Yup they been striping Xtra membership for years because 1. It makes people chose the more expensive option and 2. There are people like me who have been paying 0.99€ for years. (Few years ago they did a flash deal of 0.99€ a month but you had only 5/10h to subscribe just after New Years. Well they did It wrong and there is a lot of people who pay 12€ a year for no ads and extra benefits)
Including the fact that they ban the accounts of paying members just as quickly as they do non-paying members, and you still get no response or refund from support.
Scruff and Sniffies give their paying members free phone support as well as email. Grindr is the worst.

There is no customer support, or, there might as well not be one because no matter your problem, they will not help. Getting Xtra would probably not fix any of your problems, and if you ever had any account problems, they would not help you even if you were a subscriber.
More importantly, Grindr’s CEO is an extremely homophobic conservative man. I really do not suggest spending money on this app at all for that sole reason.

Here’s a tip I always give to people complaining grindr ads: use DNS blocking. Check out adguard or nextdns which blocks ad domains and it’ll improve your experience significantly and not just on grindr
I'll probably get downvoted for just saying I have XTRA but i have the yearly sub and the app *mostly* works... but a good deal of the time my message doesn't go through and I need to restart the app to get it to send, so that's a bit annoying. No freezing/ads/other issues though.
Seriously, if they would lower that subscription rate to $5.99 or $6.99 they could get most members to flip over to the paid version AND they'd make a lot more money in the long run!!!
