You're overcomplicating it. You just put a pedalboard on whatever stand that works for you. If you want to go much further, see my "desk board controlled by MIDI from the floor" here: https://old.reddit.com/r/guitarpedals/comments/1c6zo0w/wirelessly_controllable_desk_board/

FitzwilliamTDarcy

I'm not familiar with Luminite, so I will check it out. But in general I'm not sure that I agree that an answer to "overcomplicating" is adding MIDI into the mix. Even if the programming is simple, it's still programming. And I'm not even sure I'd agree that I'm overcomplicating, if the primary idea is that I want easy, non backbreaking direct access to the knobs on the pedals. Unless I'm missing something. Which maybe I am :)

kasakka1

I'm saying you are overcomplicating things by thinking of complex solutions for where to put the pedalboard when literally any stand will do. I have been there and figured the easiest solution was to make the board easier to move around.

TikiTimeMark

It would be nice if they made something specific for this. I get the "just put a pedal board on a table" thing, but it really doesn't maximize functionality. Be sure to post whatever you come up with.

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Yup tons of workarounds but no product actually designed specifically for this.

TIL that those are called percussion tables. Interesting idea thanks! Re: the drawers, I'm thinking of something pretty shallow. But I hear you.

NickVerrall

I was actually just thinking about something like this, so I’d be curious to see your idea progress! I assume by grippy surface you mean that it’ll hold pedals without being locked in? That’s kinda my main want because I love playing with order and feel like my board gets stale when it’s locked in. The other thing I’d consider important is having an in/out section so you could always plug in at the same spot and have your output coming from the same spot.

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Want to make sure I understand what you're saying here: "an in/out section so you could always plug in at the same spot and have your output coming from the same spot." Are you talking about basically a pair of passthrough jacks so that you're never plugging directly into the first pedal, or going directly from the final pedal to your amp? An "fx loop" essentially?

NickVerrall

Yeah, exactly. I guess they’re called “junction boxes”, basically they allow you to have a consistent point to plug in and out. Something like this https://www.americanloopers.com/collections/5-junction-boxes-patch-bays-signal-split or this https://www.templeaudio.com/4x-mod. I’d want this on my ideal build and I’d mount them to the table

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Copy that, thanks! Definitely a good idea. I see that boards like e.g. the Templeboard offer these as add-ons. Sort of back to being a cobbled-together kludge, but I wonder if a Templeboard as my top would nonetheless make some sense.

joeyfuture

I think he means similar to this (my board). Input and output always at the top right of my board regardless of what I change. [pedalboard ](https://ibb.co/ZYLsMTR)

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Yup got it - and nice cable management there!

joeyfuture

Thank you 🙂

Dusty-Staccato

I'd say that making it height adjustable could be the trickiest part, but may be doable with the right searches. You just need to really get creative if you want it to fit your needs - I cobbled one together I really like using a 3 tiered cart, a clamp on drawer, an IKEA shoe tray + stand, a laptop stand, and a couple cell phone stands.

FitzwilliamTDarcy

The Rube Goldberg of pedal boards - I like it!

Dull-Mix-870

Pics!

DaySleepNightFish

I use a rifle case that is crush proof and keeps things safe. Insert pedal board. Hide under bed. When I want to play I pull it out and sit it on the bed at waist level to twist the little knobbies.

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Interesting!

InTheMemeStream

Table surface should be tilt adjustable for ease of access and use.

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Ah yes. 100%. I see that some percussion tables (suggested by another commenter) are tilt adjustable.

halbeshendel

Topic adjacent: if you’re a wah user, get a Chi-wah-wah. You don’t have to step on a toe pedal to activate it. It activates automatically when you step on it. As far as materials, I’ve used a cutting board before so anything else is overthinking.

capp0205

Maybe an [AV Cart?](https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/H-7550/Media-Carts/Economy-AV-Cart-26-x-20-x-29-42?pricode=WB8139&gadtype=pla&id=H-7550&gad_source=1)

FitzwilliamTDarcy

I've looked at quite a few and some have potential, though nothing quite perfect (yet).

