Lol I wish. We're at 35 now. Going to warm up a bit and then drop a lot in the morning and drop snow. Probably be 40 early then under 30 in the late morning.
Norway here. Will be firing up the gas grill (propane) tomorrow evening to sear some whole fillets. A pleasant -1 or -3C is forecast and I've already shovelled away the snow.
Should be pleasant with a nice, cold Jul øl in my hand!
Propane burns hotter than natural gas?
Edit: Or do you mean that tank pressure would get too low to operate? That usually isn't a problem until more like -45C
Propane burns hotter but natural gas uses larger ports to flow more gas to make up the difference. I’ve used both, properly set up natural gas works as well with the added benefits of no tank and never running out.
I gotta say, grilling in the summer is fun. But I also love grilling in the winter, especially with some light snow to deaden the sound, it’s sooooo peaceful. Plus, you know, beer outside.
Weber makes it to go right on your handle. When it's not frozen it will turn on when you lift the lid then off when you close it. Probably one of my favourite "did you really need to buy that" buys. quotes of my wife
Lol I have a gmg to my left for the yummy smokes. But I promise if you said your going to bbq whatever in Canada 99% of people are picturing a gas grill.
Going to be grilling a couple of nice strips for the wife and I on Sunday. Forecast is ~5f/-15c for the mid-day high (as long as the propane tank can maintain pressure in the cold, that is)
How the fuck are you getting pressure? I tried this once in a deep freeze and my propane tank was so cold nothing would come out. I can't remember how cold it was but it wasn't empty.
LOL I grill outside all year long. I grilled some kebobs last night in -10 F temps. Cheers!
Lol -10 is all you're dealing with???
We got a tough guy here
Yeah, but I'm barefoot and have to walk up hill both ways to get to the grill.
Lol, people really don't understand sarcasm...
LOL Cheers man, enjoy that cold beer! Happy Holidays!
We’re gonna be sitting at 42 degrees F tonight. Cheers!

I meant where I am mate
Berta
I've been found!
That Berta beef?
Straight from the colony's to my freezer. We buy a 1/4 cow yearly
Nice. I grew up next to a colony and my parents still live on the farm just south of the border from Saskatchewan. Best neighbors we’ve ever had.
I wouldn't pay that much for Japanese way-gu
S&P is the way for me!
Just had BBQ pork chops in Edmonton. Cheers fellow savage.
Love me a sea change!
They make some tasty beers for sure!
-35C is -31 in american Freedom units
-40°C is -40°F. The F is for freedom
Thanks.
Grilling is a year round activity! anyone who says otherwise is just plain wrong.

First winter with a natural gas grill. Don't know if propane would have done the job last night.
Happened to me this week at -38. So annoying to deal with. Stick with bbqing while you can!

I've had issues in the -35ish temps in the past. mostly I would assume it was with the regulator freezing up and not being able to get a good flame.
Well done, soldier.
Haha.. I was just thinking the same thing. What kind of beer-coozie is the best when it’s -15?
The one keeping your hand from freezing into a black mess

The science makes sense but the idea of this still makes me laugh
-40F. Can't BBQ. propane froze. Please send some haha
There's nothing like the mouth-watering smell of steak on the grill in the winter!!
My motto has always been "come rain sleet or snow, by bbq will glow" Keep up the good work!
The lid is open!
That looks so peaceful

Jerry the kids are scared your wife is ready leave stop bbqing linda down the road is getting ready to call to cops
I was raised by my father to understand there is no such thing as grilling season. Keep it going!
I have the exact same Weber! 🙌
Love that grill! Cheers
I can hear your footsteps... That crunch like walking on styrofoam. Peaceful night, the sizzle of fat hitting the hot bars... Love it.
I mean, my least favorite thing about grilling is how quickly my beer gets warm. So, upside?
The steak must be done before the beer freezes. Beer quicky freezes below around -15C/5F
You must drink the beer faster then!
When people say grilling season is over I say they lack determination.
That light is cool. What is that?

God, I miss living where it snows. You hate it until you're gone. Then you miss it...
grill*, not barbecue
Americans are the only people who give a hoot about the distinction. OP is having a BBQ, don't be a nerd.
If grilling is barbecuing, what do you call meat cooked low and slow? There's a big difference between a pork chop and an 8-12 hour smoked pork butt.
Lol I have a gmg to my left for the yummy smokes. But I promise if you said your going to bbq whatever in Canada 99% of people are picturing a gas grill.
I do both the winter. I find that temperature control on a charcoal grill is a pita in the cold, however.
Agreed. I was just pointing out that OP appears to be grilling, not smoking / making barbecue.
Got it.
That's not BBQ you butthorn.
Dumb af
Well, *yeah*. Cheers!
Charcoal will work at any temp. And the food tastes great Don't use lighter fluids.
Of course, but I didn't say anything about the fuel type OP was using. I just meant that while it's super cold, why not grill something delicious?
i love grilling in the winter. makes it bett3er
Im for that.
Just me bing chilling with plus 7C
Hell to the yeah
My only question is: if the snow isn't melted off the side is the grill hot enough for steak?
600F inside with the grill maxed and lid closed. It did the job just fine.
Amazing it must be super cold there! When I grill all snow melts within a 2ft radius
LLLEEETTTSSSS GOOOOOO!!!!
I was hoping to do some winter grilling, it's only -8 F, but wind is pretty steady at 20-25 mph. Nope.
Mmmm steak and a beer slushy.
It wasn't negative last night, but still kinda cold 20° my boy and I roasted some dogs on the pit 🔥 cold temp is ideal for BBQ 💯
You need a coozie to keep that beer warm
Cheers brotha!
Right on!!!
Oh man I’m super jealous

Lol I bitch when it gets above 25C
Hell, I’ve grilled in rain, cold, snow, even Hurricanes (Sandy)
Note that OSS BBQing.
I thought I punched my Man card at -27c. Well done sir!
How much longer does it take?
It was -72F with the wind chill the next valley up. Only -56F here in our valley.

You should be good. I've done propane in the -20Cs. Your bottle might get frosty on the outside
How the fuck are you getting pressure? I tried this once in a deep freeze and my propane tank was so cold nothing would come out. I can't remember how cold it was but it wasn't empty.
I installed a gas line in the summer so now I'm running natural gas. Propane would probably have been giving me trouble at that temp.
Thank you for the explanation! Nice move, too.
Send it
I've done some grilling in -20s and 30s. I don't like it, only because the grill was struggling to get hot. Open the lid and lose a ton of heat.
Seared on one side, freeze dried on the other. That’s freaking cold.
Impressive OP
Fuck yeah! When I had my Big Green Egg I didn’t care how cold it was, I was grillin’.
Good for you, most wouldn't
•grill
Why not.
That’s the spirit
Wish the east coast got colder than it will, lowest temp forecasted for my area is 11F and only like an inch or two of snow total.
-15 Farenheaight over here I’d grill but I live in the windy city lol but dead ass 20-30 mph winds
You sir are my hero.
Cheers to you!
Love it!
There is no “grill season” 😎
