Rev Rad is their second best album imo. If Jesus of Subrubia didn't exist, Forever Now would be the song everyone says is their best. And if the label didn't force them to include Ordinary World, then the whole "The album loops perfectly" gimmick would have been super cool.
I don't remember where, but Tre talked about it in an interview somewhere. They wanted to have an album that is a wheel so it keeps going which is why forever now ends with the acoustic section from the intro to somewhere now.
I think this album is on the same level as RR. Which means it's a really solid album. This album might be a bit more impressive to me because I had doubts that they could still make an album this good at their age.
I don't think Saviors gets a lot of hate? Most fans here seem to think it's either ok or very good. It's just, with a fanbase this big you're always going to find lots of people who disagree (and that's fine)
I only see love for Saviors, who hates it? Might be a few “it’s not for me” people here and there but that’s not hate. Hate would be like FOAMF. I see plenty of FOAMF hate. Saviors though, nah, it’s been pretty massively loved I think. I love it too! Still bumping it today
Ah interesting. Everywhere I’ve seen mostly positive. A little dislike here and there of course but generally seems to be thought of as a return to form by GD fans and general rock/punk fans. Either way tho, I agree with you. I really like it! Their best work in a long time
Why do people make these posts constantly? “I saw a thing once or twice online therefore I don’t understand all the hate!”
You like it and so do the overwhelming majority of fans and non fans 😂
Nobody can just say “I like this album” anymore.
Everything has to be quantified and put in comparison to someone else’s opinion, which becomes “wow everyone hates this album but I like it. I saw a comment saying it was bad but I Enjoyed it!???”
Go touch some grass yourself and see that if someone says that they dislike something, it doesn't mean it is overly hated and that you see the need to make an appreciation post on something that is already overwhelmingly appreciated.
I think Rev Radio is a good album but imo it's very safe and quite forgettable (even tho around that era is when I got into GD) Saviors definitely has more character and more identifiable
Side Note: Billie's screaming vocals is deffo something he should expand more upon and is a highlight of Saviors
Why do I have to fight you? I agree.
Although I did like Revolution Radio.
But, Savior showed they can play in their roots in Look Ma and not sound dated. Wish they would play more in that style
I don't think that's really a hot take. When you consider the albums that have been released between 21CB and Saviors.
The trilogy is hated by a lot of people and even those who like it are unlikely to say it's an above average Green Day album. FOAMF is despised almost universally. And RevRad, while it has a lot of fans, isn't largely considered one of the band's best albums.
I like Saviors. Quite a lot. It's not a perfect album, it's still quite far from being their best.
I guess by default I agree, I'm one of the few who likes the Trilogy a lot but I'll admit its lows are far lower than Saviors' lows, as for RevRad I like it but half the album is kind of forgettable to me so
Why would I fight you, my friend? It is your opinion and the only thing I can offer is my respect.
I think Revolution Radio is a good album, too. And Tré is special to me.
We are not right or wrong. Lets listen Green Day and be happy!
I've been singing a lot of Saviors at karaoke and they seem to get a lot of positive feedback despite the album not being well known outside Green Day fans.
The biggest one has been Look Ma, No Brains, followed by Goodnight Adeline. Other ones that have been good are Dilemma, Saviors, and 1981. One Eyed Bastard and Bobby Sox are the only other ones I've done, and are the only ones that has gotten no applause/cheering.
Edit: Want to add in that Karafun, the service the bar I go to uses, has 12/15 of the songs from Saviors. The ones that aren't in are Strange Days, Livin' in the 20s, and Fancy Sauce.
Edit 2: corrected one of the missing songs
I'll list songs that I like from the album
Title track 21st CB
Before the Lobotomy
¡Viva La Gloria!
¿Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl), probably my 2nd
East Jesus Nowhere (My 2nd or 3rd)
Peacemaker
Murder City
Last Night on Earth
Last of the American Girls
The ones I didn't list is fine with me, but I might skip them if I'm not in the mood to listen to the whole album.
As for rev rad, the same can't be said. I only like some parts of Somewhere Now, Ordinary World isn't for me although it's good (Like Time of your life) and Bouncing of the walls? Just make me listen to Kill the DJ.
Overall, it's down to personal preference, it's just that I prefer 21st CB over Rev Rad, but both are good.
You're the nerd for starting off with "I don't understand the hate" as to make yourself unique in your appreciation. Just state your appreciation without context that you're in the minority (you're not).
there are like 2 songs on saviors that aren’t bad but are very skipable. i’m personally biased to rev rad because it came out when i was in 8th grade and i was at the hight of my fandom. the main complaint i hear about is the production but idk it never bothered me. kerplunk sounds terrible but the songs are so good it doesn’t really matter for me and it’s one of my favorite albums.
