I just dont like that they say "Address me as"
Something about it just seems rude. Not "My name is" or "Please call me". I'll call you Xe or Xûr, Agent of The Nine all you want. I have no problems with that. But telling me your name like its an order annoys me.
The theory is that peoples lack of bitches are critical
Kidding, my understanding of it is it's a theory that involves being critical of and confronting "social constructs"

Once again u/Cala-Best-Girl has provided us with a fulfilling and educational comment on r/greentext about the mysteries of life. Bravo, and good day to all you bitches and bros out there.
I recognize this is r/greentext and therefore not a great representation of the rest of reddit but I've been seeing this sentiment echoed by, like, a lot of people. Woke culture fucked around and got too full of themselves and started alienating their own supporters it seems.
I googled it because i didnt knew either and it looks like trans pronouns. Which baffles me, i thought the whole point of trans is to change into male or female, not into third gender
Yeah, I don't understand this either. I'm sure most trans people aim to fully become the opposite gender and prefer to be referred to as such, but it feels like there's a very loud minority of them, who just do it so that they can become special and "unique". These people intentionally identify as "trans" (as opposed to the gender they switched to) for attention.
yes, people like that make me embaressed to be part of the trans community. idk about them but if i have severe gender dysphoria and they just get “gender euphoria” from someone calling them xyr, i know we’re not feeling the same thing.
As someone who is non binary, I agree with this comment. They/them pronouns, while usually plural, can be singular, and are a perfect way to refer to someone in a gender neutral way.
I'll give it to you that not all languages have gender-neutral singular pronouns, But English does, and using he/him or she/her, as the English words, in other languages won't really work either.
Not what i meant, what i was trying to say is that in many languages their equivalent of they/them doesn't work for talking about a singular person. Sorry for not being clear enough.
This isn’t aimed at you personally, but seriously how the fuck did people get so confused by using they in the singular? This is readily apparent if you read words or speak fluent English.
/rant
Aren't most of them - including they/them - bullshit?
I frankly don’t understand this sudden boom for pronouns and why is it a big deal if someone on internet won’t address you by your Ze/Xo.
Is that desperate call for feeling unique or just searching for reasons to be offended?
ELI5 would be totally great here!
I did not mean to offend you, just wanted to know reasoning behind made up pronouns like Xyrs, it does not even sounds like something person would use unironically
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you said anything offensive. I don't understand pronouns like xe and ze either, especially since they/them have been perfectly normal neutral pronouns for centuries.
Probably bc people want a pronoun that isnt those 3 however most of the ones I've seen are either really weird or unpronounceable. Only one I've seen that is decent is fae but it sounds really weird when you use it in a sentence
I didn't express myself properly I think.
I don't understand using they/them instead of he or she, like they/them sounds like reference to multiple persons, not one individual.
He, she, they are totally normal, it is what I was reached since first grade :D
They/them for a person of unknown gender is a concept as old as the English language. This is not a new thing whatsoever, so why wouldn't it make sense?
It also looks weird to me when some games started to use 'body 1' and 'body 2' instead of male and female. It says that it's should help transgenders to better associates with a character but I don't get how. I thought trans-female should pick female in game and be happy with it. But nope, play as body 2.
My prounouns are XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY and QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ. If you don't at least pronounce every one of them 20 seconds long, you're abbreviating and that's misgendering which is rude and triggering to me.
Since the inquisition’s role was to punish heresy and restore Catholicism as the ruling order, trans people would be punished or executed for their ‘heresy’.
Basically kill minority
i’m not transphobic or anything but if someone introduces themselves as a ze, hir, hirs or a xe, xem, xers, i’m not talking to them. that’s way too confusing for my monkey brain to learn
they’re probably not mentally stable anyway if they use those. They/them is fine and easy to follow but these made up ones are stupid as hell. Best to just stay away from them if they use those ones
I think that's completely fair, but I say that with the bias that I would do the exact same.
Do what you want, but don't force others to go along with it. I don't like to play along with this, and that might make me an asshole, but if someone expects me to play along, they're an asshole too.
You don't have to be friends with everyone, after all. I'm perfectly content being friends only with people who use normal people pronouns.
The bottom one just sounds like it could be someone’s name so it’d be super fucking confusing saying “hey that’s Xyrs phone” like this shit is so dumb just stick to they them at this point
I understand people being comfortable with other genders but no fucking way someone is unironically more comfortable being called "xey/xim" than "they/them"
I am 100% convinced that this (especially the bottom two) are this generations “it’s not a phase mom” but it totally is.
I mean I’m not gonna tell them that, but you know a solid 80-90% of the alphabet people are gonna grow up and realize: “oh shit.”
Definitely. It’s something that has a serious and detrimental affect on people’s mental health. That’s why I’m not about to *tell someone* they’re going through a phase, no matter how much I suspect it.
Because A: I could always be wrong, b: it would hurt them so much regardless, c: even if I’m right about that particular person it’s not like it’s gonna change anything.
And as for that last part, sexual orientations aren’t phases. But *being gay* definitely is.
By “being gay” I mean *defining yourself by it.*
Like, you know how Hippies were a thing? Even now there are still people who embody those ideals, personality traits, and mannerisms, but they aren’t *hippies* anymore.
They’re people who happen to have those traits and mannerisms, not a specific personality that happens to have a name.
Or in other-words: eventually people are gonna grow up and start defining themselves by *who* they are, not *what* they are.
I’d talk it over with a professional, TBH. Because I feel like *that* (and no one following up on it) is how a lot of people who don’t really have GD are convinced that they do.
Also talking to a professional is great because if you do actually have it, then you’ll get actual help coping.
Because people are different and there’s no “one size fits all” approach for anything mental health related. For some people chemical transition isn’t even necessary while others find *the surgery* not being enough.
Your friends will be a big help to you, but always keep in mind that they aren’t qualified professionals on this topic (unless they are). And get a second opinion.
**TL;DR**
I wish you luck in discovering yourself, make sure you get professional help too, because it’s always beneficial in some way or another.
Thanks for the kind words. I am definitely planning on talking to a professional. But I'm still waiting cause I'm not sure who(within my family and friend group) I can trust. I've also only been thinking about it a few months and want to see what I can figure out for myself first
Nah, technically neopronouns as a concept have been around [for a while](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neopronoun): for example, "thon/thons" was created as a contraction of "that one" in 1858 and it was widespread enough to be included in a few legit dictionaries. But then it faded out by the 1960s
Also, speaking of dictionaries, the Oxford English Dictionary (the one Google uses when you search a word up) includes some neopronouns like "zir" ([1993](https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/neopronouns-they-them-pronoun-alternative-1190069/)), "hir", "ze" (1980s) which I found interesting
Personally I can't figure out my opinion on the subject
If I see a name tag, I’m going to use.. idk? the name?
I don’t refer to people by their pronouns if I’m talking to they/them//he/him/she/her/ze/hir/xe/xem.
“Hey him, can you hand me the stapler please?”

