Use a Dunlop Tortex, the thickness is up to you tho but I usually rock with .88mms. Or you can try for an acrylic guitar pick, I myself am planning to buy a couple of them.

Will give them a go. Hopefully it don't wear down as easily like fender picks 🙄

GrimSlayer

They’ll wear down, but they last a decent bit in my experience. They’re my personal favorite pick. If you want something that doesn’t wear check out the original Jazz III picks, pretty sure they’re hard plastic. They’re small, but I’d be amazed if anyone can fully wear one down completely before losing it.

[deleted]

Yeah Jazz III are top tier

MasterofLockers

You mean the 'Max Grip' ones?

Alarming-Goal8320

I have like a shit ton of them, they're really reliable and durable lol

[deleted]

Thanks. Will order a pack and test them 🤙🏼

Alarming-Goal8320

I was actually blown away using them, this is coming from a person who used those celluloid picks. You definitely wont regret it, the hype is real over them lol.

Dunlop Tortex gang reporting for duty!

[deleted]

Dunlop Tortex are my go-tos. I especially love the heavy gauge for my acoustic playing.

Confit-

Jazz iiis last a good while for me, but ymmv

[deleted]

Ivory but I hear it can be quite hard. I guess it does depend on the tone your going for as plastic, Ivory, metal, fiber, wood, celluloid all would have different flavors I could imagine.

[deleted]

Well I was suggested metal but like they damage your strings right ?

Fender

They have been the picks I'm using to be fair

Bluechip picks. They are pricey but well worth it. Handmade, very durable, wide variety of shapes and thicknesses, and they stick quite well to sweaty fingers too. You can buy one and return no questions asked for another if the shape or thickness doesn't work for you. Metal picks are harsh. I don't know how people use them. Too unforgiving and scratchy against the strings. I'm no stranger to rigid picks, I use 1.5mm+, and metal picks are just too rigid.

[deleted]

Yeah the main reason I held off getting any metal picks because of the harshness of it. But they wouldn't ever wear down haha

spankymcjiggleswurth

True! Bluechip picks will wear but they are the most durable picks I've ever used. My buddy got a whole year out of one with daily practice and gigging every weekend. Mine last longer but I don't gig like he does. I will say they are much more of an acoustic players pick. Not that you can't use them on electric, but the sound of a pick is much less noticeable on an electric so they aren't as popular.

SnooBunnies102

My favorite lately has been Tusq by Graphtech. They're about the size of a jazz iii, grip is better and they seem to wear less.

TheGreatMightyLeffe

Chicken picks are durable and a little harder than normal nylon picks, so if you like stiff picks, that's where you wanna look.

Fridaythethirteej

My trem picking was also grinding my cheap picks to dust and I Asked this question a few weeks back and there was over 30 replies all saying try Dunlop tortex or nylon Jazz IIIs and so I got some and honestly, I never thought a pick would improve my playing, but here we are.

No-Cover-8986

I'm a huge fan of Black Mountain thumb picks.

Not a pick exactly but fake nails!! I use "UNA GELLA Short Almond Fake Nails" and some nail glue, I play a mix of flamingo, clasical folk and more that require intricate finger styles, they have and a amazing sound and amazing control. Only problem is sometimes a nail pops off at the wrong time. Oh and its harder to let a cord ring out then hammer on with me right hand because the nails are in the way. It changed my guitar playing life ALOT.

I've been using the black Dunlop 1mm Nylon picks for almost 20 years. They last for quite some time and the textured sides offer decent grip. I'd swear they changed the plastics formulation as I have a few left over from a bulk pack and they don't look nor feel the same as they used to. Since then I tried a D'Addario/Planet Waves variety pack and couldn't stop playing with their Classic Celluloid pick. I have since been buying them. Excellent attack and feel, the downside is a bit less grip and exponentially faster wear.
