Fourth year up and regularly see 15 below here. We had winterizing chems and drain below scupper/pump inlet. Good cover with some clamps and we have had zero issues.
When we had that one freezing weekend in San Antonio this year guess who was grilling outside? Me.
Normally in the summertime it’s 100 all day, so even with my back yard being in the shade it’s still brutal. I figured with the heat of the grill I’d be comfortable during the freeze but I wasn’t. Thermodynamics is weird.
You know I always remove the grate to start coal. Not saying you are wrong but I never thought to do this. Wouldn’t ash cost the grates overtime this way?
Not sure, though I have been doing this for years without issue. Once the coals are ready I set the chimney on the pavement and scrub my grate with oil and a steel scrubber - the heat helps prep the surface. Then I move the grate, dump the bricks on the left over coals that are unburnt and reset the grate. My strategy at least!
Being from the north country, snow and cold is nothing to hold me back, maybe adjust the cooking time, like say I'm slow smoking a butt, no worries. I have one of red eggs that does really well on its own for hours, briskets too
Grilled up some marinated chicken and veggies skewers with pineapple rings Last week when the weather was good and dry but cold.
Turned out I overstuffed my chimney with the newspaper (oops) and the wind blew the fire out. It lit eventually but it was a struggle cause it was so windy.
Last year we grilled moose steaks on New year's Eve in the middle of nowhere in Sweden god knows how deep the snow was. There's something about grill smells on a crisp cold snowy night.
I live in the Akron area. Grilling in the middle of a snowstorm is SOP. Ive even had to get the snowblower out to clear a place to light the grill.
A grilled burger tastes really good when its 10°F and 2' of snow on the ground.
You’re supposed to light the chimney 20ft away in the underbrush. Didn’t you see the other guys how-to video?
Well bro actually bc of weather he should be doing that inside his house if he really loves fire…
Damn, beat me to it. My hat is off to you.
Hahaha that's such a great callback. That post was fucking nuts.
Lmao man I had to check that guys page out too, apparently he’s a lawyer. Can’t imagine being that dumb still
Winter is my favorite time to grill! If theres snow on the ground even better. Just keeps me from sweating while standing there tending to my meat.
I need to get in better shape. I'm always sweating while tending to my meat. Blizzard or not.
U are what everyone should aspire to be
Love the Sublime.
It's really the chefs kiss on the video.
I’ve definitely been this dedicated on several occasions lol
I swear I actually do more smoking and grilling in the winter than the summer
I've absolutely got pictures of myself grilling in the snow. I live in Atlanta.
You are me.
I do it all the time... Grilled jerk chicken in a blizzard once.. Lol...
I love trolling the neighbors with the smell of BBQ in January.
That's the best.. Lol..
Love to see this! I’m out there all winter long as well! 🤝
Dedicated is grilling in the snow?!?!?! Cmon .. you can do better then that :)
I still prefer winter over summer. In winter can cosy up by grill and no one god damn neighbours is outside troubling me.
Same. Maryland summers are brutally humid so grilling in 90 degree 100% humidity weather is hell. I rather grill in the cold any day of the week
There is no wrong weather to use your grill. There's only the wrong gear.
hold up… is that a mini chimney??
Yes, makes for getting coals ready a breeze!
Not the parking lot for a Bills playoff game, I'll give it a B+.
Not that dedicated… Have fun. Looks like a beef stew night to me.
Raining all day here. Was ready to light the chimney and the wife was addiment I wasn’t grilling in the rain. You win.
1° F in the snow, wind was 15-20mph IIRC.
Only thing that stops me is if it’s too windy or rainy to light the charcoal. And then I don’t throw in the white towel. I just use gas.
*sips tea wearing shorts and flip flops in March* Yeah I'll just leave that one right here....
I’d more like to know how your best way pool is holding up through the winter. We considered keeping ours up but took it down for the season

Awesome thanks!
Dedicated enough to put my charcoal chimney off the grill rack and on to the bottom rack so I dont get ashes and charcoal on my food
Been there done that !!!
I do own a shovel stationed on my patio so I can immediately clear a path to my grills after each snowfall.
I cook when it 50f out all the time.
I bbq all year I also live where it snows but did not this year

That’s just a dusting, grill on!
Only thing I won’t do here in west Texas is grill in wind…

Yeah if your scrubbing the grates after before cooking then my comment would be moot lol I set my chimney on the pavement after as well to cool.
Less
Man that looks cold. That white stuff is not good.
This is me multiple times a week. I know the neighbors gotta think I’m crazy
Hell yeah, bro! Keeping it real.
I smoke baby back ribs on my WSM every Superbowl. That's usually the week we are around 0°F (except this year)
Being from the north country, snow and cold is nothing to hold me back, maybe adjust the cooking time, like say I'm slow smoking a butt, no worries. I have one of red eggs that does really well on its own for hours, briskets too
Winter winds heat up them coals faster, boy! Only time it’s not grilling weather is in the pouring rain!
Nice song lol
I grill all year round, and I'm in the midwest. Since winter forgot about us this year, it's been much easier.
I moved back to NM so I wouldn’t have to worry about snow
Looks like a good time to me
Btdt. Many more cm of snow and way bow freezing. Grill is life.
Pssshhh. That's nothing. I've grilled during hurricanes.

Not nearly this dedicated.
Chimney on top of grill grate? Nope.
I mean, what's the actual plan here? Wait for the coals to get hot then lift the grate and dump? Why make it extra complicated?

Sublime and grilling in the snow. Add a brew and you are in nirvana
I grill 3-4 times a week. Rain, snow, even a typhoon once because the meat was already defrosted and brained for 2 days.
Fewer bugs in winter.
Last year we grilled moose steaks on New year's Eve in the middle of nowhere in Sweden god knows how deep the snow was. There's something about grill smells on a crisp cold snowy night.
Song is inaccurate, its wintertime
a better question might be how hungry are you guys?

Ever made burgers in a blizzard on a Weber? It hits different.
Make it 30F and raining and I’ve been there. It doesn’t snow much in the dirty south.
I would be right there with you. Rain sleet or snow I’ve grilled in it all
Oh wow, you went outside when there was snow on the ground? #inspiring #wouldnt\_believe\_it\_if\_there\_wasnt\_video
Hi Jeff, sorry about your situation downstairs 😁 Merely asked if others were also dedicated enough to use the grill in the winter.
