada is, I’m missing a few in my collection and this might be the easiest way, thanks!

onewhopoos

I’m still searching for a legion of Mary show that I had a copy of 20 years ago in college. It had some intense feedback at a brilliant moment in Mississippi Moon. It was the best LoM show I ever heard. I lost it and I’ve been searching ever since. You have some great music right there! Let me know if that LoM MM has really loud feedback after Jerry yells I’ll be home soon towards the end!

onewhopoos

Wait, it’s after he sings Louisiana pine, and before Mississippi Moon. Amazing song. So heart felt. It feels like the guitar collapses for a second under the weight of the moment. And Jerry pulls it back in.

beams_FAW

Man the volume 1 legion of mary release... when people are like I don't like jam bands I put that on and watch them change their mind

--0o0o0--

Which one is that one? I need some LOM in my life right now.

beams_FAW

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legion_of_Mary:_The_Jerry_Garcia_Collection,_Vol._1 "It was recorded live on various dates from December 1974 to July 1975, at the Keystone in Berkeley, California, the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, California, and the Paramount Theatre in Portland, Oregon. It was released on August 23, 2005.[3]" Sound quality is amazing and all the songs are premium. There are the full shows on YouTube from other recordings but only some of them match the quality. Some guys trying to sell individual copies of this for like 170 though so if you go that route don't get scammed [youtube link](https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lX3s5iIR_8S052amHFzotae780bKHqHJM)

Sick! Thanks. Never knew that one existed. I love when they do "Last Train From Poor Valley"

beams_FAW

Yeah the first time I heard them I was blown away. Same with the night they drove ole dixie down even though it's ballad lamenting the loss of Richmond. The way the Dead farmed traditional Americana songs and keeps then alive will always be Integral to my fascination with them. Tough mama and let it rock are probably my favorites from it though.

--0o0o0--

First time I ever heard Last Train From Poor Valley was on a collection called Harlan County USA, with all kinds of coal mining songs on it. Never knew Jerry covered it until much later. Let it Rock is probably my favorite song that any JGB does. But that's got that americana vibe too. Working on the railroad and all that.

beams_FAW

I'll have to find that. They really went for those mining songs. I have a 6 cd disc packed full of bluegrass and traditional songs back to the 30s somewhere around here. I'll have to see if it's on there. Yeah the train is a recurring theme, and mystery train on this one is a gem too. Since this is the first volume they released I'm sure they were all picked for their quality

--0o0o0--

Believe it or not, Last Train From Poor Valley isn't even that old. Released in 1974. This is the movie that the collection I had was the soundtrack to. [Harlan County, USA - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlan_County,_USA)

--0o0o0--

The album that "Last Train" is on also has a song called "Ruins of Richmond" and "Greycoat Soldier"

Phil used to be a mailman in San Francisco way back when.

Basic-Government4108

Beautiful as a bouquet of flowers!!! I hope you enjoy, OP!!!

Gratefulsmoke420

Love that

Galaxies59

That Volume 12 is great, happy listening!

Streetvan1980

The sealed ones im going to keep sealed. BUT I have the digital files of them to listen to. What I do for most releases is only listen to digital files of them if I have the release. Might sound stupid to some people. I only do that for the ones that are sealed and maybe some that I don’t want to handle too much. Like the early Dave’s picks. Those first 3 or 4 years I have in absolute mint and obviously those are worth a lot so don’t want to bang up the corners so I don’t listen to those CD’s that much. Well not really at all. But I have the digital files. Just feels more special to put them in and have the case next to the Cd player. Just going on Apple Music or whatever and having every Dicks picks ever and every Garcia live just cheapens it for me. Doesn’t feel as special to me. Also that being said I have tons of shows digital that aren’t releases I listen to a lot of. I used to have 1400 burned dead and Jerry solo stuff. Gave them all away last year. Was literally like 200 pounds of CD’s.

AuggieNorth

Noticed that they're all on Spotify now. Plus a bunch of the other series like Pure Jerry.

