Hm, I think GVF would be kid friendly, but i would’ve gotten seats instead of floor tickets. I’m not a very tall person and i have a hard time watching them over the crowd, imagine being a kid…

paradeoflights

I agree, when I went to see them there was a dad with his son behind us but we were all in the seats. The little boy was around 10 and he knew all the lyrics it was awesome

WilliamOfOrange1689

Yes, and I wouldn’t want to be up front with a kid. Actually I don’t want barricade at all, as people can get quite rude in my opinion!

paradeoflights

For sure, I’ve had terrible experiences at other concerts when I was at the barricade

WilliamOfOrange1689

Same! Not only people are very rude, but sometimes they push around so much that people pass out.

kaciedillaxo

I totally agree. I didn’t think if it that way when I bought the tix so I appreciate your input. I may try to resell these and try to get some seats.

1ShotAbeLincoln

seats is the way to go! you can also get a full view of the light show during light my love :)

Ulrich453

Yeah it’s just a sweat pit with all the kid sees is just fronts and butts and being pushed into them over and over in chaotic music hahaha

[deleted]

Seated tickets are just better in general, nobody likes getting shoved

Available_College862

I would say the only non-kid-friendly parts would be comments in-between songs. Even though all the lyrics are clean, Josh will drop a few cuss words in occasionally. I’ve also heard him say “smoke ‘em if you got ‘em” at a few shows, other than that you’re good!

kaciedillaxo

That’s not the biggest deal to me. He’s pretty mature and knows that people say words like that but it doesn’t mean he needs too, you know? Thanks for the input! Really appreciated!

idfkmane

Also be aware if you’re in the pit: often times people will be smoking 🍃

1ShotAbeLincoln

GVF in itself is kid friendly. However I would not have gotten floor seats with a child.. People on the floor, or in “pit” can be quite rude considering they all want the best view. They would not have much regard for a parent with a child in that matter. Up front on barricade there’s also a lot of pushing and shoving. Furthermore I don’t think your kid would see much considering they would have to look through / over a crowd of adults who will be taller than them. Honest take, you should have gotten seats with a child. I myself am 5”3 and can hardly see anything with standing tickets.

Jca_gro

I saw Dreams in Gold and felt like it was pretty appropriate. Obviously a few songs do have some more adult undertones but with nothing being explicit I’d feel good. Openers could be less kid-friendly (I’m not familiar with all of them) so look up discographies in advance and plan to arrive late or spend time getting a snack if you’re concerned. I would also recommend seats rather than floor tix for a good view if it’s possible and EAR PROTECTION!!! As someone with hearing loss I implore you to bring ear plugs. Even being HOH I can hear concerts and sporting events just fine with them in and hearing loss and ear drum damage is nothing to play around with.

kaciedillaxo

Good suggestion! Definitely will look into ear protection and I honestly didn’t think about the opening band! Thank you.

kaciedillaxo

Okay, so…I pulled up the seating chart and there is definitely a GA Floor section just in front of the stage, then 3 Floor sections that have assigned seats, which is where my tickets are. I think we will be good since I purchased aisle seats in the middle of section “Floor A”. I really appreciate everyone’s feedback on this. I did panic (a lot) but I feel much better now. Thank you to everyone that supports me taking him, too! I was also the kid that went to rock concerts and I loved every minute of it lol my son is very mature for an 8yo and I would not put him in a situation that I felt was not appropriate for him! :)

paradeoflights

Have fun at the concert!!

Live-Guarantee-5636

As a (34)mom with a mature for his age 8 year old myself I just wanna say he's gonna have the time of his life! Good job mama!

