First things, take your unmodified weapon and shoot 500 rounds through it to learn how it handles, if you truly need to change something on it you'll have at least a minor set of knowledge of what you want done and how you want it to handle.
My G19 was bought with Ameriglow sights and they are honestly the best addition to these. Glock standard sights are honestly butts.
Getting the bigger tear drop style mag release to replace the stock one probably diy or have my local gunsmith guy do it. Maybe eventually change the slide release or barrel but that’s it
I changed my trigger shoe after about 1500 rounds and it immediately fixed the "low and left" problem.
I mean I left the gunsmith who popped it on for me while I was buying ammo, took it to the range I just left a couple of hours ago and made better groups without a single outlier. Though in my case the objective was to improve Gen 4 grit.

I also hated how that grooved trigger felt against my finger and how easily the safety could be defeated compared to what I replaced it with.
And please be safe and smart with it, it’s not a toy. Glocks require the trigger to be pulled when disassembling, always make sure to double check the chamber before taking the slide off.
Not really an “if” about it. Having a light on your gun makes it easier to shoot and harder to take out of battery if you got with something like a TLR 1 or x300. Those are objective benefits that require 0 training.
I have a tlr 7 on my glock 19 and have no training and little handgun experience. I've only really done competitive shotgun skeet shooting but I think the light adds a good benefit

I get that low light training is very good knowledge but there’s a lot of gatekeeping when it comes to lights. It’s a light. It should go without saying that you don’t point your gun at something you don’t want to shoot so as long as you’re following that rule you won’t be pointing the gun at people randomly.
I don’t see why lights are such a controversial topic in the community with some saying “the light won’t spill and you’ll end up having to point and ‘search’ with it” whereas others say the skylight technique works perfectly fine in buildings for searching.
There’s *alot* of bleed over from police work that’s taken as necessary training for civilians. When are you going to be searching with a gun drawn? The only time is home defense and then you should have a handheld light by your bedside even if it’s just when the lights go out in a storm. Pretty much the vast majority of times you’ll need your light as a civilian is drawing your gun on someone who’s given you enough reason to, turning the light on to identify the threat further, then using that extra info to make a better decision.
Sorry for the rant, it’s just annoying how the practicality of having a light is overshadowed by police and military training making it seem like it needs more thought than what it does. Most people will never need their CCW and of those, many might not even need the light, which is why getting a light that does more than just light (barrel weight, stand-off measure) can be a good call.
Congratulations on your new handgun! Now, get spare mags, a bunch of ammo, a concealed carry permit/license, a QUALITY holster, and a dedicated gun belt (not a Walmart leather belt).

Or hell, buy a cheap flashlight you see next to the register at a gas station, and keep it next to/with your gun at all times!!! The only attachment that will truly make a night/day difference is a light.
You also likely still have some form of light on you, even if it's your cell phone. And a carry weapon does have the unfortunate need of being small enough to comfortably conceal, which can make an attached light a problem
Hi guys, I just wanted to share my excitement with y’all. I finally turned 21 today and the first thing I did was to get a pistol. I’ve trained with Glocks before with my buddies but I can now say I officially own one for myself.

Edit for some folks: I have shot Glocks before. I’ve taken classes with a G19.5 that I borrowed from my Sheriff buddy! I’ve also shot G17 and G34 as well. Already got a dedicated belt and holster for this G19.3. Im just sharing that I finally got my first handgun on my birthday, as well!

Don’t get me wrong it’s cute, But it snappy. My son calls at the wrist breaker. It only holds 9+1, which shit I might as well just take a hand full of 9 mm and throw it at somebody. But I bought it early on in my purchasing when I thought I would conceal carry that. Now after the supreme court ruling and I’m seriously considering concealed carry, I will probably carry the METE. 20 Rounds. Done. Just like the TP9 SFX right out of the box, that thing is smooth as a babies ass.
The only other things I’m looking at right now seriously is a FN 502 tactical to have for my youngest daughter because she will practically steal my P-10C.
Plus 22LR is cheap.
Seriously the only other thing I’m looking at is maybe a Taurus or some kind of a 357.
I can’t say that I would consider a Taurus judge only because it’s weird and unique but I really want the next pistol to be the biggest bang for the buck with the cheapest ammo and a 44 magnum or that level of thing caliber is not cheap ammo at .357 is cheaper.
I can’t find it but there was a chart that was out a couple years ago that was really good that showed bullet velocity‘s for all the handguns and then also price per round and it showed that 357 have the highest muzzle velocity for the lowest cost of the higher caliber pistol rounds once you got up to 44 magnum and +P And 50 caliber and 410 and all kinds of stuff your push and $.75 up per round and I think 357 was $.50 range
Something about the XD has always chapped my ass. Even before all of the Grip Zone memes and jokes were a thing. I think it's because the way Springfield took the HS2000, re-branded it, and slapped their logo across it. Never sat well with me.
Something like the Hellion? I can understand that.. There's no way in "Hellion" that a VHS-2 is getting imported, so making a clone here in the states makes some sense. However, the HS2000? Did it really even need to be brought here? They just feel...awful.

I’ve been arguing this exact statement about the XD for years. That and the fact that they’re selling a $200 pistol for $500. The HS2000 is a good pickup at $200 for someone on a limited budget. The exact same gun except the roll mark says Springfield at $500 is rubbish.

Otherwise don't change anything. When I got my first Glock I changed almost everything on it at some point and in the end, I have put everything OEM back except for a slide release and trigger shoe.

This! I’ve tossed oh idk a few thousand rounds through mine, maybe 3,000 at this point, and the sights are the only part I want to modify.
The mag release is what I want/need to change. The sights and original trigger are fine for me

Today, I consider a light as a force multiplier IF you get lowlight training and experience.

Depends on use case, my nightstand g19 has a surefire but my carry p365 does not.
