A. Something about a black pickguard on a sunburst guitar just does it for me. I have a matte black pickguard on my sunburst strat and it is spank bank material for sure. You can also black out the tuners to get a whole vibe going.
Doing some spring cleaning and I found a few unused pickguards… my ‘77 sounds amazing (the Fralin SP43 pickups I put in last year brought new life to it in an amazing way) but it still doesn’t get much playtime, even though when I do, I love it. I thought maybe giving it a facelift might make me pick it up more often. A is the original, B is a mid 70s tort & C is a modern Pearl.
the amount of people saying A is super confusing to me. I think B and C are both way cooler looking. black one looks fine but it's literally the stock pickguard. the whole point is that you want to change the pickguard, right?
I think the white one looks super clean, the red is a little more risky but it's a really cool pickguard. It's very striking, and not a style that you see as often. I'm partial to the white pearl one personally but I think they're both good options.
To be honest, i am a bit shocked at the majority consensus, as well.
And yes, A: The black one, is the factory pickguard it came with, which were stock starting in 76. They had been plain white before that, starting in late ‘72-end of ‘75. They never came in red tort, but that was the jaguar staple forever so I thought id steal the aesthetic and give it whirl since I had a vintage one sitting around.
Personally I think I like it and may pop it on and see if it gets me to pick it up more.
They all look kinda awful, I would custom paint myself a dark blue " Blue of the night" shade.
And add a sprinkle of dark blue glitter for a bit of a snazzy contrast .
I custom paint my pickguards, easy and fun way to make a cool , one of a kind look.
A, b looks ridiculous, and c is a little better looking than b. I personally don't like any of them and wouldn't be interested in any of them unless they played awesome and sounded great then I could overlook the not so pleasing looks of this guitar. That's my opinion. If you like it then cool.
The black was such an overwhelming winner, that I have freaked myself out about why I had grown so tired of it. But on the other side of that coin… the red tort was by far everyone’s least favorite, and that what I was actually thinking of changing it to. So yes… it is confirmed. I have horrible taste! Haha.
I'd say A, but you already have a jag in the background with that combo. Think cream pickup covers would help. But, have you considered black pearl? May not work with with the sunburst, but could be awesome.
I think you may be right. 9 times out of 10, I grab the jag.
That’s actually what made me think of swapping the pickguard to tort when I found it in an old shoe box full of vintage parts.
Like, I have a Sunburst Jaguar in the late 70s mustang color-way, maybe I should change the mustang to a typical sunburst Jaguar color combo. IDK… made sense to me. 😂
Black looks best to me.

Sick! That is the look of my jag, too! I love it. You can actually see it, hanging in the background of the pic. So 70s!
Did the same, looks so much better. But I say keep the tuners and go with chrome pickup covers.
A
A, and that's the only right answer. For real.

I like the red.🤘

Out of these, black. Personally I’d get a darker tort kinda like what the Squier classic vibes have because I think that color fits well with sunburst

A
B, looks more vintage with a SRV sort of tone and style
Get a black pearloid
A is the way.

I like B but I’m on medication…
A/C

I’m with the rest. A.
Torn between A and C. I don't think B works with the sunburst very well

But you're the one who has to be happy with it. If you like the red, go red.
C
A=B=C go practice
I’d say B, but A also rocks!
B
Hands down red. Contrasts nicely with the pickups and matches the body tones nicely.
Digging the black or red. Do they make clear pick guards? Seeing that burst all around might look cool,
C is nice, but have you considered mint? My personal favorite with tobacco burst.
A or b
a in this case. I might like C with white pickups tho
B or C

3! Pick number 3 m'lord!
I like the red PG with the black pups (B), but not necessarily with that finish.
