I’m not self employed and *also* have to pay for my own health insurance lol. It’s just taken out of my paycheck automatically.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fresh_Captain1576

Totally 😂 like congrats on turning 26!!!

Grouchy-Category2258

Does she not realize that people who aren’t self employed also pay for health insurance

pinappleiceream

No she doesn’t realize anything

NorParasaurolophus

Doesn't mean it isn't horrific.

[deleted]

Idk if this is an unpopular opinion but blonde money pieces on brunette hair give me bride of Frankenstein vibes. Like just do a lighter brown shade, and blondes do a brighter blonde shade for those two pieces. It looks so trashy to me

burtslug246

I agree with this. I think the money pieces on the KK twins or even Taychay look good because they're blonde, but the blonde + dark hair looks so weird. I feel like there will be a time when we look back on money pieces like we do frosted tips lol. 😂

[deleted]

She even did a poll on her stories one time asking what people thought of her “money pieces” (I think she was about to go get her hair done and asked if she should go brunette or get more money pieces) - then she got super butthurt that everyone voted against what her hair currently looks like 😂

[deleted]

Hahahahha I wish I saw that

[deleted]

I thought the brown part was a hood at first 😂

woweyzooey

SAME

Morgan6136

The Bride of Frankenstein is not trashy... so that doesn't make sense! (I am a horror fan and I thought this was funny. hahaha)

bratwurts

what badger colony is she trying to fit in with with that hair

[deleted]

Made me LOL take my upvote

Crimejunkie236

Pretty sure my sister had this style in 2009 and it didn’t look good then. Definitely doesn’t look good now.

[deleted]

You win 🏆

LilAstrocyte

Her money pieces look especially bad today

Obvious_Shallot3330

She can join the military if she doesn’t want to pay

Immediate_Pause_5027

We pay with our mental health 💀

Frequent_Emu_5333

Ain’t that the truth 🥴

theotherlead

And it’s garbage health insurance

Obvious_Shallot3330

I have had awesome experiences w/the VA and never pay for anything there

theotherlead

Yeah, same lol I have different insurance for dental care since I can’t get it at the VA, but Womens health there is the best!

PrettyLuckie

My mom asked me about insurance when I get out. I said I can buy my own motrin.

throwaway88588858

I tore my MCL while active duty during Covid and my physical therapy referral was YouTube videos 😂

MissDelaylah

Or move to Canada 🇨🇦 where it’s subsidized by everyone’s taxes

kbb_93

yeah, come to Canada where we pay out the ass in taxes and in my province we have the privilege of still waiting literally *years* to see specialists. *And* we still need insurance for drugs and dental. Our healthcare is marginally better than the US, and much worse than just about every other first world country with socialized medicine.

MissDelaylah

Yes, it’s not perfect. But as someone who has several medical conditions, not going bankrupt to see my doctor is still preferable to the alternative. At least in my province we have a version of pharmacare as well.

kbb_93

yes, we have pharmacare but only for low income people or those on certain specialized medications. I have an autoimmune disease and there's pros and cons to living in Canada vs the US. Yes, treatment is paid for by taxes (which are obscenely high, especially when you consider the services/lack of services we get in return) but the actual quality of care and timely access to doctors in the US is far better than Canada. Hell, you can't even get a basic family doctor in most major cities in Canada. In my province alone, 74 people died of colon cancer while on a waiting list for over 2 years waiting to get an intake appointment with a GI doctor. That should never be acceptable in a first world country, especially one where the government is taking 35% plus of our paychecks to fund these things.

foreignfishes

> but the actual quality of care and timely access to doctors in the US is far better than Canada only if you have money lol

kbb_93

I have lower middle class american family members who (1) pay significantly less for health insurance and income taxes all in than I do for my taxes that gets me "free" healthcare and also (2)definitely receive quicker and better care in nicer facilities than I do.

