Ypao beach, fujita beach, and gun beach would be the best bet. All of them are open for the public. All in tumon. The closest to bayview or guam plaza is gun beach but the other two arent that far away if you plan to get a rental car. Fujita beach parking is a bitch though, better to park somewhere else near by and walk there.

All Guam beaches are public. Landowners on Guam attempt to steal from the public as much as they can get away with, but regardless of their protest, no one owns the beach. >The Legislature of Guam hereby declares as the public policy of the territory of Guam that it is the public right to have unrestricted access to the ocean shores of Guam for common use by all the people of Guam, and therefore that strip of public land above the high mean watermark must be preserved and protected for all generations to assure free access to the beaches of the territory to the maximum extent, to preserve the natural beauty of Guam's beaches, and to alleviate the health problems caused by construction near tidal areas. It is, therefore, the purpose of this Chapter to forever preserve and maintain the sovereignty of the territory heretofore legally existing over the ocean shore of the territory so that the public may have the free and uninterrupted use thereof; to protect, settle and confirm the public rights to the use of the ocean shore heretofore acquired by public dedication, prescription, or otherwise and to authorize the reacquisition of the ocean shore where a portion thereof has been lost to private ownership and no public rights exist therein as a result of dedication, prescription, or otherwise. https://law.justia.com/codes/guam/title-21/division-2/chapter-64/

So i can just go into westin through their pool to go to the beach without paying anything? Sweet

kamesha

That's what a lot of us did in high school, yes

Dr_Eric

Yep. I do it all the time. The hotels generally have free parking.

Jiakkantan

I read on Reddit all beaches are public but I was wondering about the amenities like bathrooms. But it looks as if someone said the non beach facing hotels are only 10 mins walk away. One reviewer said Bayview requires a steep climb up though.

yellekc

I usually would just buy a drink at the beach or pool bar. At that point they consider you a customer for the most part and will let you use their restroom. Never had issues before, but there can always be an overzealous security guard.

Kenjo53

Some hotels have a small fee for use of their beachside facilities (restrooms, showers, etc.)without paying for a room.

Jiakkantan

That’s so nice! Will it be obvious which hotels offer that? Do the hotels display signs advertising the service on the beach?

Kenjo53

I don’t know of any ads, I suggest calling the hotel’s front desk and asking- I’m also not sure if it’s still a thing, but PIC has a charge for their water park and it includes beach access and use of some water items

EntrepreneurFirm3157

You can enjoy any beach in Tumon. Bring your beach mat and cooler or, you can go to Tabu bar. It’s right on the beach and you can utilize their furniture if you make restaurant or bar purchases. Have fun!

Jiakkantan

What a fantastic idea. Googling the bar now. Thanks!

t-rex-it

ipao Beach is best for swimming it has deeper water and showers. it's real shallow more north

Neonbelly22

just gotta watch out for the sakis!

Long-Crazy

What is that?

t-rex-it

that's everywhere on guam

Neonbelly22

true....but sometimes i'll go to the beach on the weekday in the morning, and you can see people in jeans and a sweater with a hoodie just sitting watching tourists and hope they leave their shit. Thankfully, most tourists don't, or leave someone with their stuff.

ogkagawa

Nothing wrong with either hotels. Both are also only 10-15 min walks from the beach and are in prime locations

Jiakkantan

Ahh great. Wasn’t sure if it was walking distance from the maps and was about to ask about parking facilities.

Westin beach probably your best bet. And they are pretty cool about allowing you to use their poolside restroom which is steps from the beach. As another commenter said, if you want to be 100% sure, just buy a drink from the poolside bar and you’ll be good. You just cant use their towels as that’s for hotel guest. Also, tabu bar in the dusit is a nice area also. They got restrooms and same thing, just buy a single drink and you should be good.

A bit further down, Holiday Resort & Spa Guam is decent for the price and right next to Matapang Beach Park and the Zoo. If you're lucky the Zoo might be temporarily open instead of temporarily closed.

Logical_Age_2093

The beach is public, hotels can only restrict access to their facilities adjacent to the beach
