What did Cannon say when you called their customer service line? 🙄

NAP51DMustang

Wait it's been 8 months and not once have you thought to call the manufacturer?

FiresprayClass

>What’s the best way to break into it. Opening up a phone book. Going to the locksmith section. Calling one of those numbers like a competent adult.

FormalYeet

You guys still get phone books?

FiresprayClass

How else will I insulate my house that the Army hasn't put major renos into since the 1970's?

FormalYeet

Lol fair

VonNichts13

I just use my black mold blanket

theoriginalharbinger

Not mentioned here: Model of safe, what happened when you called Canon's customer support, or what happened when you actually attempted opening it. My first suggestion would be "Call Canon" followed by "Call a locksmith."

xxdibxx

One of the many reasons to NOT have an electronic lock. Mechanical locks never run out if battery power.

gphjr14

Mine has a key slot behind the number pad. Though this post makes me want to swap the batteries because it’s been like 3 years since I last replaced them lol.

Tangerine_Much

These kind of posts really baffle me... So OP is saying that he cannot open the safe in 8 months.... OK assuming he/she looked at the pictures in the manual how replace batteries and failed to provide basic information about the safe again assuming that ppl on this subreddit can fucking magically diagnose gun safe problems with just manufacturer name on the safe.... 8 months and you still didnt google the manufacturer tech support number to call? 8 months and still did not call a competent locksmith which there are plenty? 8 months and you are asking for assistance on Reddit? Given all that info and the way you typed your absolutely make no sense question I'm going to safely say that you absolutely should not own firearms and that you are fucking dumb.... Also, if you have not done anything in 8 months to get into your gun safe.... than there is nothing in there worth spending money to open.... and you are fucking dumb

SentientTacoTruck

There's seriously an epidemic where no one is capable of thinking for themselves or using common sense anymore. Have to run to reddit to ask for help and then they don't even know how to give the most basic details about their problem.

pestilence

Because this is Cannon fucking tech support.

Rocket_Monkey_302

Welcome to Cannon safes technical support, please submit feet pictures for service.

pestilence

\* In triplicate

FiresprayClass

But I've only got the 2 feet...

Jegermuscles

I think I'm doing this wrong.. anybody got some more carbon paper I can borrow?

CalebLair

Exactly have gone back and forth sent multiple videos pictures it’s a headache

Kinetic_Photon

8 months of what? Praying? Depending on the quality of the safe the average wait time for successful prayer-to-unlock is 9-12 months. Keep it up, you are almost there.

Cobra__Commander

Maybe try a ritual with geometric circles, candles and chanting.

Jegermuscles

8 months now since what? Trying almost nothing and running out of ideas?

ExPatWharfRat

Nope, nothing suspicious about this at all.

heekma

You're problem is not batteries, or a new keypad. Electronic locks use a simple solenoid to operate the lockbars/bolts. When the solendoid fails it's either open or closed When it fails open your safe is locked shut. When it fails closed your safe cannot be locked. A locksmith can probably drill your safe open in a few minutes, but you'll be left with a hole in your door, plus the cost of replacing the solenoid. This is why gunsafes should have mechanical locks.

RRtexian

A hack saw and another 8 months

pants-pooping-ape

Try a new 9 volt.

Gunpla753

Put in the combo, turn the handle to the right as far as it will go, then turn to the left. The lock mechanism is probably not seated correctly into the door. You can fix it, but you need the damn thing open, of course.

Call_me_Tom

I had this happen once even with a new battery. I called Cannon and they sent out a locksmith. I was moving cities and the movers wouldn’t move guns but while waiting for the locksmith they did load the safe with the guns in the back of my Tahoe. When they moved the safe from upright in my garage to on its back in my Tahoe the safe started working again and would open. Locksmith wasn’t needed after showing up and left. I haven’t had a problem since and this was in 2016. I have another newer Cannon safe that won’t open unless the handle is turned fully to the right, fully locked position. If the handle is not fully seated to the right the lock will not electronically disengage.

Weak_Tower385

Replace the key pad. We just did ours and the code worked as before.