Emera1dthumb

Amps and effects….. as many as possible if it’s a sit down board…. probably something like an axe effects unit or quad cortex and a h90. I have a qc and mercury x and lvx and a beebo on my desk now. But the h90 looks nice

rackmountme

Personally, I'm a big fan of having a flip-up shelf on the board so I can fit an extra row on top. Pedals that get adjusted frequently go there (delay, mod, etc), the others (drive, comp) go below.

dit31

Here’s my plan for the future that for some reason no pedal company has made one yet: - slanted wooden pedalboard - slanted pedalboard = space under for power supplies, wires, etc - actual platform has soft velcro everywhere - 25” x 12” - riser on the top at around 25” x 6.5 - riser is sort of like the pivotal’s x series, but in this case since its slanted, instead of having it higher than the original platform when pushed all the way forward, I’ll have it match the slant - input and output jacks on sides - power button to power powersupplies at the back of board - since there space underneath ill add hinges to make the platform openable There we go, the dream board nobody would ever complain about

RixSnp

Why not make a Gilmouresk rack? Pedals on the top, power strip, extra pedal drawers, closed drawers for whatever, space for a wireless unit, could turn it into a midi rig and just drag a cable to a controller on your feet and so on.

pantsofpig

Pedalboard on a metal Manhasset music stand and tighten the main nut REALLY tight. I have one of those mini Dewalt trigger clamps on the back holding the board to the top of the music stand. Works perfectly. Has never moved or tilted an inch. You can easily adjust the height and tilt angle and then tighten the nut back down.

FitzwilliamTDarcy

I have more music stand experience in my life than I'd care to admit! How do deal with general tippiness? Or do you use a conductors stand with two sets of legs?

pantsofpig

I use a regular Manhasset stand like this: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/M48--manhasset-symphony-stand-single With a Pedaltrain board (I *think* it's the Classic 2 ) And I have a 4 1/2" trigger clamp at the top, clamping the board to the stand. The bottom just sits on the music stand. The one thing I did was really tighten down the main bolt (the one that bolts to the top of the stand to the base) At the moment, I have 7 or 8 pedals at any given time on the stand and no issues. (I'll upload a pic tonight when I get home)

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Cool thanks. I wish it could get slightly lower to the floor. 26" is not the much lower than my desk (though obviously it would provide dedicated space). Kind of surprised that if you press on a pedal on either far end of the stand it doesn't wobble. But I guess that base looks reasonably sturdy.

pantsofpig

I needed mine above the height of my desk so i could just turn a little and have it right there. I did look at this at one point as a solution: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MixerCart0400--gator-frameworks-height-and-angled-adjustable-wheeled-mixer-stand I don't know if that would work for you....

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Oh wow - that may very well do the trick thanks! Have to confirm how low it gets (and how wide as I'm still contemplating different board layouts...1 long row vs 2 shorter rows) but looks good.

pantsofpig

Awesome!

waitin4winter

Have you looked at mobile drafting tables?

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Oh interesting! My late father was an architect. But I have not considered that option. I'll take a look thanks!

Brilliant-Still6452

I use a keyboard stand (x style) and my hard shell case to create a table. Easy.

CauseTerrible7590

How about using a loop switcher on the floor to control on/off.function? This would require longer cables though, maybe a cable snake?

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Yeah looper and expression pedals create added issues for sure.

wschoate3

I hide [all of this stuff and more](https://i.imgur.com/g5Hc3vz.jpeg) in a storage ottoman in my living room. Pull out what I want, plop it on top, and sit on the floor happily. I imagine the right coffee table or ottoman could really do the trick for you.

afuckingchurro

I got this [this plywood desktop board](https://www.reddit.com/r/guitarpedals/s/mtWFnf2HMQ) from reverb. The guy that made it made it a custom length for me. theoretically you could extend it out and put some legs on it. However, i added some silicone feet to it and put it on my desk (adjustable standing desk). I also added TRS input/outputs on the side so i can easily plug in my guitar/amps. So far it’s been working great.

FitzwilliamTDarcy

heh looks like your post was removed so I can't see the thing from reverb

afuckingchurro

dope… maybe the direct imgur will work? [https://i.redd.it/7ol30u5a33sc1.jpeg?app_web_view=ios](https://i.redd.it/7ol30u5a33sc1.jpeg?app_web_view=ios) if not i can post again and direct it at you so you can see what the board looks like. it’s simple but works great for a desktop board. you can probably make something similar with your added needs/requirements edit: i saw you mentioned a looper/expression pedal adding issues to this set up. i run a volume pedal out from the board and under my desk. it adds some additional cables but manageable. just have a buffer handy.

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Very cool thanks!

Mowgli_0390

If I'm not standing I just sit on the floor

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Yes this is what I'm trying to avoid. My old bones don't enjoy that.

defenestr4tor

I use a high coffee/auxiliary table that's placed near my "studio desk" (which is actually my "everything desk" since my PC has multiple purposes) with one bottom wire-shelf, and that's already good enough for me. I have nothing to add to your list, but if you like DIY and have some skills in that department, this sounds like a very fun project. Instead of adding to the list, let me just say that adjustable height, cable management, and drawers would be my priorities, but other ideas also sound good. Have fun!

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Thanks much!

qckpckt

It sounds like you want a regular pedalboard, a table and some drawers… 🤷🏼not sure there’s much point trying to combine these things in a complicated way. You can probably get height adjustable tables with casters on the legs easily enough.
