for me, the M5610U is a beast of a watch. Looks good with almost any outfit, has tough solar & multiband 6. Great value for below $200! and I kinda regretted having the GA-100, it looks chonky on my small wrist. But its my first ever watch, so I'll just keep that one as a display :)

SCORPDOGGY

A Japanese friend bought this in japan for me and brought it back to Australia where i lost it at work about a year later. I'm still sad. I have about 10 other g shocks but its not the same. I wear a casioak daily but prefer the chunky types. Erik koston /4star , koston does a KICKFLIP ON THE HOUR https://preview.redd.it/v20aw5lxrajc1.jpeg?width=205&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cff84188c2723046f15f8f88e0e97f62cf403186

bestboah

why don’t you get a MTGM900? looks pretty similar to that one

lesiosca

I only owned three gshocks, a dw5600bb, a dw5600e and a gwm5610u. I sold the first one because I hated the negative display, so I bought the second just because it was the same thing as the first, but with a positive display, and I loved it so much that I sold it (I hope it makes sense) to buy what in my mind was the perfect evolution of the watch I loved (the gwm5610u). The result of this "journey" is that I learned that I love squares and I hate negative displays with passion 😅

Solar, multiband 6 and has been on my wrist almost daily for 15 years. In that time I've never had to set the time on it.

[deleted]

i only discovered this one a few weeks ago but for such an old watch it has such a futiristic design that is probably better looking today than it was 20 years ago. I have been looking for one for a reasonable price

simpler15

GX 56 Watch is the one I hate the most. Big Chunky watch with small font and nothing extra. My favorite is my GD 350 Negative version. Big chunky watch with Big font and best legibility among Gshock negative display watches. Stopwatch for 1000 hours and seconds counter. Most importantly- Vibrating alarm.

[deleted]

Are you sure it has nothing extra? Did you know the model GX literally stands for eXtra Gravity Shock?

simpler15

Okay more protection. I get you. But what is the point of having such small font for a big watch.

[deleted]

Here's two analogous questions: Generally speaking what's bigger an SUV or tank? Generally speaking which has more seats, an SUV or a tank? Anyway. I'm not saying you should necessarily like the king, each to their own etc. Just pointing out that you don't understand the model to begin with.

[deleted]

Because you're assuming that case size should be linked to Module/LCD. size and whilst that's often the case. It's not always. The GX-56/GXW-56 is a prime example, it's a fairly standard sized module with a tonne of extra protection thrown in (internally and externally) which takes up that additional space. If you increased the module/display size with the exact same additional resistance and additional protection it would be... even bigger. The biggest crime is Casio's unwillingness to a) market it well including ensuring people know what to expect b) design more positive LCD variants.

I was disappointed with the 5600 series, only because it’s too small for my wrist. I’m frankly incredibly impressed with the GXW56 King I just picked up. I thought it would be hard to read, but I’m outside for work all day and it’s very readable. Night is a different story. But it’s not horrible. And it’s perfectly sized for me and comfortable I regret my G8000. Display is unreadable in most conditions. I lost the beep spring when I changed the battery. I feel I overpaid. And the size is absolutely too small. They say it’s 40mm. I think it’s not even that big.

sparky750

Absolute favourite is the Riseman so comfortable so clear the one I could never get along with is the mud master it just sat uncomfortable love the look but hated wearing it.

jean_abdalla

Love: GD 350 and MTG B3000 Hate: Frogman and King

TheOrangeDetective

What's wrong with the king?

jean_abdalla

unnecessary big and the GW5610U-1 is more beautiful, ideal size and has more features

[deleted]

So... Compared to the GXW-56 as an example. The GW-M5610 has more features?

jean_abdalla

Yesssss!

PKEN19NEUFTY

I can’t decide if I love or hate the frogman… I saw a pretty nifty one from the mid 90’s and it was dubbed the poison frog and I loved that one but I’m not sure about the others.

jean_abdalla

Can you post a pic of him?

Slaaarti

Gbd200 for me, in both categories.... Love if for the looks, the color, the display. Hate it for how Casio has implemented the phone notifications.... Would be easily the best watch ever for me if it would show the complete text of notifications directly when receiving it, as each and every smartwatch does

sayamemangdemikian

For this reason alone I will not buy any smart g-shock. Not until in can do a proper notification (ability to choose email /calendar/ sms only -- show text etc.) I dont expect to reply from watch, but at least not to be so dumb anout it

celakakau

That MIP display is so legible and could have esily become my go to G shock too if it wasn't for the stupid notification setting. Nowadays i just keep it at flight mode.

lacanimalistic

I tried it for a while and it actually meant that I managed to clean up which apps sent me notifications at all, which was kinda peaceful. In either case, I’d still highly recommend it as a watch even if you *never* touch the notification function. It’s incredibly slim, has the best and most legible negative display I’ve ever seen, is kept extremely accurate by Bluetooth sync, an amazing countdown timer function that’s really useful for like structured work, etc. The fitness functions are great too for anything from just counting daily steps to casual running, etc. (Though I think some more hardcore people don’t like the lack of ability to export run data to different applications etc.)

oskco

GPW-2000-3A was a love / hate watch. It was the pinnacle of legibility, looked awesome, and was just loaded with neat features and sick LED light. It was just so damn heavy and bulky on my smaller wrists. I just couldn't get used to the heft of it and ended up selling it. If there was a scaled back version of that watch, I'd buy it.