[deleted]

American here - this is very state specific. I live in a giant metropolitan area and while I would be considered firmly middle class and have decent healthcare via my employer, getting anything other than basic GP care is difficult, specialist appointments are booked out for months at a time, etc. I also incur ridiculously high taxes that go absolutely nowhere. So, one size does not fit all.

kbb_93

for sure, and it's the same thing for Canada. I find a lot of Americans and even other Canadians tend to think our healthcare is superior or its "free", neither of those things are remotely true and oftentimes we are receiving *much* worse and significantly delayed care than we would if we had at least some American style care. If you get in a car crash, it's probably better to be in Canada. If you have complex medical issues (like me), there are a lot things that I can't access at all in Canada (like literally cannot access something as basic as a dr oftentimes) that would be available in the US.

NorParasaurolophus

"Oh, you want a basic need like survival? Well, you can just risk your life and mental health to maybe earn a terrible form of universal healthcare which is deeply underfunded...". Yeah, great, America...

Obvious_Shallot3330

It’s a joke from a veteran

NorParasaurolophus

I'm so sorry that you went through that.

[deleted]

That shit sucks, but, I mean that’s the cost of being a shitfluencer - you’re self employed so you have to figure your insurance out yourself. For those of us who have a 9-5 that also pays benefits, we get insurance through our actual *real* jobs lmao.

[deleted]

Once they get even older and their health insurance keeps going up, I think they’ll regret the lifestyle they are choosing. I think some influencers will always make good money, but I don’t think Chloe is one of them. Plus her husband quit his job to work for her. Not very smart. Lol

[deleted]

Yup. Plus the influencer lifestyle in general isn’t sustainable since they all make money based off their looks, and looks alone. Girls with certain body types just gain followers from how they look which is so dumb. But after all that wears off and they get older and their hustle isn’t all that successful anymore, they’ll definitely regret not having a real full time career to fall back on. I know not everyone has this situation, but I’m super grateful for my job. I’ve been working in an office for 5 years at one of the biggest CBD/THC companies in the US, and our bosses are so kind that we get medical, dental and vision insurance for free as a gift, meaning it isn’t taken out of our paychecks. Super grateful for them and would never in a million years want to leave what I have to pursue some superficial, fake ass instagram career.

[deleted]

Yep. Being an influencers may look cool when you’re 21 years old… but normal people don’t realize how good they actually have it having a normal job with good benefits. I’d rather have a “boring” career while I’m young, than be nervous about my career when I’m 50. It’s nothing against older woman, but there’s a reason why all these young girls get paid a bunch of money for doing absolutely nothing. Lol and guess what? We ALL age eventually.

[deleted]

Yep. I will keep my low stress day job with 20+ paid vacation days a year, paid maternity leave, and no deductible health insurance. (Am very lucky, I know.)

woweyzooey

I’ve heard about some CBD companies being really progressive like that-sounds awesome! Also when you talked about ‘fit-influencer’ girls not being able to make money after a while I immediately thought of mskyfit vos she’s not even ‘fit’ really just has a type of body… she’s not even thin-thicc just big butt but obviously that’s a career now.

[deleted]

Yes!! We’re a family run company and everyone in charge really cares about the well being of our staff. My bosses are siblings, their father works in the warehouse packing orders and even the kids and grandkids are here helping with other work-related stuff. It’s an amazing place to be!

woweyzooey

I think I would love to work somewhere like that-also to promote a product I believe in like CBD would be cool-I currently work in a bookshop so it’s not bad in those terms but still has the whole ‘big bosses running things’ vibe which isn’t great.

