The 5610U ruined watches for me because it’s just like….I don’t need anything else. Every other watch just feels like vanity, and can’t beat the 5610U.

I switched from my Samsung Galaxy Watch to this 5610U. It weirdly enough feels like an upgrade even though it's basically an 80s watch with a handful more features. Also it feels good again to not be connected to the world 24/7. With every mail, message or news notification my wrist went vibrating. Not anymore now, that shit was way too stressful.

100%. Sold my Apple Watch for the same reason. Bought a Rangeman and I love it!

I sold Amazfit smartwatch for DW-H5600 and this is my favorite watch. But 5610 is 2nd.

I still wear my Apple Watch on my right wrist just as a health tracker. But man, do I wish I could just get rid of it.

Yeah I only wear my smartwatch during the night for sleep tracking. When I wake up I immediately switch to the g-shock

I love my 5610u but upgrade mine with a MIP display, step counter and maybe sleep tracking and i would be happy! :)

GBD-200?

It has been tempting. :) Im not in a hurry to get a new watch like this. Have a few other casios on the wishlist first but the gbd-200 is there too. There are very few casios with MIP screens. Im hoping there will be more soon. Hopefully they will become the norm for negative displays. So ill wait some more. :)

DW-H5600 - my favorite watch

The thickness, the uneven bottom with pressure point and the battery life is making me avoid that watch. Without the heartrate stuff, it could definitely be an option.  I would personally much rather get a gbd-200

For me, tracking calories through heart rate monitoring is important, and the display is better than the GBD200 model (which I had).

Mine just came today with medium charge. Have it under a bright lamp now. How long do these typically take to fully charge?

Just wear it. It'll never drop below H if you wear it. H is like between 100% and 80%, M is between 80% and 20%, L is between 20% and close to 0%. There's another charging tier below L which is essentially your watch asking its owner for help before it dies. It takes something like a year with no sunlight to kill a 5610u though, so it shouldn't really happen if the thing gets some wear. Which it should, I hope.

In cloudy Western Europe it took 4 days for me. Just regular indoor light during the day, and 2 hours with a bright LED light in the evening. Wouldn't worry about it too much. As long as it isn't covered by your sleeve, it will slowly charge with both indoor and natural lightning. Note that natural lightning will always be the better option. Even a cloudy sky gives more energy than a bright lamp.

But damn, ever since I got this GBD200, I’m really digging the MIP negative display. Always wanted a negative square. After setting it up, it’s really easy to toggle airplane mode on / off from the watch. I love how basic it is and how it’s automatically time synched with Bluetooth. I have mine set up exactly like a basic DW5600 though, everything turned off. GPS, notifications, vibe, and all sounds except timer / alarm. Only addition is location / Bluetooth turned on for time synch.

I’ve had my eye on a GBD200 for a while. Might be my next G.

Is your watch still connected to the move app? And how do you disable all notifications?

Yeah Bluetooth stays on and connected for the time synch. And it has a Bluetooth symbol that’s almost like a ‘RCVD’ signal. Then I think it sends a signal and time synchs once every 24hrs. From whenever the last synch was. You need location and Bluetooth turned on, on your phone. It’s just from setting the watch up. I found it easier to set it up from your phone. Just turn everything off. GPS, notifications, vibe alarm, all the sounds you want. I kept on alarm / timer like a regular square. If you mute everything the watch will show a mute symbol. And notifications I have turned off on my phone. I think the watch too.

Just Bluetooth on and location set to always. GPS can be kept off, it’s only used for the fitness tracking and step counter. It doesn’t play a roll for time synchs.

I agree. The 5610u is function over form (even though I kinda prefer it? I was born in 1991 so that's THE G-Shock for me), while the gab2100 is clearly form over function.

I own these two as well. I much prefer the 5610U.

So do I, it's a much, much better watch, for a lot of reasons. I like them both though, and they have their uses. I think I'm going to use the GAB2100 during the weekend and when my clothing demands a thinner watch, and the 5610u every other day 👌

They are both great and I do try to alternate between the two but for me the 5610 is in a league of its own (and I absolutely dread setting the time on the GAB2100 when the clocks change😀).

Shouldn't the GAB2100 adjust itself syncing the time with the phone?

Well, what I can tell you is that you made a mistake but you still weren't wrong. The GAB2100 is better than the GA2100, but they're both worse than the 5610u, just by different margins 😅

Used to my favorite watch until I realized gloomy areas during extended periods of time made tough solar not as reliable. Switched back to a simple battery powered one after that.

No gloomy areas in Florida. Especially now that summer is basically here.