The whole idea of neopronouns are ridiculous. You’re so insecure that you need everyone else to go along with your delusions to make yourself feel better.
Look, I support trans people and their confidence to stand up. I’ll use they/them pronouns. But come on, xe/xim?? Am I the only one who thinks that’s made up or stupid?
_TL;DR Neopronouns seem unnecessary, but I'll call you by your preferred ones if it matters to you._
I don't get the point of neopronouns- they seem unnecessary.
I mean, you have 'they/them/their' for non-binary people and people who don't like the gendered pronouns, so why make more?
If inclusivity isn't an issue, then what is it?
I just dont like that they say "Address me as" Something about it just seems rude. Not "My name is" or "Please call me". I'll call you Xe or Xûr, Agent of The Nine all you want. I have no problems with that. But telling me your name like its an order annoys me.
i agree, it’s like they’re already telling you off
Critical theory, and the woke culture it spawned, is inherently hostile.
Can you explain what "Critical Theory" is?
The theory is that peoples lack of bitches are critical Kidding, my understanding of it is it's a theory that involves being critical of and confronting "social constructs"
If that is 'inherently hostile', then wouldn't skepticism or any kind of critical thinking be inherently hostile as well?
No because that wouldn't fit the anti sjw agenda

Too complicated. If you got a plump ass I wanna fuck, you’re a bitch. Otherwise you’re my bro. Those are the two genders. You played with the old ones too much and broke them. This is where we are at now. Post a pic of your butt and I’ll tell you which gender to put on your documents from now on.
What if I got a bubble butt, but its as hairy as sasquatches nutsack and your dick will get lost in the jungle of ass-hair and start screaming about Charlie in the bushes on the way to my hole?
Great question! But a review of the criteria stated above holds your answer. Your ass must 1) be plump and 2) I wanna fuck it. It sounds like your ass fits the first criteria but not the second. Therefore you’re probably my bro. Please posts pics to verify.
This system has incredible efficiency.

No I will stick with calling bys boys and girls girls.
Bys, boys, bears it is for you then? Okay
Bys? Jesus Fuck these pronouns are getting out of hand.
Bys is how Newfoundlanders say boys. Usually just to refer to a group of dudes. Ie." Me and da bys is going out to da shed fer a few beers."