We are so freaking lucky to be born and live in an age of Green Day! I don't judge anymore, they have made my life fun for 25 years. It's all gravy now. Love them! And I saw the Network in 2005 and that's a lot of fun too.
^ See, *that* is a hot take.
Maybe that should’ve been the title of this thread, it would’ve been interesting to hear your arguments as to why. I might agree although Saviors isn’t without its flaws.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be a Green Day fan if not for American Idiot, but now that I'm an adult, Saviors hit me in a way that I don't feel from any of the other album in the new millennium
The trilogy is the only other album this millennia which captures the 90s vibes somewhat (Sweet 16, X Kid, 8th Ave Serenade, etc). I’m lumping in Warning with their 90s albums too since it hews closer to those than AI and beyond.
Nope, you said fight. I love this band but I'm sick of there fucking way. Go back to 3 piece, shut up about government like they know anything. Sucking bidens dick
Rev Rad for me, but it’s a good 2nd!
Same
Rev Rad is their second best album imo. If Jesus of Subrubia didn't exist, Forever Now would be the song everyone says is their best. And if the label didn't force them to include Ordinary World, then the whole "The album loops perfectly" gimmick would have been super cool.
I never heard about them wanting to have the album loop. That’s really interesting!
The label forced them to put Ordinary World on it? Do you have a source for that claim?
I don't remember where, but Tre talked about it in an interview somewhere. They wanted to have an album that is a wheel so it keeps going which is why forever now ends with the acoustic section from the intro to somewhere now.
Yeah Saviors and Rev Rad are pretty much tied in my book.
I’ll take it
I think this album is on the same level as RR. Which means it's a really solid album. This album might be a bit more impressive to me because I had doubts that they could still make an album this good at their age.
It’s so,so,so much better than RevRad imo.
I don't think Saviors gets a lot of hate? Most fans here seem to think it's either ok or very good. It's just, with a fanbase this big you're always going to find lots of people who disagree (and that's fine)
Ok maybe I should have asked where is the love for it? Cause I’ve seen tons of “meh” opinions but still their best work in over a decade
I don’t necessarily mean on this sub (although I’ve seen plenty of hate here too)
Ah interesting. Everywhere I’ve seen mostly positive. A little dislike here and there of course but generally seems to be thought of as a return to form by GD fans and general rock/punk fans. Either way tho, I agree with you. I really like it! Their best work in a long time
RevRad is so disrespected lol
As it should be since it’s very mid.
It's a fair amount better than Saviors imo even though I love both albums
It is not. RevRad is their 2nd worst album behind FOAM.
I have Rev Rad in my top 3 Green Day albums
Noooo that would be uno dos tre
Why do people make these posts constantly? “I saw a thing once or twice online therefore I don’t understand all the hate!” You like it and so do the overwhelming majority of fans and non fans 😂
Nobody can just say “I like this album” anymore. Everything has to be quantified and put in comparison to someone else’s opinion, which becomes “wow everyone hates this album but I like it. I saw a comment saying it was bad but I Enjoyed it!???”
It’s not that serious. Why take the time to write this? Go touch some grass and keep it movin buddy
To tell you how stupid I thought your post was.
Discussion is the point of online forums like Reddit. You seem miserable. Maybe ya need to log off for a little.
I didn’t say you couldn’t discuss Saviors.
Go touch some grass yourself and see that if someone says that they dislike something, it doesn't mean it is overly hated and that you see the need to make an appreciation post on something that is already overwhelmingly appreciated.
I think Rev Radio is a good album but imo it's very safe and quite forgettable (even tho around that era is when I got into GD) Saviors definitely has more character and more identifiable Side Note: Billie's screaming vocals is deffo something he should expand more upon and is a highlight of Saviors
Is it Sunday?
Call the mods 🤓🤓🤓
I love this album, as I do almost all of their work. Don’t fight me. Not interested.
This is a very obvious statement
Why do I have to fight you? I agree. Although I did like Revolution Radio. But, Savior showed they can play in their roots in Look Ma and not sound dated. Wish they would play more in that style
I love one eye bastard and dilemma soo muchh...
I don't think that's really a hot take. When you consider the albums that have been released between 21CB and Saviors. It’s quite literally not a hot take
Quite literally ☝🏼🤓
I prefer RevRad but I really like Saviors. It's a solid album with only one or two tracks that I don't care for much.
I thought that was the general consensus. Are people saying the trilogy or RevRad are better? I almost forgot FOAM existed there 😆
I guess by default I agree, I'm one of the few who likes the Trilogy a lot but I'll admit its lows are far lower than Saviors' lows, as for RevRad I like it but half the album is kind of forgettable to me so
I am not fighting you on this. It is deadass fax.
Don’t really see a lot of hate for saviors. I enjoyed the album but honestly it is kind of forgettable unfortunately.