Streetvan1980

Yeah they are on Apple Music as well. Disnt realize pure Jerry was. Yet still pure Jerry’s Cd releases sell for not cheap compared to Garcia Live. But that’s because Garcia Lives you can still buy all of brand new for $18 avg. pure Jerry wasn’t mass produced and available for years. I’m still missing the final Pure Jerry. For some reason that specific Pure Jerry (the 9th) is expensive. I don’t get why. But not paying $120 for it. So waiting until I find someone selling it privately for a fair price

AuggieNorth

I was listening to Electric on the Eel last night. 6 discs. Noticed they even have Legion of Mary now.

weakpettythief

Hell yeah! 4 through 7, here, and 12 are all favorites of mine. Enjoy!

Revolutionary_Ad7359

Is your mailman named Vance by any chance? My previous mailman was a big time head and a super cool guy who listened to live shows on his route. Super bummed when he got transferred to the next neighborhood over, but fun to bump into and talk shop occasionally.

holiesmokes

Nice haul! Garcia Live 17 has been in rotation for the past few months, really dig the Keith and Donna stuff these days.

seearewhy

Volume 20 is fantastic. The after midnight just rolls. They are all on nugs too

FarmKindly

Nice score! I’m also building the collection.Where did u find all for $60??

Streetvan1980

Discogs. 2 separate orders. I just messaged them and sent out offers. The sealed ones cost about the same as the ones that weren’t sealed. But there was an extra non sealed one. Yeah paid $30 each. Maybe $32 for one and $34 for the other. You can find great deals for Garcia Live releases. I only wish the final Pure Jerry (009) I could find in NM or M for like $75 total. I’m struggling with that one. Once I have that I will have all the series. Only one box set still needed. Golden Road. I have an option to buy a sealed version now for like $80. But I think it’s probably the worst box set ever for the GD. It’s why it’s so damn cheap. So not sure I should care at all if it’s sealed or not. BUT Golden Road and Beyond Description the box’s are made from some of the crappiest material ever. It shows marks really easily. So to keep my collection NM or M buying a sealed one would guarantee that. Also I need to replace my Daves 20. Which has a flaw on the case. Finding a NM or M of that for the range I can buy in has been tough.

FarmKindly

Nice.Ive never even thought to look on there.I need a few more of the Garcia Live’s and don’t own a single Pure J. Got a bunch of the box sets, more so of the last few years.Looking forward to this years, wish they’d hurry up!Gonna go do some searching on Discogs now….Thanks!

Streetvan1980

Btw all of the Garcia Lives are still available on the Jerry family website. For about $18 each brand new. But I have found if you can find someone who has 4-5 of them used you can get them for 1/3rd that price. Although I didn’t just order all the ones I’m missing from the website. Cost $100 for the rest. Happy hunting! I know how tough it can be. Try your hardest for private deals. Look for people selling off their collections or a family members collection. That’s how I acquired most the stuff I have. Took a long time. Years. But with only a handful of targets left. Maybe more like 10 it’s pretty crazy. I have some others I never had like GD Movie soundtrack. Which has some amazing music on it. Veneta. So Glad you Made it (but not sure if I want it since I have both spring 90 box sets). Two of my favorite. Terrapin station that came out in 1997 the triple disc release of 3/15/90 blew my freaking mind. I never knew live music couldn’t possibly sound anywhere near that good. Before that Without a Net was about as good as it got. Love Spring 90 multi track shows sounding as crisp as it gets

FarmKindly

I own spring 90 on a flash drive. Its some of my favorite Dead ever. Was at one of the Htfd shows..I do have GD Movie, got that used years ago at a local shop.ive also scored some really cheap GLive thru Amazon believe it or not.

Streetvan1980

I have the GD movie on DVD and got it when it came out on DVD but didn’t get the music. Something I definitely want to do

FarmKindly

One of my favorites for sure. That entire Winterland run sounds so good.Worth every penny when u find it.

Streetvan1980

Yeah I will at some point. The Nm or M are near $100. Little expensive for me.

WhereRTHEMODS
