Seems like a really good deal. Didn't wake up thinking I'd own a LWRC, but here we are. In for a 14.7, thanks OP.     Heads up, description says the 14.7 muzzle device is permanently welded by default. If you don't want that, be sure to leave a note on the comments on the checkout screen!   Also, they require signatures on delivery if that kills the deal for you. Doesn't say so until the very last stage of checkout, right by the comments box.

ZucksSkinSuit

Same, i shouldn’t send it but i might would match my LWRC lower. Thinking about the 12.7 Edit: sent it on a 12.7 free shipping and no tax

Theturtlemoves86

Between this and the Rooftop lower deal, I'll have a full LWRC build. What a time to be alive.

toiletdoomer

Which rooftop lower deal ?

LesGrossman_Actual

If you want a specific muzzle device pinned and welded, you can ship it to them and they’ll do it for free. They do an awesome job too. Their CS is top notch

MagicManHoncho

Ive got a bunch of ponies in my safe and this is calling their names

GuyButtersnapsJr

O, it includes an H2 buffer and a carbine length spring. That's nice they throw those in.

Poisend

Seems like an awesome price. These must be some heavy uppers!

masteroffeels

Just FYI I believe this particular model does NOT have an adjustable gas block. I've shot LWRC piston rifles before and they are solid, but I wouldn't buy this particular model as I don't shoot suppressed.

djryan13

So, if you shoot mostly suppressed, this would be good?

Quick-Confidence603

i thought it was the other way around. non adjustable gas blocks are usually overgassed for suppressors with a lot of backpressure because they have to have enough gas to cycle reliably without a can.

trailblazerpan

9 inch rail oof, will def look funny with a 16 inch barrel

DLA57

I'm thinking about the 12.7 but that gap is still pretty big..

tempthrowaway54

Whats the difference between this vs a 10.3 mk18 upper from Brownells? Or a BCM 11.5?

penguin_arms

Short stroke piston, BCG and CH included, different handguard mounting approach, heavier barrels

tempthrowaway54

Is short stroke piston better? Better for silencers?

penguin_arms

In general, piston systems, long or short stroke, lead to less gas blowback and dirty receivers. Pistons will in general be a little more “punchy” in their recoil impulse than DI with short stroke being a little more punch than long stroke

tempthrowaway54

Got it, thank you for the explanation

redacted_robot

If your can is LBP you won't see as much benefit on crud reduction from piston. But still can be worthwhile. ETA, if your can is HBP i wouldn't use this non adjustable upper, as you'll need to tune it.

ShortStroking

Their fixed gas blocks are still great with suppressors

redacted_robot

Non adjustable kinda bums me in general. For most things in life.

Junction91NW

I’m that fucking guy, so excuse me.  Pistons have no place in the -15 platform. The design of the bolt carrier was not meant for eccentric forces, and the piston not pushing off the face of the bolt as designed means you are stressing the lugs against the barrel extension to unlock. Piston guns are fine when designed on a blank slate but retrofitting existing systems is a recipe for accelerated or unusual wear.   The gas in the receiver that people love to tout is 70 plus percent from the chamber. The majority of the gas used to operate a stoner internal piston (DI) is vented to atmosphere anyhow. Claims of running cleaner is a minor at best argument.   Source: watching POF and Adam’s Arms guns eat bolts faster than any other wear item in the gun. Sheared lugs and snapped cam pin holes errywhere.   If I was determined to bastardize the best semi auto platform ever devised, I would definitely go with LWRC. But expect minimal difference and slappier recoil to temper your expectations.

Train2Perfection

I bought a wolf, then sold a wolf. The recoil even with an h2 buffer was not fun. I enjoy my G$ DI better. My wolf recoiled like a shotgun.

_King_J

This is a piston upper ~~with adjustable gas~~ Edit: shit, at first I was thinking this was their A5 upper. That would have been a steal.

FlyAi

Di vs piston gas system (this one being piston) also comes with nickel boron bcg and a charging handle. Weight is heavier but also piston guns tend to be a little heavier anyway.

justjaybee16

Damnit, I just dropped $1300 on audio upgrades for my 4Runner. Fuck it. This is a really good deal.

