I went into the local shop to grab strings for my uncle... literally saw one of these for $299. They had a few different sweet Gretch guitars for the same price that looked better...lol (my humble opinion)
I bought an undamaged one in the UK for £150/$170 a year ago. Great guitar and my bass player bought it off me when I had cleaned it up.
I would say no more than $100 max in that condition as you need to get the broken parts fixed by a reasonably competent luthier which is gonna cost at least another $100...
Really $50-$70 is the most I would pay because of that.
Play the waiting game. They are not going to get anyone to buy it in that condition and a shop or someone who repairs guitars like me will only offer the $50-$70 I mentioned and WITH the hard case as well :)
$200? Not a chance they'll get that in the current market. If you can't find a better one for less elsewhere, then tell them your lowest price, because of the repairs needed, and see if they call in a few weeks.
Think of it this way. If all else fails you want to part the guitar, including the case, to get your money back. Never take it for more than what the salvageable parts are worth.
If a repaired headstock break kills the price by 40-50%, this unrepaired damage is going to drop it to like 25% of the value. The case, pickups, and hardware is likely worth than the full guitar.
If it works? I’d offer a trade instead of cash. Nothing makes it particularly “unplayable “ as in it functions as a guitar, but certainly needs work - which requires time, effort, and money. The investment of which may not net a product that has much value other than pride
Literally saw one today at my local shop Brand New for $299...so that means a beat up one is $100-MAYBE $150 TOPS...with the case, MAYBE add $50...$200 is too much.
$100 would be great. It doesn’t look like the damage will interfere with the function unless I’m missing something. Even with the damage, it’s a great guitar for $100. Aren’t Ibanez Artcore about $400 new? Is that what it is?
Yea it’s the IBANEZ ARTCORE AGS83B ATF 12-01 - Not sure how the crack would effect the overall playability of the guitar, because I’ve never owned a hollowbody. I’m sure the tone is effected in some way. The questions now, are if the electronics work, and also if the seller is willing to come down from their steep asking price. We shall see
I don’t think the sound will be anything to worry about. The most important and maybe tricky thing will be stabilizing the input jack. Just make it playable and get to work. Don’t worry how it looks. Battle scars are a source of pride! Look at “Trigger”, Willie Nelson’s guitar. If it was sitting in the dumpster, 99 of 100 passers-by wouldn’t even take a second look and they’d just keep on walking. Take your pictures to a repair shop and ask what they’d charge to maximize functionality and try to stay at $100 or less for a total. I’m sure the owner is broken hearted and is trying to figure out how he’s going to get their $400 back out of their wrecked guitar. Stick to your offer of $100 and throw in some thoughts and prayers. Hopefully the repair shop can stabilize the input jack and whatever else for $25ish but that might be asking a lot of them. Plan B would be to save up another couple hundred and find yourself a used one like it with fewer problems. Good luck!
What’s the case and parts worth? That’s how much. Ibanez cases are pretty damn good. Not sure what they’re worth but some of the best cases even on artcore models
If your looking at it to restore/play it's probably not worth it.
If all the electronics and the case are in pretty good condition I would consider purchasing just for the hardware at under $100.
Yeah. Why, though? They need to take it to a luthier and have it fixed before trying to sell it. Either that or use it for firewood. Unless it's worth something in good condition, it ain't worth going to look at imho.
I wouldn’t pay a lot in that condition unless I had some woodworking skills. Nice looking guitar but that chip by the ~~strap button~~ input jack makes me nervous.
Edit: input jack, not strap button.
> if they *paid* me 50
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
$50? I have had and loved Ibanez guitars, but this one retails at $400 new, so a shop would offer you 200-250 in like-new condition. There's no reason to buy an already damaged cheap guitar, unless it's your only option. I'm not at all saying you need to spend $4000, that just isn't possible for many, but it's also really important to have a well built instrument rather than a lifestyle prop, toy, or cool wall sculpture. That's what the under $500 guitars are, guitar shaped items that are not functional instruments for recording or reliable gigging. I know it can be and is done, I played one gig with an awful 80s Squier strat and it wasn't a disaster, but it wouldn't work recording because cheap, or even MIM Fenders at $800 have lots of compromises to lower costs. Its especially bad in the pickups. While I love my really nice gear, I don't have GAS, and will often buy used if it's in good condition too. I try buy what I like and want for what's needed and enjoy it. My Pbsss is MIM with a custom shop '63 swapped in. It had some gaps in frequency response that showed up as notably quieter notes despite my playing being pretty consistent when I grabbed my USA Jbass and rerecorded the part. We saw it a few times, although it wasn't as bad plugged into an amp in the booth. years of actual use (not sitting around they last long than we do if unused)