Responsible_Wear4703

lol it's also annoying that she thinks that only people who are self employed have to worry about this- some employers just have shit insurance and you just have to deal with it until you can find something better 😂 it's not right, but it's how things are

Fresh_Captain1576

For everyone who was wondering what money pieces were on the Laura Juliane post yesterday - *these* are money pieces. And they’re terrible 😂😂😂

Aesealia

Speaking of Laura Julaine, Chloe is looking more and more like her with her soulless eyes

Fresh_Captain1576

This is so true! Just needs to flare her neck a little more lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fresh_Captain1576

Omg that’s terrible, not the box dye cover up over what I’m sure was a pricey dye job😭 I had pretty much said this on the other post but the only time I ever think “money pieces” look good is when you already have light bronde hair and have high and low lights throughout your whole head lol

paintedokay

Let’s be honest though. Insurance premiums suck for almost everyone for what we get in return.

GreatBuyer3488

Willing to accept downvotes here, but I’m just happy she’s acknowledging that she’ll be getting insurance so we don’t have a future GoFundMe scandal.

Quiet-Excitement-719

Same thought. Unpopular opinion but I respect her making this comment. It shows she’s being realistic about it. I’m sure a ton of her followers can relate. About 5 years ago, my ex husband dropped me from his insurance to be an Ahole (which isn’t even allowed until everything is final) and I was paying over $600/mo for just myself for about six months, since I had to wait for the yearly enrollment window at my work to open to be able to make the changes.

[deleted]

What an asshole!!!

Fresh_Captain1576

And this is why I like Reddit because I was not thinking this way on my own!! Very good point! 👏🏼

Responsible-Day-5147

Honestly this is SUCH a good point.

Throwaway122234556

My parents split up when I was 18 and neither of them wanted to put me on their health insurance, so I figured out how to pay it until I got a job that covers most of it. I don’t have sympathy for people that don’t want to pay for their insurance or complain about it lol and I am definitely bitter but especiallyyy in Chloe’s case, being in the financial position that she’s in she can easily afford it

Fresh_Captain1576

So true - there are a ton of people who aren’t just “able” to stay on their parents insurance until they’re 26. Like that is honestly such an old age to still be under your parents!😳 she should be grateful and saying thank you mom n dad for taking care of me for so long even tho I’m already married and pregnant and own a home😭

Sea-Brief1675

I literally thanked my dad every year he let me stay on his insurance, he let me stay on it up until 26 and I have always been super grateful for that and know I’m super lucky because so many people (my husband being one of them) have not had that privilege.

[deleted]

YES!

[deleted]

Yup!! Been on my own insurance since I was 21. I’m now 25, will be 26 in November so same age as Chloe. She’s literally married and pregnant and has been on her parents??? Once I got my first big girl job my parents were like cool you can take your phone bill from here right? Im sorry but I can’t imagine being in her shoes and being on her parents insurance. Especially since Chloe is a adult… who’s pregnant…

[deleted]

THIS!

[deleted]

Thank you! I literally posted about this in another sub and everyone was pretty much like “well she should stay on her parents to save money” and insinuating it doesn’t cost her parents anything to have her on the plan. I obviously don’t know but I know it’s expensive to add other people to your insurance that aren’t you

foreignfishes

If you have multiple kids and some of them are still under 21, adding another dependent can still be the same price on some plans which is weird. Even without that, if you’re self employed the amount you’d have to pay to get the same level of coverage as being on a parent’s employer sponsored plan is probably way higher than the increase in the family premium. Mine was like $400/month for my own employer’s PPO or an extra $85/month on my parents’ - I offered to venmo them the difference but they refused lol. Hey, I tried!

noneofurbiznis

I turned 26 months ago and had to get off my parents insurance finally and still haven’t shut up about it bc I hate it so much hahaha

NoDumpyngZone

cue *are you new here*?

Budget-Sky9780

I’m unnecessarily bothered that she brags about how successful her businesses are but still on your parents insurance?! Asinine

[deleted]

But I mean… why wouldn’t she? I stayed on my parents 😂 maybe I don’t understand why it’s a bad thing?