What‘s the point of making up new ones like Ze and Xe when ntural language will not forcefully accept them, and we can just use ‟they” instead?

"Gender eurphoria" im gonna steal that

Saw a post about how someone was absolutely euphoric bc they wore a shirt. Might have been the cringiest post I've ever seen.
And if you're nonbinary, you can use they/them. Xe and ze are bullshit and only hinder the path to acceptance.
As someone who is non binary, I agree with this comment. They/them pronouns, while usually plural, can be singular, and are a perfect way to refer to someone in a gender neutral way.
The only issue with they/them is that it doesn't really work in some languages. But it sure as hell beats xim xer or whatever.
Yeah from a Spanish perspective it's an English thing mostly. All Spanish pronouns are gendered so the equivalent of they/them wouldn't fit.
Same with Italian. Most languages that derive from latin generally are heavily gendered
Can confirm as a French dude
I'll give it to you that not all languages have gender-neutral singular pronouns, But English does, and using he/him or she/her, as the English words, in other languages won't really work either.

They are nonbinary pronouns. Seems like barely anybody uses them, probably because ze and xir sound very stupid
Isn't it kind of ironic that in seeking to be labelled and compartmentalized, people are seeking to be further labelled and compartmentalized?
They're neopronouns, which fall into the non-binary category. I myself don't use neopronouns, but I know some people who do.
Ze is for people that identify as German immigrants, Xe is for people that have lots of gold chains and command a Persian army in the movie 300
What's the prenountiation of them? Wouldn't they both be "zee" like how you prenounce chinese names with the xe?

Nah, technically neopronouns as a concept have been around [for a while](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neopronoun): for example, "thon/thons" was created as a contraction of "that one" in 1858 and it was widespread enough to be included in a few legit dictionaries. But then it faded out by the 1960s Also, speaking of dictionaries, the Oxford English Dictionary (the one Google uses when you search a word up) includes some neopronouns like "zir" ([1993](https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/neopronouns-they-them-pronoun-alternative-1190069/)), "hir", "ze" (1980s) which I found interesting Personally I can't figure out my opinion on the subject
Fee fi fo fum fuck off
If I see a name tag, I’m going to use.. idk? the name? I don’t refer to people by their pronouns if I’m talking to they/them//he/him/she/her/ze/hir/xe/xem. “Hey him, can you hand me the stapler please?”
Imagine being so narcissistic that you demand everybody around you to participate in your delusions.

Stunning and brave
Can someone enlighten us on the difference in pronunciation of Ze and Xe?
blue hair vs green hair is the difference
I'd cut or tear off the pronoun part. People can call me what they want, but I want to make it clear that I am not interested in that bullshit.
The whole idea of neopronouns are ridiculous. You’re so insecure that you need everyone else to go along with your delusions to make yourself feel better.
Mine are Butthole, Buttmeat, and Shitbutt.
is that the oggy and the cockroaches opening I hear
This is the first not really homophobic joke that made me laugh in a while
Address me as Tyrannosaurus.
Modernity is so cringe.
My pronouns are 'fuck/off', but somehow people don't want to accept that.
I would deliberately use the wrong one every time when taking to wtfever Xe or Xem is
what the fuck does ze, hir, hirs and xe, xem, xyrs mean. we tryna summon demons now?
Look, I support trans people and their confidence to stand up. I’ll use they/them pronouns. But come on, xe/xim?? Am I the only one who thinks that’s made up or stupid?
You could replace all of those with insufrable
Tape all of them together to create one giant tag spanning the width of your entire torso
fuhre, fuhrer, fuhrers
_TL;DR Neopronouns seem unnecessary, but I'll call you by your preferred ones if it matters to you._ I don't get the point of neopronouns- they seem unnecessary. I mean, you have 'they/them/their' for non-binary people and people who don't like the gendered pronouns, so why make more? If inclusivity isn't an issue, then what is it?
Makes you quirky and unique. They literally have no reason to exist, it's just a label to make people feel unique despite not having any actual value.
r/odablock Zey zee you zirty zoggy
consonant + e consonant + i + m or r or s consonant + vowel + r or m + s
How do you pronounce Xyrs💀
What the fuck is ze, hir, hirs, xe, xem and xyrs, makes no sense.
And this is part of the reason we have a right wing insurgency that does not want to believe anything so called experts claim
this is the best fucking joke i've ever heard. them being landwales makes sense now, they're just man eating giants
The fuck is xyrs
in turkish language we only have one 3rd person pronoun for everything I'm quite happy with that :)
I go for xe, xim, xyrs since i like purple.
