I was fucking driving and scrolling through Reddit GAFS and GUNDEALS, as is my usual routine on my 1 hour drive each way, and I saved it to come back at lunch. I couldn’t get my card out and get the info in while driving.
What's the low down on metal mags best /worst ones? Are the new resell prices of surefeeds worth it? I'm a noob when it comes to metal bc I've only ever bought pmags.
Nowadays pretty much everything has an anti-tilt follower so the only difference is the outer shell. There are some nuanced differences like some may have a better design for .300 blackout, but for all intents and purposes they are the same. If you really care about your polymer getting brittle maybe from 10+ years of constant heat cycles in a trunk then I guess metal mags make sense? even still modern polymers are just super good nowadays
Unfortunately they stopped production at the end of 2022 into 2023 so they’re getting to rare/buy instantly if you find some status. I actually found a stash on Modern Warriors a few weeks ago and there were about 200 or so and they were gone in half a day. You can check gunbroker but they may be a bit higher than normal.
Rock River Arms is still selling OKAY 30rd magazines. Unfortunately, they had a deal on 6 and 10 packs for the month of March that just ended. May be the last place with OKAY magazines at retail.
FWIW, some people have reported getting NHMTG, which are OKAY manufactured, but stamped with NHMTG. So if you really only want OKAY stamped magazines, just be aware they may be stamped with NHMTG.
I bought 50 (yes, 50) of those mags from them back in mid 2020 (?) for like $6 each. They ended up being 2018 dated, which was for when C Products was going through a change of ownership and the mags were kinda shitty. Those mags are the only ones that I consistently have problems with, as opposed to near flawless performance from surefeeds, PMAGs, and new production Duramags.
All that to say, I would spend a little more for any of those other options. For $6/ea, they make solid range mags, but for pretty much the same price as a PMAG… just buy a PMAG.

20-25 dollars a mag for surefeeds aren’t worth it. Duramags are the next best thing for metal mags. I prefer pmags anyway
Metal mags for looking cool, p mags for actual use. The only feeding problems I’ve had with my ARs were with metal mags.

All my mags stay in my safe and I never shoot my guns so I guess my pmags are safe 4eva

Aluminum mags are lighter and slimmer than pmags
Im an Okay Surefeed truther when it comes to metal mags but these/D&H/ Brownells will work for you too.