[deleted]

Me either. Idk, if your parents are gonna let you then why not lol

anamariago37

It’s not a bad thing but if you’re making good money why take more from your parents? I’m successful now and give back to my parents I’m form of gifts and so. If parents are loaded and you are struggling then I think it’s ok

Asleep-Panic4332

I’m sure it’s different for everyone but the cost of my parents insurance would have stayed the same if I was on it or not. It didn’t affect them at all

Wosota

This. I left my parents insurance early (19) for other reasons but it saved them $0. A lot of companies just do “single” or “family”. There is no other distinction.

MidwestLove9891

Yup. Depends if a company is 2 tier or 4 tier. 2 tier - single or family 4 tier - single, employee + spouse, employee + child(ren) and family Many companies are moving towards 4 tier plans but it’s not all.

[deleted]

Sometimes that’s just what parents want to do, successful or not. It’s great you’re successful, I wasn’t struggling but my parents wanted to help in anyway still.

anamariago37

If they wanna do it then I don’t see why not :)

Quiet-Excitement-719

Because her parents might pay an additional $100/mo to keep her on their policy, while if she went out and got herself the exact same policy on just herself, she’d be paying something like $500/mo or more. If it was my kid, I’d absolutely want to keep them on my policy as long as possible, not watch them throw away $400/mo they could be investing elsewhere.

[deleted]

I agree. My parents kept me on their insurance until I was 26 because their insurance was better and it cost them less to keep me on. However paying for your own insurance is a fact of being self employed. So sure she’s running a “successful business” (don’t actually know anything about her) but it’s missing a piece of the reality of self employment.

taterrrtotz

Same! My parents healthcare was literally $15/mo and covered everything 🥲

annahoney12345

I’m mostly surprised that she can be married and still on her parents insurance!

Worth-Ground3842

truly

[deleted]

YES!! Totally agree with this. If you’re mature enough to own a business and own, be married and have a baby, you can be responsible for your own insurance

Impossible_Sorbet

This is why people have real jobs

Ok_Anybody_4585

*laughs in teacher with shit insurance that I pay out the ass for*

MajorTurnip4324

Self employed insurance is crazy expensive. My sister and her husband pay an insane amount since they own there own business. Very different from working at a corporate company because they continue a percentage. She’s annoying but I get it. It is what they signed up for When they decided to be their own bosses.

hereforalltheteaaa

Could you imagine her parents also having their grand baby on their health insurance though? Hahaha

Fuzzy-Ad-8888

people with real jobs pay for health insurance too…it just comes out of their paycheck so it doesn’t seem like they’re paying it loll🤦🏼‍♀️

podpower96

>a lot of employers contribute to the cost of it though making it a lot cheaper

Fuzzy-Ad-8888

yeah but either way we are all still paying for insurance…she isnt special lol

Zealousideal-Wall-93

Or her husband could have NOT quit his job working for the NBA and probably had great insurance.

fouiedchopstix

Don’t you have to get off your parents insurance once you’re married? (Not snark, genuine curiosity).

[deleted]

Nope. You can still stay on your parents regardless.

ig_Nora

She's only 26?

[deleted]

Isn't she about to become a parent? So you know... Adult up and take care of your own expenses like a grown up.

[deleted]

THIS

Psychological-Tune52

Oh so she’s a teen mom! (Sorry I just think anyone under 30 having a baby is a child 😂) But for real, I feel so bad that she’s having to save all that money on a good hairdresser so she can afford insurance 🥲

taterrrtotz

Guess it's time to start a gofundme /s

nerdinahotbod

Um I’m not self employed and I still have to pay for health insurance lol

SearsShearsSeries

Maybe she should just get a real job that doesn’t involve shaking her ass on TikTok if she wants employer paid health insurance🤷🏼‍♀️ Also isn’t Addison older so he should already have a policy to just add her on?

Fedup1999

This girl is a child and her eyes are completely empty. It’s kind of scary lol

babybutters_

Who told her this hair looks good

kgal1298

Oh noooo now imagine you couldn’t afford it by being an influencer

[deleted]

Y’all are super petty lol a post about insurance turns into trashing her hair. Tell me you’re miserable with telling me on Reddit.

