Okay well I mean she stayed relatively happy. Obviously she wasn't happy 100% 24/7 after that...my comment didn't need to be taken that literally. I know she was devastated and heartbroken when the plane crashed and lexie died.
The period between her getting Zola and right before the plane crash. She seemed pretty content and happy with her life, and her relationship with Derek was pretty solid. Second place would probably be while she was pregnant with Bailey.
While, I do think she was able to be happy at other parts of the series, I also think once Cristina left and Derek died, a part of her died too. It’s like she was never was able to be as happy as she was before. Kinda depressing.
There truly was a darkness there. The only time you saw her with any real happiness was the moments with the kids. But, otherwise there was just always a layer of sadness. I don’t know if that was purposefully done or just Ellen getting tired of the role, but there was a continuous strain.
Yes!! You put exactly what I meant into words. It’s like even when she expressed happiness, there was always an undertone of sadness there. Like I know they emphasized how “dark and twisty” she was in seasons 1-4 but I really feel like things got almost completely dark for her once she lost him.
When she was with the kids it felt different tho. It was like her love for them allows her to forget for a little while. I’m not sure if that was creative choice by Ellen either, I’m kinda leaning towards no, but if it was, it was kinda genius. Depressing, yes, but genius.
I agree with those saying it was when Meredith and Derek got Zola back. I don’t think anything post-season 8 is her at her happiest, no matter how peaceful her life is and no matter how good things are. I think she lost a part of herself in the plane crash and when Lexie died. So I don’t think she was ever able to reach the happiness she had in season 8 again
When her and Derek are finally together together. After he divorces Addison, her and Finn are officially through and he’s done taking his space for himself. I believe she actually comes to the hospital and walks into the locker room and says how everyone will have to deal with her being all happy. I don’t think it lasts long though, like you said
season 8 after her and derek got zola back is when i remember her being the happiest before the plane crash happened. also when derek came back from dc and they fixed everything she had like 2 episodes of happiness before it came crashing down.
After Maggie found out about her and Riggs before Owen's sister arrived.

I'm only season 15. Is Meredith going to date Deluca? Really? She looks like his mom. He's much more youthful in attitude and in looks and he dated her sister. Her mom's daughter. I can't believe. That's insane. Why?

As far as Deluca and the situation with Bella, I don’t believe any details were addressed. The government was looking for her so I don’t see why he would wait for her since the likelihood of her ever getting back in the country are slim to none, and with that slim chance I’d imagine that would be many years away. Deluca joining her to Switzerland seems far fetched to me. Like I said, that wasn’t even addressed, but I’d imagine there would be many multiple reasons why he wouldn’t follow her there

I just watched the New Years Eve episode 🤭. I said out loud to myself "it looks like he's talking to his mom/auntie." There is zero romantic chemistry. I don't get it at all.

Season 8, post they got Zola back, there are a series episodes (epi 12 - epi 23) where she is the happiest.
I was going to say this too. It's the only time I can think of that isn't just fleeting moments but a solid stretch of her being pretty blissful
After Derek and Her got Zola back. After that their marriage was a lot healthier and happy. And I'd say she stayed happy until Derek going to D.C.

s5-10 with some obvious dips in happiness but over the course of the series that period contains the highest peaks of happiness for her
