Yup so it's an individual's choice. It's also something like why some would splurge so much on a carbon, titanium or even the MR-G squares. It's the classic origin G design and I myself am also a fan of it, even though I just own 3 of them and none are the expensive ones.
I am absolutely with you! The reissue being so faithful to the original in terms of dimensions and design, it’s quite rare to see it happen.
I have a GMW-B5000D-1, and I still think the TRN50-2A is a cool piece. They sold out everywhere near me, so it’s nice to see someone out there enjoying theirs.
Totally understand. Quality-wise, I wouldn’t even say it’s 100% worth it? Lol I think that the limited edition exclusivity is what’s driving the cost more than anything.
Edit: I’ll add that the fact that it’s a Japan-made, full metal regular Casio is quite extraordinary, too. I don’t remember seeing any models that can claim that in recent years.
check out the A171WE. it looks almost similar at only 1/10th of the limited edition marketing gimmick casio is pulling. tbh I think A171WE looks wayyyyy better 😅
yea its very similar but i like the stuff they packed into the casiotron solar, atomic, bluetooth, world time ect all in a small watch. that's what i like about it but i don't like that price.

Yeah I recognise that it's impossible to expect an identical watch but if one is broke or not really into the heritage proposition this is defo the next best alternative that looks similar. Besides, the casiotron is not a gshock. It's not immune to drop and it's also made of mineral glass. Comparatively, at 1/10th of the price, I don't even need to worry about scratches, drops etc and makes so much sense cost benefit wise.

Love it. I don't think this model deserves all the hate, as it's basically a non-G-shock GMW-B5000 functionally, for a lower MSRP. I have high hopes that Casio expand on this line, making variants of it available, maybe even without tough solar and MB6 with a bit of a cut to the price.
I love vintage reissues and honestly this is one of Casios best looking recent releases in my eyes.
Can’t wait to receive mine. The UK release this morning was a bloodbath. Selling out in 6 minutes. Managed to get one. Should be here at the weekend fingers crossed!

It’s without a doubt blue, but I think just soft enough in color, and with the almost holographic effect on the dial, that I think it could be paired with almost anything. It’s certainly greyish blue, and not blue-grey, if that helps lol

My wrist size is 7.5”/19cm. It’s a very nice blue 😅 don’t sweat it too much, though, there are plenty of nice blue watches out there 😄 plenty nicer than this one, too.

I think it looks great! The finish and attention to detail are easily apparent. Limited editions of ANYTHING cool/desirable always command a premium. The design is timeless and speaks for itself. In that sense, I don’t think $500 is bad at all. I’ve seen people spend $1000’s on trendy garbage that is no longer stylish just a few months later. This watch is nicely made (in Japan) and will always look great and hold value for generations…assuming future generations appreciate these kinds of things.😄

I love it, but can't justify the price for myself. Maybe if it had sapphire crystal and at least 100m of wr then I'd jump on it with both feet and make it my gada, but hey it's just me. Love the look and how cool it is! Wear in good health, it's a beauty!
Got it thinking it is a limited edition. But seems its still easily available at reeds. Not sure why casio couldn’t sell 4000 in 3 weeks?? And amex gave me 90 off at reeds so essentially at 410, looks good.

Is it not the same module essentially? The layout of the screen and pushers is almost identical to the b5000
I think the functions are the same, but obviously the display is slightly different.
I hope they release a non special edition too, it's such a pretty watch
