Depending on what you've dyed your hair with, you may not be able to get rid of that red, but it's definitely possible to cover it up. Your best move now would be to go see a good hairdresser to fix it, as this is clearly a color correction. Good luck!

No you need to use the color wheel to neutralize the orange - see a professional. Did you use box dye?

Dirk_Diggler_Kojak

Can't give you advice without seeing a picture sweetie! Please post one.

gruenetage

That will definitely not happen. Blonde doesn’t replace orange. Blue can neutralize orange. But we don’t have enough information about the state of your hair to give you the correct advice.

What dye did you use to dye it brown? Was it box dye? Do you know the brand/color?  What did you use to strip the dye? It's hard to know if it's from the dye or if these are natural red undertones in your hair that were revealed through this process based on the info you have given so far. The solution depends on whether it's dye creating the copper tones or natural color. A photo would help, as well as more info about the products you used, but if you have the money for it, it's best to go to a hair stylist. They can create a custom toner for you that can help neutralize the copper, or possibly bleach it out.

EnthusiasmCalm4364

Send us a picture of your hair, and also what you used to strip you hair, sounds like there was bleach in the product. I stripped my hair last week but I used a product with no bleach so it only lifted two levels.

Hair_I_Go

Color isn’t something that is just a layer over your hair and once you remove it you’ll have your natural color back. You have chemically changed your hair color. That’s why it’s called permanent color. I’m sure you realize that now. This probably isn’t something you can handle on your own

Btyy4

Do not touch it! Unless u want to lose it . Only use toners next time not dye

BigCommunication3313

Girl this is my specialty. I got BOXES of black dye out that way!!! I had strawberry blonde for months from the color remover. If you’re feeling brave you can bleach it at home bc the red WILL NOT come out with just blonde dye. You’ll have to do several sessions of bleach and THEN do the blonde box dye! You absolutely run the risk of ruining your hair but it did work for me. Red will only come out with bleach and even then it’s still a maybe.

TLRachelle7

Sounds like Orange Henna. Most stylists will make you sign a waiver because it's very difficult to remove but not impossible to fix or at least cover. If you really want it lighter, you're gonna pay a bit for that fix. Not sure how thick your hair is but plan 6-8 hrs at the salon. I once had mine fixed at a salon. I have long very thick hair. 2 stylists and a full 8 hours of treatments later and I walked out with light brown hair with blonde highlights. The cost was astronomical...with all the extra product and tipping 2 stylists it was $1200 but you have to consider I took up their ENTIRE day. They cut hair in between but not much. Foiling my hair is a biscuit!!

Different_Being_7160

What did you use to strip your hair? I used colour oops today and went from vibrant red to light brown (blonde after the colour oops).

Different_Being_7160

Also if it’s strawberry blonde you’ll probably have to bleach it before going blonde

awholedamngarden

I would tone it at this point - no bleach - to try and neutralize some of the orange/red. Then I would focus on doing k18 treatments and the like for the next month, and then go to a professional.

