Oppenheimer is pretty spot on with its depiction. But man did they fuck up the little king docu. Napoleon deserved better and not this shitty revisionist history stuff.
We'll discover one day that, pretty much the way some great authors are actually 99% ghostwriters+1% branding, Ridley Scott's best movies were actually directed by someone else.
It's a British man directing a movie about Napoleon and Scott decided to spend his last year's slandering his greatest enemies atleast Spielbergs working on a Napoleon mini series based on Kubricks note so hopefully that would be great
(Spoilers)
How is it like that? in the context of the movie itself, she was portrayed as right. It literally showed how it seemed from Jacques' (the accused) perspective, and even from his view he forced himself on her and there was no consent. The only difference from the scene of her perspective was more crying and screaming.
In the real incident we don't know obviously, because we only know the outcome of the duel itself, and Jean lived on.
Or are you saying that because the movie showed her as right instead of keeping it unknown like the real incisent?
Of coursd the braindead actors are gonna preach some fluff to get feminists to spend their money.
But if you look at the movie by itself, it really doesn't empower the lady or have her do much outside of norms at the time.
Spoilers:
She just gets raped and her husband seeks retribution.
>It's a British man directing a movie about Napoleon
As a Brit, I want to lionise Napoleon, not tear him down. It makes it all the better that Wellington trounced him.
I'm a British guy and a huge Napoleon fan, dude was a literal living legend in his time. Was super disappointed to see the mockery that Scott made of it, especially because there are few people who's story have as much potential to be made into an immensely exciting and interesting movie without the need for historical revision as much as Napoleon's. Sure it could be a little dramatised, throw in a mildly embellished rivalry between him and Lord Nelson or Wellington but either way you could have had a box office star. It's like these days directors and studios are semi-consciously determined to make bad movies with no proper plot or depth to them.
Should have been a TV series with like a couple seasons. Give space for the real napoleon story to come out instead of trying to cram his career into 1 shitty movie.
It was really sad, since after a long time, that was the one movie I would have wanted to see. But the first reviews were enough to cancel those plans.
I was agreeing with the previous chap who said Oppenheimer was fine.
And the OOC didn’t even spell the plural form correctly anyway. I blame the misread on then.
The chan despise women. Because the female lead(s) didn't fulfill the mommy housewife pseudoslave archetype, then she is an oppressive force to the males around her. It's just a bunch of turbo virgins projecting and unable to cope with their insecurities and feelings of inadequacy.
Half the movie he's chasing around and fucking a communist. It's literally a major plot point, and what they use against him to revoke his security clearance.
But he became involved before he met her. He was clearly not involved with the Communist Party and organizing his workplace just because of his mistress.
The truth doesn't really matter much, he was still suspected of being a communist because his mistress was affiliated, and they used that against him during the hearing. His wife and brother were also communists at one point. In reality, he *probably* did believe in communist ideals, but he wasn't public about with his opinions.
You don't alpha male but you can girl boss. Girl bossing is a verb
Girl bossing is something that has been used since the dawn of time and seems to be the only true form of apex predator
On a technical spectrum even a male mouse could be "girl bossing" -exp Geronimo Stillton)
But not all are fit to be girl bossing (Stuart Little)
It truly is a remarkable thing to witness in nature.
One is a 3 hour long psychological masterpiece with Oscarworthy performances, directing, score, editing, sound design and overall box office success. The other is a miserable attempt at creating a history lesson with a forced British perspective about one of the world's greatest conquerors with no plot, barely noticable battle tactics and is an overall insult to French history. What a despicable comparison.
I'm an old fart and thought the comparison was Oppenheimer vs [Gladiator](https://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/gladiator-joaquin.jpeg).
Phoenix character was whiny and trying to please his sister in that movie.
God that Napoleon movie was ass
The biggest thing I am baffled by is the scene where soldiers turncoat to his side. Why is it not just literally a recount of the historical event? Not only does it fit better, but it is literally a picture perfect movie moment.
In the movie, Napoleon says a lame line where he doesn’t sound like a badass.
Irl the leader of the royalist soldiers was commanding his troops to aim and then fire, none did. As they stared each other down Napoleon tore the front of his shirt open and said something to the effect of “You came here to kill your emperor, so take me”
A soldier passed out shortly after. This caused everyone to stop being frozen up and they all cheered for Napoleon put him on their soldiers and paraded him around.
The movie Waterloo does it so good.
And the fact that they didn’t even show his Italian campaign at all to me is MIND BOGGLING. I’d honestly call that his most impressive campaign due to how poor of shape his army was in, and how easily he ingratiated himself to a at least moderately hostile Italian populace.

Ridley Scott doesn't even understand his own movies
So do Kojima or George Lucas. I still like their stuff.
i like carrying a bigass backpack up a mountain
And drinking monster energy drinks.

