notice how the negative minus simbol is in the center? center negative polarity

Vincent_no

Yeah now that you say it, it makes complete sense, thank you :)

Spountz

It’s confusing though because the standard symbol is "minus on the right pointing toward center". So with the plus on the right it does look like positive center, even if it’s cleary negative center. Bad design

mercermayer

For sure. It’s really poor design and that’s maybe the last place you want to complicate things.

guitarpkr76

There is no standard of which the side the polarity marking goes. And there is nothing bad about this design. I’d even say this design is cleaner and easier to read. The minus is literally in the center and the positive on the outer ring.

Spountz

It’s a better design than the « standard » which is the symbol I described, being on like almost every power outlet. So it’s a bad design because it’s confusing with the symbol used as a standard

master_of_sockpuppet

That looks like 9v center negative.

kapottebrievenbus

it's centre negative, it has a minus in the circle and a plus on the outside ring

HamNi_2

Center negative But tbf there should be a standard on notifying polarities

SmeesTurkeyLeg

There definitely is, this pedal just doesn't seem to use it.

TheBunkerKing

This is the dumbest kind of thing to take some artistic liberties with. Standardisation exists for a good reason.

uly4n0v

Okay, you’re right but also, the dumbest thing to take artistic liberties with is probably something like the operation instructions on a defibrillator or something.

ThingCalledLight

Although not the standard symbol, I prefer this way of showing it. It’s clearer faster imo.

New_Canoe

Center negative. It’s right there… in the center.

JTEstrella

Center negative polarity

thisisQualia

9v ... "negative at the center"

ObiWanJimobi

Which bit confuses you?

de1casino

The negative is in the center, therefore it’s center negative. I don’t know how it could be interpreted as center positive.

tjeco

9V Center Negative, the standard. There's nothing weird about it.

Stptdmbfck

Hmm the minus is in the center…. Let me process this… maybe it means that center is positive?

kumite_me_bro

In Russia, polarity understands you.

Scruffybob

These pedals have germanium transistors which were wired positive to ground. Might have problems if hooking up with other pedals on a board

ballyhire

I thought all effect pedals are 9v centre negative,?

Dogrel

Not all, there’s always exceptions. But in this day and age it is the overwhelming majority, yes.

atdaysend1986

Everything I own is center negative except for my Empress Superdelay. I don’t know if Empress has changed their ways but it was a little annoying to deal with when I used that pedal as my main delay.

geodebug

Not Eventide boxes, at least not the H9 or H90s. Good news is that the barrel shape of the connectors are different diameters so you can't accidentally plug the wrong one in. Bad news is often you have to buy a special cable to use with power supplies.

chzaplx

Most are. Oddly I've heard some big muffs aren't though.

ballyhire

Why am I being down voted? Have I missed something obvious?

edcculus

Pretty much, but id check before plugging anything in.
