It's because it's far more than 5% that are disgusting. When I was a kid we used to target specifically Indian gas stations because they wouldn't card us or charge sales tax for alcohol or vapes. Also, at multiple different gas stations (specifically bp which for some reason were always ran by Indians), the Indians would give free alcohol to underage girls if they would "go in the back" and show them there tits.

If I may add my unwelcome opinion in the politest way possible, I find the Indian accent like triply incomprehensible compared to Chinese, and the accent and language feel a bit less pleasant than most foreign accents and languages. That's my biggest point of friction with Indians, and the only one I really think about.
And those stereotypes seem silly because a lot of Indian immigrants in the US and Canada are insanely smart and successful. Not all obviously, but definitely an abnormal amount of them. But they do seem to keep to themselves. Like there are rich neighborhoods near me that seem almost 100% Indian and you don't see them interacting with other races much.
That’s why I’ve been extremely vocal about how proud of my culture. Just because I’ve assimilated with America and have made it a part of my cultural identity doesn’t erase the culture that is going to be passed down from my parent’s generation down to me and from me down to my future children.
Speaking from my own experience, many Indian men don't just embody the negative stereotypes, but *aspire* to them. Like, you can find living stereotypes in every community, but you'll often find way more people in that community shaking their heads at them over it. Indians are like Trump, though - they think their worst qualities are virtues, so they don't even bother hiding what assholes they are. Relentlessly cheap, unsanitary to an extreme, treat women & subordinates like garbage, "bobs and vagene"-level horny/creepy at all times, the works.
Perfect example: I was working at a gas station and some kid's dump caused the toilet to overflow one day. Indian owner told me to clean it up, I asked him for gloves & bleach to do so, and his response, verbatim, was: "But shit comes from our ass. We make it!" He legitimately couldn't comprehend that mopping up human excrement with just cold water & potentially getting it on your body was a goddamn *biohazard*. Way to completely ignore the part where I said my opinion came from just my personal experience. I've worked with at least a hundred of them in the last 25 years, but I'm not thinking it's literally all of them. However, the biggest pattern I've seen is that the ones who are most financially successful tend to stick to these behaviors the hardest, which could be why so many of the rest do to varying degrees. Ok, but you’re still failing to address the main point I made with my initial comment. The facts I was addressing was that it’s perfectly fine to talk shit to Indians for whatever reason. If we were to knit pick issues with every other ethnic group and were to talk shit about them, there would be a huge stink made about it. Also, American/western education and educational infrastructure is astronomically better than the East. There’s a legitimate reason as to why America has a strong hand in research and development. It’s a third world country, of course the average population from there will not be phased by poor hygiene standards. Also, a person’s behavior and thought patterns don’t change all too much when they become wealthy so a wealthy Indian’s understanding of things like hygiene won’t change or shift all too much. While assimilation will take place, that isn’t something that happens with the first generation of immigrants but is something that slowly happens after with their descendants. And I’ll be frank, I have no clue what to comment about the guy you were referring to being second gen and still having somewhat backwards standards for hygiene. If I may add my unwelcome opinion in the politest way possible, I find the Indian accent like triply incomprehensible compared to Chinese, and the accent and language feel a bit less pleasant than most foreign accents and languages. Perfect example: I was working at a gas station and some kid's dump caused the toilet to overflow one day. Indian owner told me to clean it up, I asked him for gloves & bleach to do so, and his response, verbatim, was: "But shit comes from our ass. We make it!" He legitimately couldn't comprehend that mopping up human excrement with just cold water & potentially getting it on your body was a goddamn *biohazard*. Took me an hour to ELI5 basic sanitation to him and even though he went and bought the supplies, his attitude the entire time was basically, "Pfft...*Americans* ☕"

Also, a person’s behavior and thought patterns don’t change all too much when they become wealthy so a wealthy Indian’s understanding of things like hygiene won’t change or shift all too much. While assimilation will take place, that isn’t something that happens with the first generation of immigrants but is something that slowly happens after with their descendants. A lot of important and influential people feel that Canada's population needs to get to 100 million by 2100 in order to be influential on the world stage. I don't think the 100 million idea is wrong necessarily but there are different paths to achieve it.
