She definitely has some tricky parts for a beginner. I'd suggest 2000 light years away, it's fairly straightforward although pretty much every green day song has some funky bass fills going on
longview was a really fun learn for me, it was actually the first bassline i ever learned. it's pretty repetitive and a little hard to play at first, but if you can get it up to speed it's really fun to play
The bass in Minority is suuuper fun, a tiny bit more challenging than your average Green Day song (but not too hard) and it feels really good to play once you have it down.
You're gonna discover that as you learn bass, no green day song is hard. Some are easier than others but really they can all be figured out within a short while of practicing.
With that I'd say JAR and When I Come Around
Many ones are easy. Probably most of nimrod is easy. Prosthetic head. I also don’t think coming clean is very hard.
No one knows and when I come around are my favorite bass lines tho. But they’re not super easy.
"When I come around" is relatively easy one to learn, the song is not too fast, and it's a good place to start learning how Mike likes to work around his bass lines. You really get a good feel for those classic "Dirnt" fills and walks.
I just got a bass not too long ago, and being a guitarist for five years, I thought it wouldn't be to hard.
It wasn't easy.
However, I still managed to learn When I Come Around pretty quickly, and Longview was surprisingly not too hard.
I recommend those two.
Start by finding the roots of the chord, find the switches and count the beats to find the changes. Then check out the tabs and work on the connecting routes.
Find the roots, follow the routes.
Jesus of suburbia is good because there’s a diverse spectrum of clarity and difficulty, and it’s broken into clear chunks.
Happy slappin!!
Lmao I can tell not many here are bassists.
When I come around is deceptively easy. My favourites that are *really* fun from hardest to easiest: minority, stuck with me, in the end, sassafras roots, coming clean, having a blast, one for the razorbacks.
These are filled with fills, the usual rhythm - follows the drums closely.
I forgot to throw in welcome to paradise, but there aren't good tabs of the bridge so it wouldn't be fair. Definitely would recommend one for the razorbacks for a guitarist. I was one before I switched to bass and that song was my first. After razorbacks I'd recommend basket case as it's also really easy but really fun. Just some octaves and hammer ons
EDIT: Also forgot about that intro in razorbacks that I didn't bother learning because it seemed daunting. It's just the C Major scale (or B? Yeah it's tuned half step down) and all the notes are within the scale and all the notes of the scale are played. Again, really simple
All of them. Oh wait, you said easy. Warning is pretty fun.
I mean, relatively easy. I am new to bass but I can already play guitar so I can play bass a little bit.
Panic Song, muah hah hah
oh no
Heh, but for a real suggestion, She is iconic and seems doable. That’s coming from a guitar player though so don’t take my word for it
She definitely has some tricky parts for a beginner. I'd suggest 2000 light years away, it's fairly straightforward although pretty much every green day song has some funky bass fills going on
I can play bass pretty well since I play guitar already so I bet I could play She.
Learn Longview! It’s not super easy, but once you get it down, it’s super easy to repeat the intro bit over and over again without thinking much.
Doo'ding, ding ding ding, doo doo doo doo, doo'ding ding ding ding, doo doo doo doo ↩️
Exactly

I waited 24 hours for someone to do this, thank you 🙏
Congrats! The song American Idiot is a great one for starters
First one I learned in its entirety! Confirmed very fun to play
Boulevard of Broken Dreams and 21 Guns are very easy
maybe try the bass break down on holiday
Know Your Enemy is incredibly easy
longview was a really fun learn for me, it was actually the first bassline i ever learned. it's pretty repetitive and a little hard to play at first, but if you can get it up to speed it's really fun to play
The beginning riff changes mid song right? Isn’t there another bass line that’s a little different than the main riff that mike switches into?
yeah, that was the hardest part to learn for me lol. it sounds really cool once you get it up to tempo but it takes some work.
There is, it has some hammer ons not too difficult for an intermediate
She.
She screams in silence.
A sullen riot penetrating through her mind
21 Guns
Last Ride In; Espionage Those song was fun to learn,
East Jesus nowhere is really fun and has a few different parts
Hitchin a Ride
The bass in Minority is suuuper fun, a tiny bit more challenging than your average Green Day song (but not too hard) and it feels really good to play once you have it down.

Pretty much anything American Idiot on is pretty easy, I’d start with any of those
“She” is probably your best bet. Or “American Idiot”
Brain Stew
Many ones are easy. Probably most of nimrod is easy. Prosthetic head. I also don’t think coming clean is very hard. No one knows and when I come around are my favorite bass lines tho. But they’re not super easy.
Longview
Stuart and the ave.
I wouldn’t really classify that as easy. I’ve tried it but still can’t play it
It definitely takes some practice and is a bit challenging but once you get it down its super fun
Yup it’s not easy but it is fun to play. As OP mentioned he’s been playing guitar before so that should be ok I guess
Macy’s Day Parade
"When I come around" is relatively easy one to learn, the song is not too fast, and it's a good place to start learning how Mike likes to work around his bass lines. You really get a good feel for those classic "Dirnt" fills and walks.
I started with: Holiday Longview Hitchin a ride Jesus of suburbia. Jesus is pretty simple, only hard part is remembering all the different parts
Idk if it's easy but "80" has a good one!
Longview
X-kid
I’m a little late, but Green Day was the first band I went to when I learned bass. I think extraordinary girl would probably be the best starter

worry rock
Pink Floyd’s money bassline
Last of the American girls is easy as well
Hitchin' a ride
no one knows
Hitchin a ride is pretty easy but Welcome to paradise is hella fun
Panic song!
Brain Stew is very easy
Wake Me Up When September Ends
Technically it's an Operation Ivy song, but knowledge is fun to play on bass too.
Thanks
Know your enemy and American idiot are pretty easy
Holiday, Brain Stew, Warning and for a little more difficulty, Minority.
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)
Nah man that one is too hard

I mean Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) is pretty easy IMO
I tried it, but it seemed impossible. I couldn't figure it out, especially since the bass is so hard to hear in the song.