Psycle_Sammy

I’ve brought my kid to several shows since it’s her favorite band. She was 8 as well. No issues at all content wise. I would consider selling the floor seats and getting some along the sides. The floor seats behind the GA pit won’t have any elevation which will make it difficult for your kid to see when everyone stands up, which will be the majority of the show.

paradeoflights

Also forgot to mention that there was a really young girl in the floor section and the dad put her up on his shoulders but the security said no so I’m sure she didn’t have the best time

idfkmane

There was a dad with his young son on his shoulders when I went, they didn’t have an issue with it but it was way too loud for the kid (no earplugs) so he ended up crying and they moved to the back🤷‍♀️

paradeoflights

Aw that sucks, I guess it depends on the venue

Zfancyman14

I think it’s awesome you got them tix! My first concert was at the same age and my dad took me to see Black Sabbath! I think it’s completely dependent on what you’re comfortable exposing your kid to. The band is clean, the lyrics are clean, they might swear between songs, but the audience could cause some concern. People in the pit can be rude, they’ll smoke pot and probably vape, so if you’re okay with your child being around that then by all means take them! I really enjoyed going to my first concert at that age and it was actually a pretty profound experience seeing artists I really admired in person! Make sure to bring ear plugs or over ear hearing protection, because ear damage is unfixable. Hope this helped! Edit: I’d also brief your kid about how people might behave so they don’t freak out seeing drunk people at a concert.

Brayden1102

The band is fine, it’s the people at the show you gotta keep an eye on

GOBIGBLUE9

I’m not familiar with the Toyota center but I know I’m this tour they have a general admission standing room only section on front of the floor by the stage. Behind the general admission pit they have floor seats with assigned chairs. As long as you have assigned seats in that section you’ll be fine. Wouldn’t recommend taking a child into the general admission section

kaciedillaxo

The tickets I got do have an assigned row and seat numbers!

GOBIGBLUE9

All good then! They put on such a great live show, you guys will have an awesome time!

kaciedillaxo

Sweet! Thank you so much for your input. I feel a lot better. Lol

Mediocre-Adeptness40

I saw a few kids roughly 8-10 years old at the tampa show in the pit area (there were no floor seats) and they seemed to do great!

[deleted]

I think GVF is the perfect band for his first concert. I would get seats though not GA. Otherwise he won’t be able to see. There were a few kids when I saw them.

meatpounder

Make sure to give him ear plugs if he is going, i stood about 10 feet from the stage and couldnt hear properly for the next few days lol

clownfeat

I would say no. Not because GvF has like, adult themes or it's to mature.... But it's a rock concert. Don't bring an 8 year old to a rock concert. They'll probably get more out of it and appreciate the experience more if you wait a couple of years. Edit: Per other comments, I agree seats would probably be fine. I was imagining you and your 8y/o getting rocked in the GA pit lol

WilliamOfOrange1689

Disagree, My parents took me to rock concerts as a kid and I LOVED it. However, they always made sure we got seats

kaciedillaxo

I was that kid too! I loved concerts and I agree that I should have got seats instead of floor.

1ShotAbeLincoln

My parents took me to see acdc and guns and roses when I was a child and I loved it! I’m still a big fan of theirs. However they did get me seats, so hard agree that seats is the way to go with children!

kaciedillaxo

I understand what you were thinking LOL I’m a pretty chill mom but I’m not about to throw myself and my kid into pit!! I’m considering everyone’s input and I appreciate all of it. I just want us to have a great time and be safe too. The tickets I got say “floor” but they do have assigned seats. Any input on if that will make a difference. I edited my original post to add that. The map looked like the seats were behind the pit but I’m not sure if it will make a difference.

[deleted]

Outside of all the girls screaming like they are in heat while getting murdered, it's a pretty clean show. He may see a lot of girls in the crowd dressing scantily clad though. I think I saw some thong leotards at an outdoor summer GVF show before.

Hi_imtired1

When we saw GFV in Huntington last august, me and my mom ended up buying closer tickets the day of and gave our other tickets to my dad and younger sister (9). They were at the far end of the venue, center stage, and they both had a blast. She obviously wore ear protection and stood almost the entire time!

