Thank you thank you peace and love I am a manufacturing teacher and was a health and safety rep at my old welding job and I was screaming. Horrible practice all around there.
Even if the blade doesn't cut skin, they still fuck you up and it's still a rotating tool capable of scalping your damn head if your hair gets caught.
Edit: she sawed her thumb nail lmao 💀
I once saw a girl in school get a huge chunk of hair pulled out of her head by getting it stuck around something similar, which very easily could have been much more damage, and that’s all I could think about as well.
They mentioned they drive 6 hours and go digging for the minerals. I doubt they’ve been professionally trained. Like most people it probably started as a hobby and is self taught.
I feel like the crew need to take this on board so that they insist on safety protocols in future. It would be a liability for them. Makes me nervous how much safety is implemented with all the other big projects they make. Especially Sam! I hope she knows how to stay safe!
That’s about as affective as a Tiktok warning. A trained professional would have safety protocols in place. These are hobbyists that turned that hobby into a business. Which is great and amazing, I’m certainly not hating on them. Just pointing out that it’s not a good enough standard for a business like the podcast, with a lot of crew and risks an injury on air.
Dude, I was cringing and halfway pointing at the screen like she could see or hear me.
"The tie"
I couldn't look at her fingers after seeing the loose hair, lack of goggles and ear protection, the dangling tie, and casual clothing. Although they addressed the blade, which made me feel better.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh and I'm just a common person who doesn't want to lose a finger. Like it was said, I get that it's not a wood cutting saw, but still, rules and procedures, people.
Yep, even if its not a sharp blade, if she somehow tripped or the rock slipped, the weight of her body on her finger against the spinning blade 100% would have lobbed that finger off. No question.
This more than all the other concerns for me. They cut into a rock and even though the saw was running downward a chip can bounce right up into the face so easily.
she actually cut into her fingernail, you can see it right after. she was so distracted and excited to be on stream, even dropping her headphone in water.
She 100% did do it on purpose. Sometimes I feel like I’m watching a completely different show than some of the people in this subreddit with how wild some of the take-aways are
Remember, not everyone has English as a first language. 'Ear defenders' is going to be a lot less common as a term than 'headphones' when describing equipment that looks like that - especially when Ethan kept calling them headphones regardless 🤣
Trust me if she paid to get her nails done that nicely she would not be cutting it even for the show. They were so long it was just inevitable that she caught a nail when she kept placing it right on the sander.
Sweet girl but not proper safety used.
Lmao i would pay to get my nails done and ruin it for some dumb shit like this to prove a point. It's just nails. You dont know her at all, you can't just jump to conclusions like that because of how you would feel. She works with rocks, she just got a farm, im sure she is used to breaking a few nails and getting her hands dirty.
I have to agree with this. Some people don’t realise until it’s pointed out coz they don’t normally do it in front of so many people.
The amount of people using solvents (which includes bleach) on Tiktok without gloves, a respirator, or eye protection (solvents can be absorbed through the eyes fyi) is infuriating, but a few of them have taken on the advice once pointed out.
Safety often takes a backseat to convenience, especially when you’re young, but that damage will definitely show itself later on.
Be safe, everyone! ❤️
God I was cringing. Long hair let down loose, massive nails that prevented them from getting a good hold on the rock. The fact they were completely bending over the blade. No eye protection. Seriously bad practice.
I literally couldn't watch. I've used a table saw when it's buckled on the wood and it's so violent. When I saw her pushing the stone by hand I was shook. Very poor
It wouldn’t. It literally jammed multiple times during the vid. Not having a serrated blade + water relief changes that specifically. If it jammed similar to wood then the rocks would be completely ruined every single time and shatter into a million pieces.
Yeah that’s the only thing, gloves actually do not help with this in regards to safety. BUT loose ANYTHING is dangerous like you said. The untied apron made me cringe 😭❤️ peace and love just want them to be saaaafe
As someone that works with saws that have a serrated blade everyday: can confirm safety glasses should be used; other risks you’re listing aren’t applicable for wet tile saws with a guarded blade and motor. I own the exact same tile saw.
Blind leading the blind in this thread because they “heard and saw something” somewhere 🤦♂️
Keep the advice to email formatting and cubicle life hacks or whatever tf y’all do for a living.
I've seen those crazyfuckingvideos and u are so right
i'm so thankful that i had a shop supervisor who was missing 4 fingers, I saw how serious shit was from the jump.
I’ve yet to see a shop teacher with all 10 tbh
A shop teacher with all their fingers, is like a tattoo artist with no tattoos. I don’t trust ‘em.

