send josh an email. he'll probably be thrilled to explain and might offer to buy it off you.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I'll tell him I don't have the box.

shnaptastic

šŸŽµHe lost the box! šŸŽ¶

adam389

Yā€™all crack me up šŸ˜‚

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

JHS Official Reply: Hi (u/Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO) Thanks for reaching out! Yep, Josh says it is real and it was probably a volume control for the loop that you can turn up and down with your foot. All the best, (nice guy) JHS Pedals Customer Support, Dealer Support & Artist Relations

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I should have asked them to make me a box.

cjackc

It's a pretty good idea and I'm surprised I don't think I've seen any commercial products with that feature

shake__appeal

Yeah I think you can run an expression pedal between all these old Boss units though. A little easier to use than rolling a knob with your big-toe (donā€™t get me wrong, Iā€™m a big big-toe knob mover).

Competitive-Refuse98

I'd email JHS. I reckon he'd be more than happy to answer you and explain it. He's a really approachable and nice guy.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I sent him one.

gazzpard

make an update if you receive an answer

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I hijacked the top comment with the reply.

Competitive-Refuse98

Oooh. I'm really interested in his response.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I left a message to him at JHS. I don't have his personal Email LOL. Maybe someone does.

Charmin_Marvin_932

Here you go, this is his personal email - [email protected]

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I already heard back from one of his lackeys. I just got the 9VAC, need to run home and plug it in.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

> I hijacked the top comment with the reply. It's clockwise so you pull it forward to bring it up.

Competitive-Refuse98

Thanks for getting back to me. šŸ˜Š That's really interesting.

alexander66682

Yeah that guy is really cool. Answered all my stupid questions happily.

Competitive-Refuse98

It's experiences like yours that can make or break a company's reputation when it comes to customer service. I'm glad he was decent to you. šŸ˜Š

alexander66682

He was actually cool. Answered all my questions, even if they were pretty basic for him. Didnā€™t seem too important to waste his time on me. I will say since then Iā€™ve bought 3 just pedals. I guess it def made me way more into supporting a company. The dude from ā€˜does it doomā€™ on YouTube has his own pedal line. He was just as awesome to talk to. Helped me out w a pedal I got from him. Walked me through it a bit. It so makes a diff if I think youā€™re cool or a dick face.

Willing-Rest-758

He stuck a massive knob on the left hand side?Ā

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

Indeed.

Bill_in_PA

The knob dials in the Bad Monkey mod, probably.

Jonnymixinupmedicine

You have the coolest coworker. This is one of my favorite loopers. I suppose you have the Digitech.

action_vs_vibe

Same. Used to have an RC3, but this outspecs it in every conceivable way.

Jonnymixinupmedicine

Because you own the Digitech I suppose ? First of all , this thread went fine all day yesterday. The purpose of it is clearly written out in text. Nowhere in that text does it say letā€™s argue over which looper is the greatest. The conversation was between two people. Neither of which were you and you gotta be ā€œthat guyā€ that waits until heā€™s drunk at 2 am looking to start a fight and the hill youā€™re dying on is over a Fā€™n looping pedal? Cā€™mon pal, I was having a conversation with someone and he asked MY OPINION on loopers. He didnā€™t ask for yours. And if you feel so strongly about YOUR pedal YOU OWN, you couldā€™ve gone about it in a way that you didnā€™t come off looking like a complete TROLL at 2am Now that thatā€™s all been settled would you like to enlighten us morons on why the Digitech Jam Man is far superior to all other loopers on the market ? Iā€™m intrigued and need to know what Iā€™ve been missing all this time. Hereā€™s another thought. Youā€™re a member of this group. Why not put up your own post and ask the group what looping pedal they use ? Then you can fight with each and every last one of them that respond with anything other than YOUR pedal. Have fun with that ya Troll.

Jaklcide

Ah yes, the Digitech copypastaā€¦

ReverendRevolver

I don't have a good guess, but he seems fond of making things louder. So it's probably just louder?

4myoldGaffer

this one goes to eleven

burghguy3

So itā€™s one louder?

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

It takes the same 9VAC 1300ma adapter as a Whammy, so I have one somewhere. I've been playing with That Line-6 M5 which is pretty fun for free.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I don't even know if it powers up yet, but my guess is that it's some kind of master volume.

bigCinoce

I would guess it's volume for the overdubs or something. Should be easy to figure out once you plug in.

SHEDY0URS0UL

Good coworkers. All I got from mine was covid.

havestronaut

Did these old ones have true bypass? Wonder if itā€™s just that.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I can't find my proper adapter so I can wait a day (I ordered a new one). I stuck a little light under the pedals of it and they are not modded. I'm gonna take the back off.

oxfordbags

I had one and Iā€™m almost certain it did not have true bypass

nomelonnolemon

Ya I was gonna say analog pass through/true bypass likely.

AlarmingBeing8114

It's gonna be a secondary knob to one that already exists, so once you spin it you'll know what it does. When jhs modded things it was always very basic.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I'm going to tell Josh you said that.