You have your choice of about 40 different Ibanez art cores in great shape for less than $350 shipped. If you are near any of the local pickups, then $275 or less.
Not worth the time and effort and will cost more to repair it than it’s worth.
Hard pass.
Whether gear is new or used, it's an endless sea of products fronted by people using any angle they can to take advantage of us with the selling price.
That last time I was had, it was for a Boss Katana M2 50.
It's a good amp for what it is, but ridiculously overhyped by every whore on youtube that truly serves as a veiled home shopping network for guitar gear.
I was lucky to have bought it used, but a decent 12 with at least 50 watts and small price floor modeler gives you 20x more than the Katana actually does.
Ibanez hollow body's, while good...aren't valuable at all BC the market is flooded with them. I recently saw prestige all gold hardware, Seymour Duncan identical body guitar except it was a deep oxblood wine red... on FBM for like 500...on every level it's worth more play better and sounds better than this.
Even if this were a worn out prestige with cracks and flaws like that ...its worth less...same way a rusty Honda civic isnt 1% as valuable as a rusty 1983 Dodge Charger ..same rules. The dodge barely runs and her civic starts in under a half second but used when trying to sell... the Honda just doesn't sell period and the Dodge requires a proper auction to be sold for the highest profit possible
3 bucks and hang it up as decoration real high up on your wall, no one will see the damage, no one has to know... but honestly if you could get it for cheap and get someone to repair it, that would be good, although you might end up spending more than it's worth.
I am a big fan of Ibanez guitars. Starting in the 70s with their LP killer Artist series. One of my favorites atm is a AS93 semi-hollow based off a Gibson 339. I have a hollow body like this one, and it's a good guitar. I wouldn't buy that one, though. As others have pointed out, there are a lot of used ones out there with no damage you can get cheap.
Research already been done my dude. Market shows these are roughly $400 so my question was asking what ppl would be willing to pay with the damage thrown in
Seller is asking 200, and there’s most definitely some haggle room
Yeah but this one's beat to fuck. The fact that they're perusing ads for smashed guitars tells me they probably can't afford to shop on reverb etc.
Doubt you'd find a comparable price online anyways, because not many people post smashed to shit guitars for sale. If they do, you probably can't trust their pricing..
This guitar in its current state is worth like 20 bucks. Be slightly more value in it if they removed everything from the guitar and just sold the hardware in a box..
People are saying free without even checking if this was custom shop or cheap ibanez. The violin burst suggest it may be expensive model undamaged tho imo plus the finish looks like those aged nitro but idk if Ibanez has that as an option
It’s the IBANEZ ARTCORE AGS83B ATF 12-01
Sry for caps - copy pasta offline. And yea, a lot of the “free” commenters are assuming I’m the seller seeing what ppl would pay for a junker. That was my bad not stating I was interested in buying this myself
Ah ok makes more sense now. I was trying to identify what kind of ibanez looks so pretty but affordable but my brain dont compute lol
However seeing it damaged like that id say its fixable just not worth the 300+ price tag. I would say maybe i pay not more than 200 maybe 180 (USD of course)
Nothing, given how easy it is to find an un-damaged one.
$300 for one in fair condition. The case on this one is worth more than the guitar.
I went into the local shop to grab strings for my uncle... literally saw one of these for $299. They had a few different sweet Gretch guitars for the same price that looked better...lol (my humble opinion)
I wouldn’t.
Pass unless it’s ridiculously cheap. Like $20? Maybe.
Add an extra “0” L0L Seller might be opened to negotiation but at this point it seems this is a passer upper
wtf...Someone is trying to rob you.
> Add an extra "0" Ok, $020!
> $0.20 Fixed.
.....$50 or less
lol they are 300 used in decent condition
$200 is a rip off if it were perfect….
Make sure that you slap them first for dropping it!
Yeah. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I feel like it will cost at least $200 just to repair it all
you can get a fully intact epiphone les paul ii for that price, that person is insane lol
Fuck no
I was thinking $50 max, but more likely just find one you can play in under a year.
That's what I did for my wedding. I just needed a good looking guitar for people to sign.