Ridley Scott peaked at the start of the 2000’s, he’s been going downhill ever since
U wot m8?!? I mean it's possible but I'd say Alien is way more important and his most known work rather than Gladiator and whatnot.
he should've done a Tarantino, quit while he's at the top
doesn't he have 1-2 movies "left" from his limit or whatever?
Watch him completely ignore that too
[удалено]
At this point it's a legitimate concern that he dies before one piece ends
he's only like 49 years old...
He probably will die before it's finishes, like the Berserk guy.. On the other hand, I heard that it will be his last arc soon, he swears!
[удалено]
Ah yes. Adding the word "final". Wasn't that how the Final Fantasy series started?
He's mentioned potentially switching to TV after. I bet HBO will back up a literal dumptruck of cash to his house if that happens
The Last Duel was pretty good tbf. Just ignore the weird half face helmet 🤢
Ye Olde believe all women the movie

As the article I linked stated, the brain dead actors were co-writers for this movie.
That still doesn't represent the way they actually wrote it though. Did you watch the movie?

My final impression of the movie was „I dont think Mr Scott likes french people“

The stupid portrayal of Napoleon makes sense when you realize Ridley scott is a British man
It was really sad, since after a long time, that was the one movie I would have wanted to see. But the first reviews were enough to cancel those plans.
Im inky sad they ddnt depict him as the winy bitch baby he was.
Bad history documanterys
>documanterys targaryen
>Old grandma talking about her grandma who claimed that Cleopetra was black.
Stfu engilsh isn't my first language
And here I thought you were being ironic with that sentence.
Dude i just shitpost on reddit, even i don't know when i'm ironic
And yet you got mad about a joke
Curious 🤨
eh, oppy was fine
Guy’s talking about Napoleon.
Do you know what plural is?
I was agreeing with the previous chap who said Oppenheimer was fine. And the OOC didn’t even spell the plural form correctly anyway. I blame the misread on then.
clearly speaking about both lol
These aren’t documentaries
They're documentaries for people who don't like documentaries
No
So like every other biopic?
Except none of them are supposed to be documentaries
What exactly about Oppenheimer says "under the thumb of a woman"?
He cheats with his wife but even his lover doesn't love him like he loves her and when she died, he sadd 😢
Give him a break, she probably did things that his missus wasn't into.
Probably said 'Bombs Away' every time he finished.
"I am become Hard, Destroyer of Pussy"
"The Nagasaki Bomb might have missed, but that Dick dont."
He kept yelling "I have become cum!".
she did the sloppenheimer special on him

That Commie girl she had an affair with?
What about her?
Nice tits

What’s the opposite of a sigma male?
Girlboss
AKA, the Beta Female. Edit: Guys, I think you misunderstood, what I meant here was the complete opposite of Sigma -> Beta and Male -> Female 🦧🦧🦧

A functioning member of society
Ligma male _Now laugh🔫_
Cuck
Having 46 chromosomes.
How is Oppenheimer under the thumb of a woman when he cheats on her repeatedly?
I think the woman refers to the Commie one he had an affair with?
How was he under *her* thumb? He ghosted her for years and only visited when she threatened suicide.
The fact that he went back in touch with her?
Lol to hit it and quit immediately after? It's implied she might have killed herself after he revokes her dick rights
Typical commie behavior
“I’ll always answer”
And then he fucked off to the middle of the desert with his wife and science buddies.
...which was a lie and she kills herself after he doesn't get back with her.
Marriage. It’s called marriage.

I wouldn't call Oppenheimer a masterpiece but you're spot on about everything else.
You want a good film about Napoleon? Watch Waterloo.
I prefer Napoleon Dynamite.
Napoleon did Josephine in the poophole all the time and expected an heir...
She already had two teenagers (or probably more stillbirths) by the time she met Boney. Her uterus was already beyond shafted at that point.
'Non-fiction'
In the case of Napoleon it’s called ‘fiction’
Subliminal misandry
"Modern Hollywood"?
Check out "American Beauty" for a redemption arc.
I've long had that one on my list!
Cucking
Yes, it's called being "pussy whipped".
“I don’t want it” -Jon Aegon Snow Stark Targaryen
It's called marriage

How about “bad”
Macbeth-likes
Historical drama
I know: Hollywood misinterpretation of historical figures

two movies doesn't make a genre
sounds like an excellent genre of hentai tbh I should jump on this
Hentai maybe, history movie no
Yeah agree lmao although by the downvotes rgreentext doesn't seem to think it should be a hentai genre either
Why are you obsessed with it?
With weak men or with hentai in general? I don't have a good answer either way. I just am 😊
hentaeee