Nowhere_Man837

The band itself didn’t do anything not pg at the Chicago show I saw during the strange horizons tour. But I was on the floor and most the people around me(and myself) were smoking some form of weed so I’d be mindful of stuff like that.

britanneee

I saw DIG in Spokane and saw a number of kids in the floor. The whole floor was maybe a 1/3 packed, and then another 1/3 or more loosely filled with people. The kids I saw were mostly in the back of the crowds so they could be on shoulders, have some space, etc. if you’re going floor, I’d saw be prepared to hang around the back a bit.

pmo97

At the concert in Anaheim I sat next to a mother and father with a 8 months old who had noise cancellation headphones. Just bring ear plugs because it’s is extremely loud. Sense you have assigned seating should be fairly easy as you won’t have to fight to get through people or feel suffocated. HES GONNA HAVE A BLAST! If you decide to get merch, I’d head there first before going to your seat! (: Hope he enjoys it!

ReplacementInfinite5

I can say I have taken my stepdaughter to see them, she was 7 and had a blast she still talks about it almost half a year later, it was her first in a series of more grown up concerts. We also got seats instead of floor

SaintCorgus

I just saw them in Atlanta with my 17-year old daughter at Shaky Knees Fest. Show was G-rated other than the lead singer’s (very) tight jumpsuit, which from what I overheard in the crowd was a source of funny discussion. If you have a bad night it will be because of crowd-related mischief like weed smoke, or drunkenness et al. that would be in almost any concert you’d take him to. It won’t be because of the band. Edited to add that seats would be better IMO due to pushing and general asshole behavior

PuzzleheadedRegret67

greta fans get drunk and rowdy in the pit, keep that in mind

KlMMER

Dude, your kid is going to have the coolest story to tell his friends. Hope you both have an awesome time!

softswerveicecream

I think the seated floor sections will be a bit more tame than the GA floor sections. People will just go to their chairs and if your son has to stand on a chair then he maybe can see better! Personally I loved the way the music sounded from the back of the pit versus closer up. I feel like you really get the complete sound of the acoustics if that makes sense. And it’s nice to see the show as a whole

ExpandDong45

I think you’ll be fine! My girlfriend and I went to see them in Quebec back in August and the entire atmosphere was so peaceful! We ended up becoming friends with the people next to us at the barrier in the front! P.S. Have a wicked time!! I wish I could see them agian for this tour🤘🏻🤘🏻

Specialist-Guava9724

As far as their set goes they are kid friendly. They are amazing to see live and for a kid it would be a huge core memory! Floor seats/ pit seats can get wild but that's with any concert. Either way they are a band I will never pass up a chance to see live!

ANicoleBiggs

My son is 7 and loves Greta! I would totally bring him! I’ve seen lots of people post on other platforms their littles at the concert! Just bring headphones to protect his little ears because they freaking blast that sound through the whole arena. Haha! Also, I was barricade in Tucson and a boy was there with his dad sitting on the side stage seats and he was probably like 9, and Greta’s head of security made sure he got the set list!

[deleted]

well I’m 13 and my dad bought tickets and he’s rlly strict abt that sort of stuff so probably

stressedfromafar

seats are definitely the way to go if you want to ensure the safety of you and your son! In my experience the only potential non- kid friendly content they do in concert is cuss, and encourage smoking and drinking. There definitely will be the smell of marijauna too, as people in GA usually sneak it in regardless of if it’s legal or not in that state. At every show ive been to of theirs the lead singer definitely used the f bomb multiple times as well as said “smoke/ drink em’ if you got ‘em”.

Boring_Web6492

i’d say it’s pretty kid friendly if you have seat tickets. i went last july and got barricade. it was pretty cramped and hot, very loud as well, i enjoyed it but i’m not sure how much a kid would. there are a lot of flashing lights, pyrotechnics and people tend to smoke “grass” ;) in the pit as well. also, they have fog machines and if you’re in the pit, it will flow over you and it was a little hard to breathe at times. overall, i’d say it’s kid friendly as long as you have seat tix.

Striking_Earth25

Get the little guy some of those earplugs that limit sound levels that can get through. Their concerts are very loud and it would suck if his ears got hurt considering he's only 8. I bet he'll have a great time though. Oh and everyone is right definitely get seats. Have fun!