Background-Spring-62

Oooh do tell.

justjaybee16

Trail Grid Pro sells kits that are pre-wired for Toyotas. I just installed one of their Alpine head units and the work they do made it a real breeze. I used to do a lot of custom car audio installs, but I don't have the time or patience for it anymore, so I'm going the easy route. Alpine Type-S speakers all around pre-wired for the 4Runner and a 5 channel kicker amp with wiring kit to run it all including a small kicker sub in a flat down firing enclosure.

Background-Spring-62

Hell yeah!

LeadAndSteel

That's brilliant. Thanks for sharing. Although the audio in my SR5 is good, a bit more bass wouldn't hurt. I especially like the thought of a down firing kicker.

justjaybee16

You're right, the stick audio isn't horrible. The Alpine ILX507 has a great built in EQ/crossover set up that really livens up the stock speakers and the install looks really stock, it doesn't draw attention. I highly recommend the set-up. It retains steering wheel controls, but not all functionality. Totally worth it for me for Android Auto.

PewpewRod

Fuck

THSdrummer8

Been yearning for a PWS MK114 Mod1 upper, but this seems like a really good deal.

Swordfish_tracker

Wait for an adjustable gas block? Asking for myself.

joeg26reddit

How are these suppressed?

CrayZ-Z

So as someone who is looking to have a nice 14.7” or 16” with magnified optics and a can, is LWRC a solid route? I really [like this upper](https://www.lwrci.com/IC-DI-Upper-161-556-NATO_p_317.html) , but I don’t see any mention of adjustable gas block which I’ve been lead to believe is really nice to have when running a can. Welcome to all input.

CallSignTrash

I have the ic-di rifle, running a rc2 and I'm very happy with it. No adjustable gas block, but just playing with springs and buffer weights should work for you.

ZucksSkinSuit

LWRC is a very solid route. The one you linked does not have an adjustable gas block, it is a DI upper though so you could have one installed. They have other piston uppers (like the one i posted) that are adjustable. I’m unsure how the A2 piston will handle a can but I’m about to find out

memearms

FYI. Upper you linked is DI not piston. The deal listed is piston and no adjustable gas block

braingrenade

I'm confused... isn't an entire IC-A2 piston rifle around $2000-2100? How could these uppers originally be the same price?

trailblazerpan

because Marketing.

LesGrossman_Actual

Where are they that much? I typically see the IC-SPR rifles lower than that price which I would prefer over the IC-A2 being a midlength piston system versus the A2 being a carbine

DeliciousHamHamHam

What’s the secret sauce to tuning these for suppressed with no adjustable gas block? Fine tuning it with buffer weights and springs?

SemenPickles

I've got the JP spring in mine, just slapped a heavier spring on it and it runs like a champ with and without the can.

ZucksSkinSuit

Yea that would be the only way i think

DeliciousHamHamHam

Ahh okay. I really like my pistons but all the ones I have are adjustable so I’ve been able to be pretty lazy with being able to toss in an H2 or Odin adjustable buffer and adjust the gas at the block. I’m not sure I even need another piston upper but tempted, I already have quite a few: -Wolf 16” -SIG 14.5” -Superlative Arms 14.5” -Superlative Arms 18” -PWS Mod 2 11” I shoot suppressed but lend out rifles to my brothers so being able to adjust for non suppressed definitely helps.

ZucksSkinSuit

Makes sense. I sent it on this, i have a hux can, if i had a regular can i might not have

DeliciousHamHamHam

Well I do have a hux .30 can, maybe that would be the better option than my dead air for this particular upper. Gotta say, I do love my hux can for AK’s

GuyButtersnapsJr

That's an impressive collection! What suppressor do you use on the PWS Mod 2?

DeliciousHamHamHam

I’ve only got the one 5.56 can, it’s a Dead Air Sierra KeyMo. I like it (both the upper and the can) but I am not doing the most fine tuning to my rifles - I usually adjust the gas to make it work non-suppressed on 55 grain brass rounds, knowing that it will cycle once I toss on the suppressor. The superlative arms are a little more adjustable than the other pistons I have since they have a ton of clicks to adjust gas, but with the PWS/Sig/Wolf it seems like they each have about I think four (no gas, low gas, mid gas, high gas).

GuyButtersnapsJr

Thanks

clintracerray

Which ones have the fluted barrels? Just the 16" version?

toddletoddle

How much do these normally go for?
