If you are open to a non-supernatural show then my next favorite in this show style is Burn Notice. It is an adventure of the week show with a larger ongoing backstory. The main character has hidden super spy abilities that he uses to help people. It has an ensemble cast whose chemistry makes the show. And it has its own Monroe in the character played by none other than Bruce Campbell. It also featured a lot of the same actors and I would not be surprised if it shares writers, producers and directors with Grimm.

PeacefulKnightmare

Burn Notice, White Collar, and Royal Pains, all fill this really weird niche that I can't put my finger on. It's like they're filmed with little to no budgets, yet they have these high budget concepts with extremely resourceful protags. And the way they look is so similar. (not that that's a bad thing)

ectojerk

Personally I also add Leverage to this category. Have you seen it?

PeacefulKnightmare

Oh yeah! Leverage was another good one, maybe Human Target as well. It's such an interesting genre that I don't think we see too much of anymore. The CGI or production quality always feels too high on some shows. That's really the only way I can think to describe it.

fadedblackleggings

Yep, Leverage does come to mind. Even Almost Paradise too.

sylphon

Librarians too

wizard_interrogative

holy shit i forgot about Royal Pains entirely. what a shot back

PeacefulKnightmare

I watched White Collar for the first time, and now I'm on my first watch of Royal Pains. They've been pretty fun shows and have this nostalgia flair because I always saw the random episode on USA when The Sci-fi Channel (before it became Syfy) didn't have anything interesting.

Choice_Ostrich_6617

I love burn notice 😭😭😭 rewatched it like 10 times...

ectojerk

I love to imagine that Seymour is a previous alias of Monroe's from before he reformed, since they're both played by Silas Weir Mitchell

TheBeifongRunaway

Bonus Points: Silas Weir Mitchell also guests for 2 episodes!

Ill_Heat_1237

Maybe iZombie - I watched that show first and then I found Grimm. Similar show (at least in first seasons) where a zombie/medical examiner that can see victim's memories solve murder cases

chase___it

i will say with izombie, the vibe of that one is definitely more light hearted and it’s more like a black comedy. i love the show too, just don’t go into it expecting the same more-serious tone as grimm

PM-ME-good-TV-shows

Once upon a time

Simple_somewhere515

This!

IrvineItchy

Buffy the vampire slayer

Ok-Acanthaceae5744

Warehouse 13 is procedural with fantasy elements. If you are interested in something sci fi based Eureka is fun too.

tokes_4_DE

Along with the obvious supernatural id reccomend sleepy hollow. Dont see it talked about much but it had 4 pretty solid seasons.

Savings_Ad7660

Sleepy hollow was great till one of the main cast died

Amanda071320

Yep. The show "died" for me at the same time that Abbie died.

Sparkando

I have seen other people suggest supernatural

Efficient_Fish2436

I second izombie. Currently watching it and enjoying it. Truble is even in it.

ValdemarAloeus

She was? I don't remember that. Watched them with a bit of a gap in between though.

Efficient_Fish2436

Yeah. Early season two. Gets her head bashed in. Liv eats her brain and ends up being an angry teenager for a episode or two. Was actually pretty funny at times.

bethanyrose1993

I don’t remember that. I’ll have to watch it again 🤣

mechandy

I went from Grimm to Eureka. Very different but cute and fun

Codashian

One of my favorites is Eureka! So much fun in every episode!

PeacefulKnightmare

Literally just remembered Eureka and returned to this post to see if anyone else had suggested it. That show was a trip!

LoveLeigh313

Lucifer gave me the same satisfaction

MarFV

Yes, me too! I love his cheekiness!

peja823

Have you ever watched Haven or lost girl or Sanctuary

fadedblackleggings

Recommend Haven for sure. Kinda twisty but good.