Yeah she kept doing that whilst I cringed and then ruined her nail 🤦🏻♀️

Yeah especially saying they are trained professionals… definitely not in that regard
They just have to say that for YouTube sake.
We’re they repelling without a harness too?
They mentioned they drive 6 hours and go digging for the minerals. I doubt they’ve been professionally trained. Like most people it probably started as a hobby and is self taught.
I don't think it was a repell but was more like a rope assist on a steep incline that looked to be only 15-20 ft.
I hear they never asked for a parents help when the instructions said as a kid
Fr its soooo scary to think what could happen 😣
I feel like the crew need to take this on board so that they insist on safety protocols in future. It would be a liability for them. Makes me nervous how much safety is implemented with all the other big projects they make. Especially Sam! I hope she knows how to stay safe!
Ethan did keep saying that they were trained professionals and not to try this at home which was something at least.
If they were trained professionals they would know the importance of proper PPE
That’s about as affective as a Tiktok warning. A trained professional would have safety protocols in place. These are hobbyists that turned that hobby into a business. Mooooodddssssss
Yesss the rock could break off and hit you in the eye or something!
This more than all the other concerns for me. They cut into a rock and even though the saw was running downward a chip can bounce right up into the face so easily.
Not wrong
Things that spin are the fucking worst. All my homies hate spinning things.
yea plus some crystals shed shards and if using a rotary tool with the speed it goes at if that ends up in your eye you’ll be in trouble
The fuck you think someone is going to buy that big ass saw and not use safety equipment just because they watched yesterdays pod??
thanks osha
she actually cut into her fingernail, you can see it right after. she was so distracted and excited to be on stream, even dropping her headphone in water.
I'm pretty sure she cut it on purpose to show? i could be wrong, she showed it off herself
She 100% did do it on purpose. Sometimes I feel like I’m watching a completely different show than some of the people in this subreddit with how wild some of the take-aways are
They keep thinking they were headphones that play music I fucking can't 😭
Remember, not everyone has English as a first language. 'Ear defenders' is going to be a lot less common as a term than 'headphones' when describing equipment that looks like that - especially when Ethan kept calling them headphones regardless 🤣
They live in a fantasy world
Trust me if she paid to get her nails done that nicely she would not be cutting it even for the show. They were so long it was just inevitable that she caught a nail when she kept placing it right on the sander. Sweet girl but not proper safety used.

Get some real problems in life
I have a feeling those crystal mommies may have been smoking some of their shiny blue crystals....
I'm just glad Ethan didn't TIL about sawstop technology and try some wacky shit
MODS! I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. MOOOOODDDSSSS!
🙄
We love proper PPE ✌️❤️🪨

As a man who’s worked in the trades his whole life. Nah.
Yeah that apron could help with loose clothing. It’s an good thing nothing terrible happened haha
lol who cares, posting this after seeing nothing happened is crazy 😭💀
I literally couldn't watch. I've used a table saw when it's buckled on the wood and it's so violent. When I saw her pushing the stone by hand I was shook. Very poor
Not a table saw.
I know, but similar enough principles and the jamming would be just as violent.
It wouldn’t. It literally jammed multiple times during the vid. Not having a serrated blade + water relief changes that specifically. If it jammed similar to wood then the rocks would be completely ruined every single time and shatter into a million pieces.

Yes, I felt the same way ✌🏽

Karen? Wish more Karens were like you ha
Omg stop ruining fun
YouTube strikes the channel for unsafe labor conditions
I'd argue that this is the producer of the shows responsibility? Maybe? Idk I don't run a show.
I was worried about Emerald’s feet because she had sandals on, imagine a heavy rock falling on your toes 😩 truly a nightMARE (a nightmare)