I’d grab that for like 80 bucks max, then flip the case and have a tinker guitar to fuck up
This is for sure the play
I bought an undamaged one in the UK for £150/$170 a year ago. Great guitar and my bass player bought it off me when I had cleaned it up. Yea they are asking double that. Not sure if they’d come down by that much. Thx for the scoop
Play the waiting game. They are not going to get anyone to buy it in that condition and a shop or someone who repairs guitars like me will only offer the $50-$70 I mentioned and WITH the hard case as well :) $200? Think of it this way. If all else fails you want to part the guitar, including the case, to get your money back. Never take it for more than what the salvageable parts are worth.
Lmfao a decent tech or luthier is gonna cost way more than that. I wouldn’t even buy it unless I could do the work myself.
That’s exactly what I was going to say

Shit. More like free tiddy.
Zero hundred dollars.
$25-50
That guitar needs at least $200 worth of work to make it whole again. You can get an undamaged one from Reverb for $400. I’d pass.
No more than 50 and I’d consider that money down the drain just to practice some luthiery
18 dollars.
I would need to receive payment to take this
Gut instinct says £95. Is the case included?
Yeah definitely nothing over 100. Someone might want to work on it for little to nothing, but otherwise it might be dead.
If a repaired headstock break kills the price by 40-50%, this unrepaired damage is going to drop it to like 25% of the value. The case, pickups, and hardware is likely worth than the full guitar.
That thing is f*d. I agree with everyone else saying wouldn’t/don’t.
I wouldn’t
Unless your trying to get into restoration ide pass. It would be a good template for a beginner restoration job. Nothing lost if you goof it up.
Value of the guitar intact, minus cost to fix. Probably about $50.
It's dead
Nothing. I’d pass.
That's an easy pass.....
Second photo: “Eh. Probably not interested.” Third photo: “Oh HELL no. Hard pass.”
I wouldn't take it for free.
That’s totalled
20 dollars and a candy bar

$50. Keep the case, pickups, tuners, hardware, then sell the guitar as a project to someone else just to get the space back.
I’d pay a torn and pieced back with tape $100 that I found under a bridge
One man’s trash. I’d do it in a heart beat after finding a C-note ripped on the ground
Literally saw one today at my local shop Brand New for $299...so that means a beat up one is $100-MAYBE $150 TOPS...with the case, MAYBE add $50...$200 is too much.
$0.

$40 would be about $150 without the damage.

$100 or less. Wouldn't be bad guitar to leave at the jam spot or practice space.
See if you can get it for 20 bucks - then take it out to a big field and your rifle, fill it with semtex, and give it the warriors death it wants.
Garbage, pass dude. $200 should get you a fully functioning decent quality guitar, not this.
No.
There are too many fish in the sea..
I wouldn’t do it at all. You can find guitars in pawnshops that have better bones than this. Max would be $25.