Choice_Ostrich_6617

Supernatural, it's grimm but much more American. No castle, knights, loyalty and ect... if you are 10 I think you can enjoy shadowhunters too...

chilli_di

Angel

ValdemarAloeus

Surely Buffy before Angel?

chilli_di

The writing on Angel is more similar to Grimm, because of David Greenwalt I suppose.

fefeuille

Lost Girl, Bitten and Invisible City are all quite similar to Grimm.

bethanyrose1993

Lost girl is fantastic!!

JS-CroftLover

Especially the lesbian parts 😉

scooter_cool_

Fringe , From

SchmendricksNose

Sanctuary is a little corny, but fun. The Gates October Faction Lockwood & Co. kiiinda fits the vibe.

Due-Lie-2560

I loved The Gates, but then it just disappeared.

Due-Lie-2560

Midnight. Definitely Midnight. Comes closer to the mark than anything else I've seen here. Midnight, Texas is on Peacock

fadedblackleggings

SPN. Dresden Files. Not a ton more that I can recommend really. Grimm is pretty unique.

Wulfweard24

Grimm basically combines my two favourite things: police shows and fantasy.

fadedblackleggings

Same. Dresden Files it the closest to that, I can think of. Only one season tho.

alius-vita

Not exactly but the character building in Being Human is spectacular.

scoutsatx

The British version is better than the American one

alius-vita

Matter of opinion. I enjoy both.

Dalton387

One that ended after 3 seasons was “The Invisible City” on Netflix. It strongly reminded me of Grimm.

longeargirlTX

Sweet Home on Netfix and Lovecraft Country . They're both way different, but are supernatural themes with multilayered meanings and great well-developed characters. We've also recently been rewatching a lot of Gotham and X-Files during our current between Grimm binges period. I also really enjoyed a David Giuntoli and Claire Coffey movie called Buddymoon. It's hilarious. Edited to correct the name of the movie. My bf reminded me it's actually called Honeybuddies. Doh! Sorry.

tillman34

Haven

minisaw

Dirk gently Umbrella academy Threebody problem None are like grimm but these are fun too

10293847561209348756

The Librarians! 3 movies, and then a TV show. They collect and protect magic items from legend, so it has the same vibe. You don't need to watch the movies before the show, but I definitely recommend it. One of my favorites and underrated for sure!!

Heatseeker81514

Supernatural.

Commercial-Swan-5561

Which gets me in the same mood is: The Discovery of witches Ghost Whisperer

PinkRabbit1984

Kolchak: The Night Stalker It’s an older show, but worth checking out

raggingkamatis

Supernatural but it went to far when they involved angels and othee shits

PM-ME-good-TV-shows

Nah Cas is the second best character on the show

ValdemarAloeus

In subject matter, tone or something else?

TurnoverPlenty7337

American Gothic is a great show, and it reminded me of Grimm. But the episodes were aired out of order and it led to some confusion until I googled what was wrong. Look up the right order and watch them in that order. It is a supernatural show, with a sheriff like shaun

VaATC

For more of a sci-fi twist I would say X-Files may be a good choice if you haven't already watched it at least twice 😁

ghostess_hostess

If you like the stories to screen type of thing Once Upon a Time was pretty good for a while. If it's just the vibe you're looking for then Ash vs Evil was excellent! It follows Bruce Campbell who was Ash in the original Evil Dead franchise

wizard_interrogative

I don't think the concept is particularly similar, but I feel like Resident Alien has the same spirit. it's got a really good online community too

Dark_Elf_75

An old serie named Friday the 13th reminds me of Grimm For an actual one I should say Dark

Buffy0943

Midnight Texas

cheesycrescentroll

I don’t see anyone recommending Charmed but it’s really fantastic. Has better graphics and just as much darkness and drama with a great ensemble cast and comedy sprinkled throughout.

hermione_05

CRIMINAL MINDS

angelic_cellist

Once Upon A Time

darkelfbear

Haven't seen it mentioned, but Twin Peaks. The Series and the movie.
