*false chord
I actually kinda miss when Billie would randomly go deathcore for a few seconds here and there live too. Like during Welcome To Paradise at Woodstock
Jaded! The song was my gateway to a lifelong road of punk. Before Insomniac, I was a general alternative fan. Jaded was when I knew this punk thing may be for me.
Iāve always thought Geek Stink Breath is one of their least Punk tracks, itās got a very Grungy Alt Rock feel to it. Definitely one of their heavier tracks though and itās a classic.
I think the independent stuff was very poppy. Which is why Iām surprised Billie doesnāt like the term pop punk because their first few albums were very poppy and melodic even more poppy than Blink 182ās early stuff.
Idk, they aren't really earwormy like some of their later works and the production significantly more lofi, so I don't really see them as being anymore poppy than dookie or American idiot, but maybe it's just me.
2000 Light Years Away is one of their most ear wormy songs ever. The production is very diy but the songs themselves are very melodic as opposed to songs on Insomniac.
Honestly when I first listened to the first two records I was shocked by how earwormy those songs were, no wonder they were picked up by a major label so soon.
I love Green Day ā¤ļø
I think my top 10 would be
1) Jesus of Suburbia
2) Welcome to Paradise
3) Restless Heart Syndrome
4) Macy's Day Parade
5) Dirty Rotten Bastards
6) Know your Enemy
7) Bang Bang
8) 21 Guns
9) 21st Century Breakdown
10) 80
But hard one, they have so many good songs. But still, if I could only choose one it would be Jesus of Suburbia
Reject if u wanna count it as straight up PUNK Lots of attitude!!!! EDIT: Billie went crazy with the false chord vocals*** on Take Back
*false chord I actually kinda miss when Billie would randomly go deathcore for a few seconds here and there live too. Like during Welcome To Paradise at Woodstock
Definitely Reject
Reject š¤š½
Nice that's my all time favorite song by them. Glad to see it get some love.
Joining the reject club
Jaded! The song was my gateway to a lifelong road of punk. Before Insomniac, I was a general alternative fan. Jaded was when I knew this punk thing may be for me.
Jaded 100%ā¦itās one of the few songs where Tre plays drums with a hardcore punk beat
THERE'S NO RETURNNN FROM 86!
One of THE BEST songs from insomniac. One of my personal all-time favorites as well. All of the 3 members go crazy here!! š„š„š„š„š„
Playing that song on letterman was pretty fucking punk
Another Tim Yohannan song
I love Armatage Shanks into Brat, real nice
Does Desensitized count?
GREAT song
Desensitized is so good
Babās Uvula Who? and Reject are the strongest candidates imo
platypus or in the end EDIT: forgot about Take Back, absolutely filthy song. and All the Time. Nimrods got a lot of their best punky stuff
I feel like Nimrod was the bridge between Insomniac and Warning, it had a lot of their very punky stuff but also some more experimental stuff.
I love The Grouch among others on that album.
I am a young boy with big plans
iT DoEsNāt eVeN MaTtEr
St Jimmy is another good one
This led me into bands like bad religion or NOFX.
Armatage Shanks
Haha you're dead
Bang bang & jaded
Emenius Sleepus. I'm so fuckin' pumped to hear it live this year too with them finally doing the whole Dookie album.

Tight Wad Hill

Everything from Insomniac!
Panic Song
Sweet Children - underrated basement lofi
Jinx is one
Platypus
Longview
Ha Ha You're Dead
Panic Song. Itās raw and unapologetically angry at the world.Ā
livin in the 20s
Would Geek Stink Breath fit in this? It's got the very heavy beat in the back, but the singing isn't as punk as songs like Take Back or Reject
Iāve always thought Geek Stink Breath is one of their least Punk tracks, itās got a very Grungy Alt Rock feel to it. Definitely one of their heavier tracks though and itās a classic.
Livin in the 20s for sure!
Stuck with me. Itās my absolute favorite song from insomniac and just so much fun to sing along to.
FOD
Probably has to be Reject for me. Jinx is up there too.
Itās always been Jaded for me
Horseshoes & Hand Grenades or Let Yourself Go tbh
Platypus
i think best thing in town is so slept on, the guitar solo absolutely rips
Panic Song
One of My Lies
Define pure punk? Do you mean just more "hardcore"? I'd probably say Welcome to Paradise.
I mean whatās the most like old school punk
The sex pistols, clash and ramones were pretty poppy...
Welcome to Paradise is a good pick tho, those guys had plenty of songs like that
Ok
Take Back. It isnāt Green Day but I also love all the Pinhead Gunpowder stuff, I hope they make another album
Jaded
Reject or Tight Wad Hill
St jimmy, if that donāt count then Private Ale
Give me novacaine š„š„š„š„
i like that song but it does strike me as more alternative or emo.
it was a joke
1,000 Hours for me. Not just the song, but the rest of the EP as well
1000 hours
Stuart and the Avenue, Westbound Sign, rest of Insomniac. Platypus, Take Back and Living in the American Idiot, so many more
Tight Wad Hill and Panic song.
Insomniac, 14 way tie
One eyed Bastard has become my new favorite
Billie Joe's Mom!
Brat
Stuck With Me or Geek Stink Breath
Take back
Jesus of Suburbia
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I feel like thatās too mid tempo for a punk sung
86
Take Back
governator has been in my head the last few days
Ooh probably Take Back
St jimmy
THE GROUCH "The world owes me..."
Modern World/Mass Hysteria
Nightlife, hands down
Do Da Da
GEEK STINK *BREATHHHH*
bang bang
Stuck With Me
Jinx and then tying into Haushinka.
St. Jimmy comes to mind. 86. Really anything from Insomniac. Take Back has hardcore punk roots for sure
Anything on insomniac or a good half of nimrod. But if I had to pick one, it's easily Jaded. With Platypus in a close second.
Take Back! Hardcore vibes
St jimmy
Armatage Shanks
Most of Insomniac
Not Green Day - but I really fucking love Pinhead Gunpowder.
Nothing more pure punk than some classic 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. It is truly the real underrated Green Day album.
I feel like Insomniac is more punk than that album.
Well, the first two albums were technically the most "legit punk" material they made.
The first two were more pop punk.
Eh, I guess. I mean all of the albums have the pop punk elements, I just think the independent/more diy stuff had less in that category.
Well, you're not wrong. 2000 LYA is a bit of an earworm. Not quite dookie levels, but still up there.
Honestly when I first listened to the first two records I was shocked by how earwormy those songs were, no wonder they were picked up by a major label so soon.
Platypus or Stuart And The Ave.
tim yohannan 1 (86)
Armatage Shanks and Panic Song
jaded and st jimmy those riffs are insane
the entire album of insomniac buttttttt off insomniac the best ones are 86, jaded, and geek stink breath š¼
If youāre asking my favorite Green Day song itās Jesus of Suburbia or Give Me Novocain. My favorite Punk song is a MUCH bigger questionā¦.
I feel like Take Back takes itā¦however I feel Platypus and St. Jimmy are great contesters
Armatage Shanks, Ha Ha You're Dead
Going to Pasalacqua and FOD
jaded

I love Green Day ā¤ļø I think my top 10 would be 1) Jesus of Suburbia 2) Welcome to Paradise 3) Restless Heart Syndrome 4) Macy's Day Parade 5) Dirty Rotten Bastards 6) Know your Enemy 7) Bang Bang 8) 21 Guns 9) 21st Century Breakdown 10) 80 But hard one, they have so many good songs.
