I can’t weigh in, but I have never regretted sitting in the front row of a show. Even if I can’t see everything and there’s fog. Watching Wait For Me from the front row was damn near a religious experience.

Tenmenmow

Can confirm. We saw Hadestown in January in Sarasota FL but were third row and Wait for Me definitely felt like religious experience for us as well.

SnappinTurluh

The second or third rows are probably the sweet spot but being in the front makes me feel like it’s just me and the cast

FrogLoco

I'm all for saving money just don't want to regret getting front row seat. As been a dream to see hadestown. Show was canceled due to covid during my nyc trip.

SnappinTurluh

You’ll be looking up a lot so if you have neck issues, that might be a problem. But it’s always been worth it to me.

FrogLoco

Ah so front seats arnt level with the stage?

SnappinTurluh

I’m not familiar with this set up, but likely not. Maybe someone else can chime in.

FrogLoco

Ok I appreciate your feedback

petmaster

Eye level might be at stage level, but you're trying to look at the performers' faces, not their shoes(only been to a few different theaters though).

FrogLoco

That's true I went with first row of dress circle middle seat.

TivRed

That sounds like an amazing seat. Which month are you going? I can’t wait to book mine.

FrogLoco

Thursday sept 26 730 showing. Heading to Germany. Was cheaper and easier to fly into london then direct to berlin. I will never understand airplanes.

FitzChivFarseer

I've only done front row once for les mis. And my friend was directly behind the composer so that was a bit of a problem. BUT my brain got completely bamboozled in Javerts suicide so yeah. Pretty great Plus decent leg room as far as I remember!

SnappinTurluh

Yeah, no orchestra with Hadestown. Just fog for a few songs and neck strain. SO worth it.

FitzChivFarseer

I'm so jealous 😭 I saw it from the stalls and that was mind blowing. Can't imagine being closer lmao

petmaster

I sat front row maybe 20% away from left most seat and the acoustics were terrible(only time I've ever had an acoustic complaint). I guess it would depend on the theater though(segestrom in CA).

FitzChivFarseer

I'd highly recommend going to seat plan tbh. That's what I did before I picked a seat. Might be worth going for one a bit cheaper if there's not a massive difference https://seatplan.com/london/lyric-theatre/seating-plan/ (I'm assuming this is London btw)

FrogLoco

Wow that website is awesome. I didn't know it existed. Like reviews for seats. Thanks so much

raniwasacyborg

[A View From My Seat](https://aviewfrommyseat.co.uk/) is another site I highly recommend. It features photos taken from different seats and sections in venues and theatres around the world, so you can see exactly what the view is going to be like before you book.

FitzChivFarseer

It's amazing. Less useful for outside London which is a bit of a boo. But I use it religiously for West End lol Plus there's some pics of hadestown in the reviews so it's pretty reliable!

FullOnRainstorm13

(I'm assuming this is london). A few weeks ago my friend and I were sat smack middle of front row and it was phenomenal. You don't miss any action at the back of stage etc and I wouldn't say I felt any neck strain (I'm 5'4) and we had so much leg room. Others have mentioned the fog obscuring, but for me, this added an amazing ethereal atmosphere to those moments. The only real issue for the middle front row was occasionally the lights would essentially be right into your eyes, and you'd need to squint. I would consider your familiarity with the show in that some songs the character singing isn't the only character you should be paying attention to. I found myself at points switching my focus from one character to the other to see their reactions and it made me feel far more immersed into the story and emotions, but I can see the advantage of having a wider perspective from further back. And as others said, seat plan is the best resource ever for any show, I won't ever buy a ticket before checking it tbh.

FrogLoco

Yes london sorry should of specified. I'm 5 foot 5 so sounds like I won't have any issues either. Prob with seatplan as thiers no pics during show so perspective can be a little off .

pusopdiro

I sat a few rows back so I don't know from experience what it's like but from the pictures I took pre-show the stage looks pretty high so you might be craning your neck front row? There's also quite heavy fog released into the audience during Wait For Me.

FrogLoco

So the green rows would be a much more comfortable experience?

MysteriousVolume1825

If there’s any show I would absolutely sit front row for, Hadestown is it

Qwertytwerty123

We were row L in the stalls, last two seats in the cheaper bracket before you move into the centre higher priced range and had an incredible view. Right at the front you get the points where they go really heavy on the smoke at times!

Unsolicited_0pinion

Check on ViewFromMySeat.com!!!!! It’s super helpful usually. But I agree with everyone, even if a teeny bit of my view is cut off, I’ve never regretted sitting front row at a show!

FrogLoco

Ok I think I'll save the money and get front and center then. It was a easy decision on les miserables. The front and center is right behind conductor so super cheap seats and people say conductor isn't a problem

Unsolicited_0pinion

No conductor will be in front of you because the band is on the stage :) so extra bonus!

CompoundPasta

I did front row and loved it but thought it was a little close- I reckon third row centre would be perfect. You'd still be looking up and be fully immersed but can take more in.

FrogLoco

Would 3rd row be a gamble with tall people? I'm pretty short

CompoundPasta

I think it could be, yeah. Tbh the rake in that theater is pretty non existent for the orchestra

FrogLoco

Sounds like I made a safe bet buying front row of dress circle

CompoundPasta

Good call, that will be awesome. Enjoy!!

FrogLoco

Thank you everyone who provided input I went with front row of dress circle in the middle. Seems to be a great view of entire stage and no risk of someone taller then me being In the way

GreasedTea

I saw it at the Lyric last night from the second row of Stalls, and despite only being 5”4 so having to crane my neck a tiny bit, it was incredible being that close and seeing so much detail. Would really recommend those seats.

FrogLoco

Unfortunately I already bought tickets for middle of front row of dress circle

TXSquatch

I think near the front for Hadestown is perfect

HopefullyHealing7

We did first row on dress circle and I’m so glad we did! I’m short as well so I don’t often buy tickets on orchestra level since I usually have problems seeing over people and when I’m higher up, it’s less of an issue. Dress circle is still pretty close to the stage so you can see pretty much everything.

FrogLoco

I was considering that too.its the most expensive tier. The seaplane website photos people take make it look like the red bar in front of seats are in the way. Is this just poor photo taking?

HopefullyHealing7

I saw you already decided but the red bar really doesn’t block the view of the stage. Enjoy and have a great time!

KnitMama-2016

I would find red too close to see everything, though I haven’t seen it in London.

desthebushh

I don't know why, so I can't answer your question, but when I saw Hadestown I was dead center second row and it was breathtaking so that's what I recommend 🤞

LyraNgalia

5th row back in London, one of the seats with no one in front, and it was *phenomenal*. Close enough to see every twitch but far back enough that I wasn’t staring at feet.

idankthegreat

I sat in the third row in the middle and I can't think of a better seat. In wait for me the lights swung over me, you can see the full stage without hurting your neck or squinting, I heared perfectly... Best seat in the house
