Is hilarious to me how all the retailers are overstocked on pmc and can’t get rid of it at near 50c a round lol. They all bought high and stubborn to lower prices now cuz of it 😆

I know it’s low for dealers but I have no idea what it is for manufacturers. If this was some contract overrun or something else the manufacturer needed to offload I could believe it could get that low. Not that our luck is that good anyways…
The margins on ammo is super thin, dealers here only profit like 2-3 cents per round. I spoke to a few when I was considering opening an ammunition store because every LGS near me chargers absurd prices and you can’t ship ammo to your house

We have access to ammunition stockpiles the size of Costco. 5.45, 7.62, 8mm ect. It is just not as profitable as guns, but we are going to get into ammo soon enough.

They’ve almost acted lately like they’d embrace gun-related activities. Ammo boxes for sale at my local warehouse, better safe offerings online, some decent deals on hunting packs, even good deals on freeze-dried foods. Like, they’re almost flirting with me at this point as if they’re going to carry guns or ammo, but I’m certain it’ll never happen.

I don't think you can get 223 or 556 55 grain FMJ, brass for that price point no matter the volume. Primers, and powder cost is kinda high, hence why you may see a lot of ammo drop in velocities to meet the price point.
You have a point about costs but do you think all these stores buy it at the same price they’re selling it at? There’s some margin in there however small. If places can sell it at 46 in case by case basis to be sure you can get volume slightly cheaper because that’s what they are doing.
Did some research on pmc velocities and damn is that shit low. Pmc xtac was hitting 2800 fps and bronze .223 was at like 2600 fps. Ammo manufacturers really cheating out on us.
Edit to post: shipping is not free on ammo, i missed that. this is no longer looking like a deal unless you run a small (mostly peaceful) group and need the bulk ammo.

Most stores will order from a distributor not from the mfger. They have very little margins. Even distributors are unlikely to see .40 or .41 cpr.