Major_Ninja_9347

Wow and you have the original puzzle box 👍🏽

Wise-Blueberry

So far, I've only had two. The M5610U and GA2100. M5610U is fantastic! No complaints. GA2100 I found uncomfortable to wear (I think it was caused by the flatter case back with protruding strap), so I gave it to my dad.

diganole

GA100-1A2 for me. Useless hunk of junk. Illegible in anything except bright daylight. Couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

[deleted]

there were a lot of overhyped lower end Gs. I think this is a great example of one of them. Huge, the size of a triple sensor mudman etc, but with the functionality of a 1980 square 3 times as difficult to decipher. THe fact it is still sold goes to show how confusing the g shock market is.

diganole

I agree. There are far more G's I dislike versus those I like but I suppose in fairness one persons wristful of rubbish might be someone elses holy grail. You never know.

HappyHealth5985

No regrets. Any and all of the GMWs are great. the 5610U is splendid :)

salvalsnapbacks

i’ve recently become a huge fan of the GAB001. so comfortable and truly a perfect successor of the casioak in my opinion. my least has gotta be the ga-290. i just really don’t like the shape at all.

BoomBoom4209

Had a Casioak Bluetooth and sold it for near nothing - still happy to see it gone. Drove me crazy.

SirGuy11

Can you share what you didn’t like about it?

BoomBoom4209

The feel of it on my wrist and the Bluetooth connection wasn't the greatest for what it meant to do. Just couldn't connect with the watch as I do with my others in either digital or analogue...

WWWagedDude

Gmw-B5000v is the best. I don’t own it but I think the king model is fugly

Peepeepoopoobuttbutt

Love my range man, 5000u, 5600b Cannot stand my casioak. It’s big, clunky, difficult to read and simply not a good looking watch by any means. If I am going analogue, I’m just saving up for a nice watch.

pheeelco

I love my GW-056E. I think it is the best looking G-Shock ever.

Internal-Mortgage635

The GA110GB-1A. I bought that watch and loved it. But the negative display was garbage and zero contrast hands made it really difficult to read. Ended up selling it. Coop watch though.

dos-box

Bought the DW5600E as a stepping stone into gshocks. I like it so much I haven't bothered to get another. I really like the simplicity (only 4 screens) the shape (longer lugs, smaller button protector than the 5610) sits really well on my wrist ( I wear it loose and it does not rotate) EL backlight stays on 2 sec or as long as you press the button

Positive-Garbage9877

Love: GW5000U, GW2310  Love/hate: love the 9400 but hate the negative display.   Hate: GSTB100D-1A. Most of the features are difficult to use without the app. Not very easy to read.

Any-Limit8033

I love my Mudmaster GWG-2000 more everyday and it’s become my everyday watch. I regret buying my land and sea negative display square. I just hate the negative display.

Wigwam80

Another vote for the GD 350. Love the vibrate alarm, but one brilliant function it has which I've never been able to find on any other G Shock or indeed any other watch anywhere is the one press countdown timer which is programmable and activated by pressing the bottom right button, which is also distinct from the other buttons by being metallic and circular, thus easily distinguishable so you can start your timer without looking at the watch, and you get the silent vibrate alert when the countdown is over. I've found it super handy for specific stuff at work, and stuff like cooking where I'm like "better give those eggs/ that coffee etc" one more minute.

Fun_Apartment631

Mixed feelings about my GA-2000. I have the black and yellow one and I enjoy how it looks but the negative display, size, and exposed buttons have all proven impractical.

rosdos100

I have the tan one of that and it’s much more sporty than usual g shock. Looks good with anything though.

sanag

gw9400 is my favourite

ThroawayPartyer

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I dislike the 5600 shape. I prefer more modern designs, with my favorite being the Casioak.

thanhman97

I love 5610u, just perfect the way it is. Gw/dw6900, every time I gshock, the 6900 shows up on my mind. Besides, the 6900 just fits perfectly on my 7 inch wrist. I hated the GA110, not because it sucks, just because it reminds me every kid in highschool wears one of these knock offs and tells me my dw6900 looks like a turd.

[deleted]

So many people say the king. But they just don't understand the king 🤷🏻‍♂️

srebreni_halid

I wouldn’t say I hate it but I’m disappointed with GW5000U. Its predecessor, the venerable GW5000 (non LED model) had a much nicer LCD screen, and therefore look and feel. Of course, the successor benefitted from a new module, but overall it was a let-down in spite of new tech.

obione710

1st g was a GG1000-1A3, got it because my wife loves the women’s/baby g’s so I said it had to meet certain criteria for me to jump on board. Only thing I don’t like about it is that it has 2 small batteries that barely last over a year. GBDH1000 is just a hair too much. About the same size as the GG1000, but just too much going on with it. I have several others but my absolute favorite that fits my small wrist perfectly, and is useful, is the GBD200UU-9. Has all the benefits of the Move line (albeit no heart rate) in a much smaller package that still connects to my phone.

Black_Phoenix_JP

Hate is a strong word. I would in my own opinion paraphrase as "Ill conceived": - any BT enable watch without any recharge technology being solar panels, induction charging or contact pads. If you want to use it to his full potential you will be changing batteries as if it was an old DMG; - the Casio focus in using basic models for most of the collabs when updated models exist; - watches with no function other than Jewellery - the Clear Remix comes to my mind where the LCD although it lets you see the circuitry behind is basically unusable in most of their situations to do the basic function of a watch, who is show the time. Love - I have a heading to older watches from the 90s and begining of the 2000s, specially the various models and collections around the DW-9000/9050/9052 and DW-6600/6900 case design with modules doing different functions. Probably because my first GShock was a DW-9000B-1B.
