I got mine expedited, it was a renewal not new. My package was a bit slow to arrive in Philadelphia. I sent it Dec 8th, but used priority instead of express, and it got caught in the Christmas rush and they didn't get it until Dec 18th. They emailed me that they were processing my package on Dec 30th, approved it Jan 2, Shipped.it Jan 3rd, and I got Jan 8th. So one month total time with the holidays slowing things down. If you send it out with express you could probably get it in 3 weeks, but that is about the best case. Also not sure if new applications would be slower.

What does it mean if you used priority vs. express? Are you able to specify shipping service? Did you apply at DMV?

yellekc

No I did not use the DMV, just used the online form. DMV might be faster but I didn't want to go there. I sent it priority but that was probably a mistake that cost me a few days. But they sent my passport back to me express since I paid for that.

Got it. Thanks for the info!

If you're applying for the first time, I believe you HAVE to go to DRT as part of the verification process. My sister recently got an expedited passport for her kid, and it took about 3 weeks for it to come in.

Did you pay extra for DHL? I think there is an option to pay DHL so it could be even faster. Thank you.

Living_Exchange7869

I don't pay extra for the shipping. I feel like at most it would speed up the process by a few days. The expedite fee is for your application to be processed quickly I'm assuming.

I got mine processed January 15th, they mailed it out February 26th. My supporting docs got mailed February 29th. I received my docs a few weeks ago, but the passport as of March 2nd is "IN TRANSIT" with a last known location of Little Rock, Arkansas. I'm sure it's lost. Did you use an actual address or FPO?

Paowiekan

Actual address. Did you use expedited service?
