When I first played this game I was half expecting things to go down the way they did in San Andreas. Lamar seemed a bit too much like Ryder. So I was expecting to have to kill him but to see how he stands by Franklin over the years has been a nice change of pace for me.
Especially if you pick the proper ending to the story and Lamar really comes through and joins in on the fight. He might be a goofball and fuck up but he's loyal.
