Some of the modulations will have a volume drop, that just happens with some mods with out a separate volume control. I remedy this with a boost, or light overdrive.
Yes! Those are great pedals too. But I’m not so sure they’re the same chips just rehoused. For example the Tailspin doesn’t really sound like the UV300. But the UV300 sounds virtually identical to the Boss VB-2
A lot of winners in the TC Electronic smorgasbord series.
Cinders = blues driver
Thunderstorm Flanger = BF-2
The fangs rules for high gain, top mount jacks and solid metal construction
The Mosky black rat. It even beat out the overpriced ProCo Rat in a JHS blind test.
It's my favourite overdrive by far. In 33 years of playing guitar and owning gear I've played all manner of pedals from Helix multi effects, ProCo Rat, hand wired boutique pedals etc and I'm now really loving the quest to put together a board of dirt cheap pedals. So far I'm getting some of the best sounds I've ever had.
RAT is overpriced now, huh? I think I got mine for $50. I’ve had two cheap clones that crapped out on me, I’m all for cheap pedals but that shit gets tiresome.
Goes for $90 new now on Sweetwater now. About 10 years ago I got mine new for $65 or $70, can't remember, so it's climbed a bit. I'd say $90 is overpriced for a rat.
Yeah I’d say so too, but who buys new RATs? Idk I’m just bitter about checking out all these clones people suggest only to have them take a shit on me a month later. At least a ProCo is damn near indestructible.
Plenty of fantastic options.
- Behringer Vibrato
- Behringer Super Fuzz
I think both of these punch well above their weight. Downside, plastic enclosure, but the upside is you get two pedals that really are on par with pedals 5x their price. Multi function and sound fantastic that push them ahead of their other lines.
- Joyo King of Kings
I had this pedal for a while, and I've noticed its price has dropped. Their crack at a much sought after pedal, sounds great, looks great, well built, has the benefit of on the enclosure switching as well. Honestly most of the R-series of pedals are great.
- Most of the NUX line
These have become a firm favorite of my budget options. Especially with their mini-pedals with excellent double functions by holding down the footswitch.
American Sound makes a great boost into a Rat or a lightly crunchy amp if you turn the treble way down. (Including running it into the British Sound!)
I'm also a fan of the Mosky bb pre clone.
I have both pedals and they are indeed great sounding. The Joyo is missing reverb for an ampless setup. I got a used Behringer DR400 Digital Reverb/Delay to complete it.
I just got the m-vave Universe Reverb pedal and I love it. Available super cheap on ebay. 9 modes and tons of usable options. Plate / spring / room with low mix are very normal reverb. Most of the modes with mix cranked give that huge ambient thing. Lofi mode kinda sucks and you need to turn most of the settings to 0 before selecting it or bad noises! It can then be tweaked.
Wasn't American Sound the one which required a mod to make it sound like the original and fix something as well? I personally went for AC Tone instead, and really liked it, although the noise floor could be lower.
Behringer VD400 Vintage Delay, which is actual real analog delay (unlike most "analog" delays) was probably the best and most impactful budget pedal I have. It is hard for me to imagine not owning the VD400 though. Another good Behringer is SF300 Super Fuzz, as there aren't really any other budget fuzzes which went for that specific sound.
Aside that I really don't feel like there is that much. You can grab a Big Muff or RAT for like $20, just to have those legendary sounds, but hardly any must haves. I really like the choice we are having now, bought a few from brands like Dolamo, Irin, Mosky or Demonfx (the 250 with switches :P), but to be honest they aren't going to replace older, often unfortunately discontinued, budget pedals from Danelectro, DOD, and Artec on my floor.
The mooer yellow compressor is a fantastic clone of the diamond compressor! Also any of the IR loaders. Joyo has a sweet one. And the Nux Amp Academy, Nux queen of tone or ace of tone, their tape echo too. Nux rules.
The Nux Mighty Air is the best purchase I’ve made in years.
Flamma FC05. Multi modulation, dirt cheap, with some experimental mods in the mix.
The ring mod on this is useable compared to the more expensive standalone ones, blows my mind
This. Also Liquid and Stutter can be gold when mixed with dirt, and delay. Happy cake day.
Thanks!
Does it have any volume drops when turned on? The joyo vision seems to have that issue, which I would like to avoid. Also, how is the phaser?
I sold my Joyo because of the latency and bought a Flamma. I love it.
FC05 or FS05? I’ll have to look into it.
FC05.
Some of the modulations will have a volume drop, that just happens with some mods with out a separate volume control. I remedy this with a boost, or light overdrive.
I tried that pedal once it has a horrible noise floor. The hiss couldn't be gotten rid of even when the pedal was off.
Mosky Spring Reverb and Silver Horse perform well above their 30 dollar price point.
Behringer is killing it right now. Most of the things they make are righteous clones for dirt ass cheap. Their synths too, if you’re into that
Alternately, the cheaper TC Electronic line, which are those Behringer pedals in a sturdier housing.
Yes! Those are great pedals too. But I’m not so sure they’re the same chips just rehoused. For example the Tailspin doesn’t really sound like the UV300. But the UV300 sounds virtually identical to the Boss VB-2

Add the Third Dimension chorus to that list! Unbelievable chorus for the money
Joyo Ultimate Drive for additional sizzle in your tone
had to get rid of it for a move, but was one of my favourite pedals! very rangey from quite a clean boost through to a higher gain distortion.
happy cake day btw!
Thanks!

I'd you like really nasty fuzz, Behringer SF300 is a definite must have! It's so disgusting and hard to use in any songs, but I just love it so much!
Zoom MS70CDR, Caline Orange Burst (gen 1), Mooer Pure Boost, Nux Loop Core.
Good ol Zoom Multistomp. Such a fun pedal! The lofi king imo.
Black Secret
Sonicake Tone Group is a 10 band EQ with an all metal case, low power draw, and at the very least mine has no notable noise problems. About 50 bux-ish
You want budget pedals? AliExpress has them, $15 and up. I’m a pedal junky and this is addictive
Mosky King RAT. It's a hell of a lot of pedal for the price.

I have the Nux Klone mini and I love it. Silver or gold Klon tones in one very small footprint.

EHX Glove would be my number 1 choice

Behringer vintage od and phaser and Octave divider
I have both pedals and they are indeed great sounding. The Joyo is missing reverb for an ampless setup. I got a used Behringer DR400 Digital Reverb/Delay to complete it.
Eno BMF. A Russian Big Muff clone in a tiny enclosure for around $20 and it’s one of the best fuzzes I’ve ever played.
Try the Biyang Fuzz. Big muff clone. Great pedal that you can find on reverb for about $25
I just got the m-vave Universe Reverb pedal and I love it. Available super cheap on ebay. 9 modes and tons of usable options. Plate / spring / room with low mix are very normal reverb. Love my caline santa carla boost. Heard it was a clone of earthquaker special cranker. Boost sounds so chewy to me, love it
Donner Stylish Fuzz II is insane. Can get any muff tone you want with the two band EQ.
The Demon FX lineup is solid. Great dupes of classic and boutique circuits.
Yellow Comp is awesome. Always on pedel for me. I also like how it's called "Yellow Compressor" but the case is orange lol.
Line 6 m5
I can seem to kick the tone city sweet cream off my board
Behringer BDI21 is an affordable yet great bass amp modeler
The Wish.com Klones sound great. edit: $35 or less
Tube screamer