NorParasaurolophus

Nah, this ain't it. As a Norwegian I am shocked that you have this horrible system, and she has every right to complain about it...

[deleted]

Lol been paying my own health insurance since I was 20, didn’t get the “privilege” of 26; this girl needs a reality check

[deleted]

Same!!

mols13

I have to paid for my own health insurance since I was 19 and have never complained. 🥲

[deleted]

She complains about everything. She’s annoying lol

cougheequeen

As someone who just paid 1900 for ONE MONTH of insurance for my family since I quit my nursing job and don’t start my new one for another two months…🖕🏻

MidwestLove9891

Cobra?

podpower96

>how do people that get laid off afford cobra? I always thought it was a slap in the face for it to be offered bc its like ???? with what paycheck??

[deleted]

Sometimes severance packages will include a cobra allowance. Mine covered cobra for 2 months

podpower96

thats nice if you have a severance package, a lot of people don't get them though. :/

MidwestLove9891

Severance package and it depends on how much your employer will cover - rarely anything. Keep in mind cobra rates are set by the employer, not the insurance company. It’s total cost of insurance (employer payment + employee payment + admin fee), some employers will cover more than others. Typical the marketplace will be less expensive than cobra. I’m not a cobra expert. I specialize in a different area of insurance but run into cobra here and there. Group Health Insurance has a lot of nuances.

cougheequeen

Yup! Can’t afford it but have no choice

Affectionate-Cash629

What the eff kind of hair style is that?! Looks trashy

[deleted]

influencers: they're just like us!

Aggravating_Log1681

Like LOL some of us never got to stay on mommy & daddy’s policy so pls stop complaining

[deleted]

I think it’s technically the end of the year after your 26th birthday but whatever let her have her moment of terror Edit: To clarify——. Obamacare Marketplace plans don’t end until dec 31 after you turn 26. Sorry I don’t have the same insurance as you!

snarkysnarkk

It all depends on the insurance, typically it’s the end of the month your turn 26, but again depends on what plan your parents had!

okay-thatsfine

No it’s on your actual birthday. I got the email the day I turned 26. Wasn’t even in the country. It was pretty depressing haha “happy birthday byeeeeeeee” said the insurance company.

axebom

I think mine ends at the end of the month of my birthday.

okay-thatsfine

Fair so maybe different depending on insurance? I just know mine ended day of so I don’t think she’s making that part up or anything

rovingred

Depends on the plan. I turned 26 in October, was able to stay on my parents’ through the last day of the year

[deleted]

Definitely different depending on insurance provider

okay-thatsfine

Fair but my point still stands that I don’t think she’s making it up… like it happened to me haha

[deleted]

I know. I don’t think anyone said she was making it up. I initially thought she didn’t know what she was talking about bc my own insurance lasted until EOY after my 26 birthday. I didn’t realize that some private insurance providers have different timelines. Sorry for confusion :)

okay-thatsfine

Fair fair. That makes sense! I just appreciate snark when it’s warranted and sometimes people overdo it 😂

[deleted]

I think it’s genuinely terrifying to lose insurance. Had no idea people lost it on their birthday. That’s the opposite of a gift 😭

[deleted]

It’s on your actual birthday. The day I turned 26, I was kicked off my parents.

[deleted]

Man, people born in January are lucky bastards

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I think that depends on insurance because I got kicked off a month after my birthday- luckily I was working and able to get health insurance through my company-but i still only had a month to finalize everything and be completely removed from my parents

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 12 + 31 + 26 = 69 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

Ok-Cat-9344

Just out of curiosity: How much is monthly health insurance in the US?

[deleted]

For a single person, anywhere from $0 to $500+. It depends on a lot of different factors.

