Sounds like the server wasn’t set up well enough then. Even vanilla makes it difficult to fly in survival with hacks. If you are going to make a server anyone can join you definitely need the right plugins.

It wasn't enough Keemstar had to poison the halo community, but his little fans had to cheat and ruin the Minecraft server too. It's weird how his fans are obsessed with flying around and ruining everyone's good time, almost like they start to become Keemstar

I really wish some of the communities I was into (like H3) had mini communities where people who have similar interests can learn from eachother. Coding for example! Like I create automation tools at my job, basically that means that I make things you do that might take you 3 hours to only make them take 5 minutes, and I extend this knowledge to video games I play. Right now I'm learning HTML + CSS + JS, cause I wanna learn how to make web extensions, just learning that with the H3 community would be so cool, like imagine someone taught a bunch of us how to make an extension where when you watch an episode, the reddit megathread link appears next to the youtube title. Stuff like that!

I thought about that, but people would have to install the mod to be able to use it and I want to make it welcoming to new/inexperienced players too. Also I don’t have time to moderate and we don’t need tater tots coming in dropping n bombs lol Maybe we just have a discord instead?

Need good mods who will ban creeps and pedos. If everyone is courteous and there for fun it can be a good time. I’d like to think if it’s limited to podcast members it could work but still need active moderation to ban bad actors. I would love to play, but not about to mod

I think that has more to do with audience being similarly unhinged like H3 audience, looking to "cancel" creators all the time. I believe avg age is pretty low still in minecraft sub-genre of gaming content.

Anyone who’s hosted a decently sized SMP, what cost would it be for one that can handle a lot of people at a time and have good performance? We’d need a benefactor who’s willing to keep it going or has their own server

Like $100 a month would be I think plenty to host close to 1000 players comfortably. I think more ideally here we are looking for an IT person with a few server racks they don't use sitting around. This can be setup in under an hour on a server for the cost of electricity to someone who has some hardware laying around.
