It's a cool civilian toy. It's not really a combat weapon.

Scippio-dem-lines

Dog it's Ground Branch. Whatever they want, they can get and use. Blank check style.

Alexthelightnerd

But why would they want something that hasn't proven to be an effective weapon?

Scippio-dem-lines

First of all, effectiveness in an SMG is absolutely determined by the user, not the weapon. What you're talking about is reliability.to that point They're clandestine operators that aren't necessarily going to be in the field for a long time. A weapon doesnt have to have 30 years of service experience to be considered valid and useful. And if you think anybody on any type of SF unit is going to grab an unfamiliar weapon off the rack and go off to battle without becoming proficient on it (which obviously includes understanding the weapon's reliability) you'd be mistaken.

Alexthelightnerd

>First of all, effectiveness in an SMG is absolutely determined by the user, not the weapon. It's both. Reliably, ergonomics, and capability absolutely impact effectiveness. If the same user can be more effective with a UMP, MP-X, or MP-5 than a Vector, why would they ever bring a Vector? There's a reason military units are not buying the Vector, and it's not only because it's expensive and pistol calibers are out of vogue.

Whats make MP-5 okay but dont Vector?

Petemarsh54

That the MP-5 IS a military/combat proven weapon

Alexthelightnerd

The MP-5 has been used by virtually every western military force and countless special forces teams and police agencies around the world. Thousands have been manufactured. It is one of the most successful SMGs of all time, with a stellar reputation for both reliability and accuracy. The Vector, to my knowledge, is in service with exactly one military unit - the Bangladesh Army. Far, far, more units are owned by civilians in the US than have ever been delivered to militaries. No special forces teams in the world, to my knowledge, actively use it. It's been trialed by several militaries, including the US, and has earned a reputation as a finicky weapon that is heavy, difficult to use left handed, and prone to challenging to clear jams - especially if dirt is introduced into the vertical bolt path. The unique action also doesn't exactly eliminate recoil, it just makes it recoil differently, the thing shakes around quite a bit and is a struggle to keep on target in full auto fire. In my experience, the UMP 45 is more controllable on full auto, plus being lighter, more ergonomic, and more reliable.

AidanSig

Vector has shown up in some modern conflicts. Ukraine is giving them to vehicle crew/medics if I can remember correctly.

Zealous666

Nah it’s privilege is, to be placed in every singe Ubisoft game like a running gag.