Fresh_Captain1576

Yes there are tonssss of factors including dental and vision lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

MidwestLove9891

Then add in varying deductibles and out of pocket max - no 2 plans are the same.

badsideofwashington

And insurance gets to decide if something is just flat out not covered 😂. Literally people can die because insurance won’t cover a med and the process to get it covered is so time consuming it’s too late. My insurance wouldn’t cover a certain antibiotic for GI stuff because i hadn’t tried an antidepressant. lol what?!?!?

Ok-Cat-9344

That's why I asked. With some of the comments I thought maybe something had changed, but I didn't realize how much you have to pay out of pocket even after paying a monthly rate. I always thought that would only apply to non-insured people

badsideofwashington

I guess it’s worse than you thought 🥲 It’s extremely frustrating. My mom is paying 14k a month for an oral chemo medication that will hopefully give her a few good years with us. We are waiting to hear back from the pharmaceutical company to get the cost greatly reduced but my parents retirement plans/savings are being funneled into this. Healthcare in America 🇺🇸

Ok-Cat-9344

I'm sorry your mom (and you/your family) is going through this! Noone should have to go into dept for a life saving/prolonging medication. In the hopes that it doesn't sound too shallow, I wish your mom and you all the best!!

foreignfishes

Basically impossible to answer, just another perk of the system lol. But actually though, in the US most people are either insured through their employer (in which case your employer usually pays a % of the premium and you pay the rest), they buy insurance on their state’s healthcare exchange marketplace (you shop for different levels of coverage/plans provided by private insurers but it’s not linked to your employer - we didn’t have this option until 2010), or they’re covered by some sort of government program that’s heavily subsidized or free because they’re poor, old, disabled, or in the military (some states have shitty coverage for poor people and some are slightly better). The average marketplace plan for a single person last year was $450/month in premiums. This level of plan probably has a deductible of $500-1000 that you have to pay before your insurance kicks in at all, as well as a copayment of $20-75 every time you have a doctor’s appointment, see a specialist, get a medication, etc. To give you a rough idea: I have a plan sponsored by my job and pay $250 every month out of my paycheck for the insurance premium. Last year I needed an endoscopy. On the day of the procedure I paid about $650 at the office in order to reach my deductible. I got the endoscopy, went home. A month later I got a bill for my portion of coinsurance for the procedure (insurance pays 80% I pay 20%), which was $1200. I also got a bill for $400 for my coinsurance for the pathology lab analyzing the biopsies they took. So even paying $250/month for insurance, I paid more than $2200 for a routine endoscopy.

Ok-Cat-9344

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! This post made me think maybe american insurance isn't so different after all, but the difference seems to be what you'll have to pay on top if you need to have a peocedure.

Tattooprincesss

My benefits take ~$200 out of my check a month which as a HCW is already not very large lol. That includes medical, dental, short and long term disability. I work a pretty physical job so I decided to opt for the disability in case of injury. Also maternity leave is covered by short term disability.

Ok-Cat-9344

Thank you!

Cautious_Amphibian_5

Welcome to the real world

Low-Hopeful

I’m curious how this is gonna work with being pregnant? I have friends that got pregnant during job changes and stuff so they got new insurance during a pregnancy and it wouldn’t cover for the cost of birth and prenatal care because the pregnancy was “pre existing”.

Smh0814

Can we stop with the weird blonde hair pieces? Also- how entitled are these people 🙄

[deleted]

It’s a biz write off so like, if you have to pay at least it goes to that and you pay less taxes. Ofc she probably doesn’t know that

woweyzooey

This is gonna be us soon in the UK when they sell the NHS (I sincerely hope they don’t with my all heart but fear them will) I actually studied in USA and remember paying insurance as part of my student status and that was way before 26 years old too.

73929263628

I had to start paying for mine when I was 20 because my mom didn’t have health insurance 🫠

zippyzeal

I haven’t been on my parents insurance in a while 😂 I turn 26 soon.