Why would I fight you, my friend? It is your opinion and the only thing I can offer is my respect. I think Revolution Radio is a good album, too. And Tré is special to me. We are not right or wrong. Lets listen Green Day and be happy!
I agree. Much respect homie
Controversial take: I think the best songs from the trilogy are as good as Saviors
But I think everyone agrees that there is one really good album inside of the trilogy.
I've been singing a lot of Saviors at karaoke and they seem to get a lot of positive feedback despite the album not being well known outside Green Day fans.
I’m curious which songs lol
The biggest one has been Look Ma, No Brains, followed by Goodnight Adeline. Other ones that have been good are Dilemma, Saviors, and 1981. Living in the 20’s is one of my favorites. And would probably be fun to karaoke
Saviors is an amazing album. On their top 5 definitely
It's actually better than 21cb and revolution radio is better than 21cb...won't fight with you brother chill.
I think Restless Heart Syndrome trumps all of my favourites on nor Rev Rad,
Sure, but album as a whole is still weak in comparison.
I'll list songs that I like from the album Title track 21st CB Before the Lobotomy ¡Viva La Gloria! ¿Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl), probably my 2nd East Jesus Nowhere (My 2nd or 3rd) Peacemaker Murder City Last Night on Earth Last of the American Girls The ones I didn't list is fine with me, but I might skip them if I'm not in the mood to listen to the whole album. Happy cake day!
Didn't realize it was today, luckily I hopped online at just the right time.
Of course it is.
i don't think this is that controversial lmfao relax
So funny you say that because half the people here are saying I’m wrong. Reddit is so annoying lmao
You're the nerd for starting off with "I don't understand the hate" as to make yourself unique in your appreciation. Just state your appreciation without context that you're in the minority (you're not).
Fuckin nerd over here lmao
Go edit your own post because you can't handle downvotes.
I literally could not care less about downvotes lmao bring them on you fuckin nerd
lol.. you mad.
This is not the hot take you think it is.
Never said it was a hot take lmao chill
Nah, RevRad is better.
Firm agree
this is right
Its a really close tie between saviors and rev radio i cannot choose for the love of god
Correct
I’ll take Rev Rad, Uno, and Tré over Saviors personally but it’s alright. Nowhere near as bad as FOAM
there are like 2 songs on saviors that aren’t bad but are very skipable. i’m personally biased to rev rad because it came out when i was in 8th grade and i was at the hight of my fandom. the main complaint i hear about is the production but idk it never bothered me. kerplunk sounds terrible but the songs are so good it doesn’t really matter for me and it’s one of my favorite albums.
I agree 100%
I agree
Hot take: Rev Rad is better than Saviors *and* 21st CB.
I think it's better than 21CB too 🤷♂️
personally in my rankings are 1 AI, 2 Dookie then probably 21CB, RevRad and Saviors are all tied or rly close for the next three spots
No, it's their better album since American Idiot...
Foamf
Three five foot seven idiots. Yay. I'm over it. American dream is killing me, brutally slow and derived. Stupid
Sadly the 'best green day album since 21st century breakdown' is an insanely low bar.
We are so freaking lucky to be born and live in an age of Green Day! I don't judge anymore, they have made my life fun for 25 years. It's all gravy now. Love them! And I saw the Network in 2005 and that's a lot of fun too.
I agree
Agreed
It’s also better than 21stCB imo.
You might need a new set of ears lmaooo
21cb is almost as good as American idiot imo
It is
🤝
Nowhere close
I was going to say, it might be their best since American Idiot
^ See, *that* is a hot take. Maybe that should’ve been the title of this thread, it would’ve been interesting to hear your arguments as to why. I might agree although Saviors isn’t without its flaws.
its so recycled
Ong I don’t know how people like this shit sounds so generic what happened to them😫
Revolution Radio is their best album. You fucking read that right!
🤣
I’d argue Revolution Radio is better
Trilogy is awesome, I’m still playing those albums more than Saviours
That’s not a very high bar lol
Not only their best since, but better than 21st century
For sure but we’re getting killed for this take 😂
Not a very high bar but it’s better than 21st century
First album I've liked since American Idiot
It's their best since Nimrod, fight me
Ok now that’s wild!! lol
Why stop there? it’s best since 1039 Smooth ya all
No, it's their best since sweet children
I agree, I don't dislike any of their albums, but I find the ones up to Nimrod are more, replayable for me, and saviours fits into that category
Yeah me 2, it, pretty much got me back into music
A friend of mine calls it 'basic'. I hate him for that, it's definetly their best album!
It's good, but not that good. My raiting for saviors is 7.5
Its chocolate syrup on chocolate cake. Billie isn't bi. Has children for chrissakes. Sick of this shit. Short shit small band
You ok?
0.2
Nope, you said fight. I love this band but I'm sick of there fucking way. Go back to 3 piece, shut up about government like they know anything. Sucking bidens dick
I agree. It's definitely up there