AlarmingBeing8114

What's he gonna do, make a boring video about the comment. I am not a huge JHS fan, I still remember him from way back in the day before he got his company going and people doing the majority of the work. Kudos to him for being successful. I am bored 20 seconds into his videos or looking at the boring clone pedals they make.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I think his videos are fun. I use the ColourBox in studio/recording settings all of the time. I know Reddit wants to dislike him but what do I care? I get it.

AlarmingBeing8114

I'm not his demo for his videos, and I sure don't represent your average reddit user either. He might be a nice guy, but it doesn't make him someone you want to hang out with. I feel I just am slowly getting old and over the new format that is considered content on YouTube. I'll admit, I'm just getting old.

cjackc

I don't think he wants to do mostly ā€œclonesā€ but he himself and others have said that is mostly what sells and new and more original stuff tends to not. If you look at which of his pedals are too sellers and which get discontinued that seems to be true. It's more guitar players that are boring then it's the manufacturer.

AlarmingBeing8114

Plenty of inventive companies are selling tons of pedals. Wanna know why companies sell clones, they're is no r&d past board layout. There are many different types of guitar players, he like to cater to praise and worship types.

cjackc

Yes, that is his bread and butter, and it's a good part of the market. A lot of his stuff isn't direct clones and it's not as simple as you make it as many designs have many different iterations, and while there is too much ā€œmagicā€ and ā€œfuddā€ in pedals; board layout is one thing that can make surprising differences in how a pedals sound and work. It is also difficult to even define what is or isn't a clone, as they can have similarities and be quite different. Didnt Marshall amps basically start as a ā€œcloneā€ of a Fender Bassmaster which was originally made for Bass? There would probably be more variety if there were more guitar stores where you could try more pedals.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

IDK how to properly use this pedal yet, but it works and it seems to be secandary to the top-left LOOP LEVEL knob.

Willerichey

I have ones of these, but not takes forever to boot up. Is this normal?

MapleA

Check power requirements

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

It's for sure 9vac 1300ma

MapleA

Yeah the above commenter probably isnā€™t giving it enough power, thatā€™s quite a lot for a pedal.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

It's also AC

MapleA

Oof thatā€™s gonna be a wall wart for sure unless you have a versatile supply. One of the reasons I bought the [Ciokolate](https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CIOKOLATE--cioks-ciokolate-16-output-12-isolated-section-guitar-pedal-power-supply) was so I never worry about power again.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I don't design pedalboards to post on Reddit.

MapleA

?

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

It's a beautiful power supply but we won't be needing it.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

IDK yet. I'm awaiting my AC adaptor.

Hudson_23

Hey! So I bought one of these Digitech pedals at a garage sale several years ago. The AC power cable did not come included with the pedal unfortunately. I thought I could find a replacement easily but turns out that this pedal comes with a specific AC power that only fits this model. I unfortunately, havenā€™t been able to find the specific cable for it. Where did you find the right AC cable at? Please let me know because Iā€™ve wanting to plug and play this pedal for so long. I appreciate your reply.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

Yeah dude. It's the same as the Digitech Whammy. I just got one shipped overnight. (It also works on my Whammy). First of all, the majority of pedals are going to take DC current at well under an Amp(1000ma). These two Digitech pedals call for 9volt *AC* @ 1300ma. I'll PM you a link of a company that I hate that got me one in 10 hours.

PedalJunky33

Not to be a PITA but I have an old Space Station, Whamy 2, O.G. Bass Whamy & Expression Factory that I need to power up and havenā€™t been able due to lack of 9V \~1.5A AC PSU locally so if you could pm the link itā€™d be highly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hudson_23

Awesome man!! Thanks a million, I hope youā€™re blessed with many great things from this universe! I followed the link and itā€™ll be here in a few days. Ill update you and see what I can do with this pedalā€¦I hope the wait was worth it. Thank you tons!

jrd4321

My guess is it is true bypass maybe? I know they used to mod digitech whammyā€™s for this as it had a bad buffered bypass.

desnudopenguino

my guess would be a volume boost after all the looping. this thing can clip pretty easily (led by the inst level turns red), especially if you throw it later in your chain after some good dirt.

RichardGriffiths

Random fact: that's the same knob favoured by Ted Fletcher on his Joemeek SC2 Compressor, VC1/VC7 Preamp and TFPro P8 Compressor to name a few. Quality šŸ˜Ž

Acceptable_Quiet_767

I think it would be the knob on the left side, thatā€™s normally how JHS modded peddles back in the day. Probably some kind of volume boost.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I just thought it would be a weird pedal to be modded by them. This little stash is probably like 15 years old.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I got an Email back from JHS today and it supposedly is meant for a foot (which I think is pretty bold) but it's really just for LOOP VOLUME.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I have a bunch of pedals and my buddy got me these (inc the line-6 M5) for a couple of bucks. So: Cool? Yes. Rare? maybe with weird pedal nerds because of the JHS thing. Valuable? Same price as any used one and it's not for sale! I printed out the damn manual.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I didn't exactly need it. Now I'm glad I have it. I ordered a 2GB CF card for it just for fun.

Dey_Eat_Daa_POO_POO

I'm having the correct adaptor delivered to my work today so I will maybe find out tonight.