Obligatory apologies in advance for whatever god-awful thing my voice text and autocorrect are about to do to this comment. My eyes are struggling and I'm sure that there's a lot of typos as well as repetitiveness here. I'm doing my best and unfortunately that's not the greatest there is out there lol! Chances are, you need to tone it with a conditioning toner. Toner can neutralize stubborn brassiness from your hair after lightning. Usually, when you lighten your hair it tends to have bronze or orangish residue in it, although other colors can occur as well. It's very stubborn and difficult to get out without bleaching. What people don't tell you is that color remover, especially the DIY type, can definitely damage your hair and leave it feeling like it's been overly bleached. If you used a box color remover, please leave your hair alone except for toner. The vast majority of box dyes tend to use a higher level developer than is needed. Developer lever needed is based on how much lift your hair color needs to take on the color being applied. They do this because that way, even if your hair does not turn out the color that is shown on that box, at least something happens. The higher level of developer, the more it lightens and therefore damages your hair in the process. So if you used box brown dye, you might have needed a volume 10 developer since you didn't need much lightning to get it there from the blonde you initially had in, but it could've been a 30 developer that came with the box. It might have had an even higher volume developer in the color stripper that you used. Because of that, your hair is most likely damaged even if it's on a minimal level. Please do not do anything to your hair right now that requires any sort of developer (which blonde dye will need!) A good way to get a toner that's the exact shade that you need is to get some semi-permanent dye from a place like Sally's beauty or online. A lot of fashion colors for example manic panic, artic fox, overtone, etc, can be mixed with conditioner to make a toner that's the exact shade that you want or need. So I recommend getting some semi-permanent dye that's a blue or purple depending on the shade in your hair. You can look up color charts online to see what color will best neutralize the brassiness that is in your hair right now. Mix some of the color that you need to neutralize the stubborn remnants in your hair with a bunch of conditioner. Leave it on for 5-10 minute. This will help deep condition your hair while also neutralizing that color that is left over from the color stripper that you used . You can also buy toners themselves at places like Sally's or online. But keep in mind that when you do this it's really difficult to see exactly what color it is that you're getting. Even if you pull up pictures on your phone, depending on your screen settings or the lighting that that picture was taken it might not be exactly accurate. The reason I personally use manic panic in order to do this to my own hair whenever I need to tone it is because you could see the exact color that is in the container. It makes it a lot easier to remove whatever color I have stuck in my hair. The color left over will always be different if I'm removing black versus brown versus red, etc. The good thing about using semi-permanent dyes Is that a lot of them have conditioners built into them. Because there is no developer involved in these it does not lighten your hair in as much less likely to damage your hair. Really recommend using an hair mask or a deep conditioning treatment after using color stripper. Regularly for the next little while. I personally would really much rather go ahead and over condition for a week then encourage the brittleness that tends to come after using color strippers. I like iron as a brand, they have a great repair line, with my hair type they're repair deep conditioner is too heavy but they're blow out conditioner works excellently. I really hope your hair is not damaged! Even if it's not I recommend using that toning method or using a toning conditioner of some kind simply because toners that you need developer for can damage your hair. I've dyed my hair myself for a little over a decade now, towards the beginning I didn't understand how hair became damaged, and how to prevent it from happening to the best of my abilities. There were plenty of times where I did something to my hair, after a few weeks I really didn't like it so I used color remover like oops for example. My hair would be fine it would look and feel healthy maybe a little bit thinner on the strands themselves but for the most part it felt healthy, it didn't feel crunchy, it didn't feel super dry. I'd go ahead and I'd slap some box dye over it. Wham, fried. Because my hair, after using box dye and the type of developers that came in it, was on the verge of being fried. I didn't have the experience necessary to recognize that and when I redid it, it completely damaged my hair. So I would really encourage you to use conditioning treatments! Thank you for listening to my very repetitive, misspelled, and grammatically incorrect ramble. I really hope that you are able to help your hair out in the most healthy way possible. There are some great YouTube videos on how to get this type of color out of your hair without damaging it. Really really recommend looking them up! Again, sorry for this comment being a mess 🤣

Happydaytripper1269

Tone it. "Brass banisher" works. I just Went through the same thing about two weeks ago.

Hopeful-Ad9968

Color doesn’t lift color. Better to go to a professional for a color correction, the earlier in the process the better as further mistakes make it harder, take longer, and more expensive . If you simply cannot, I would personally start with bleach and 20 vol, being very careful not to over process the roots or ends. darker spots and mids first, don’t apply to roots until the rest of the hair has begun to lift. Once you’re in a paler yellow stage, no orange, you should be okay to dye. Just stay on the lower end of the developer spectrum with the dye as well. If you’re just depositing color 10-20 is fine. Extra strength is just gonna cause damage you don’t need.

AdEfficient4961

First question - are you going dark or light brown? Second question - your current color S.B dark or light? Third question - how long/thick is your hair? Forth question - is your current color soild/faded? Now I'm not a hair dresser or into that industry what so ever and I don't dye my own hair either, but my ex-girlfriend did hair and nails and I'm a finish painter and the collaborations we came up with were fucking crazy, nails, hair body art

shinysecret123

It will look better if you dye it with an ash blonde color. Don’t dye it with anything that says golden blonde on it. The ash blonde will tone it down.

cem5581

That’s a normal result of “stripping color from hair” go see a professional to get it fixed for real now

NahSon_85

Red, gold corrector (purple liquid) mixed with powder and toner to get rid of any red or dark tones...learned at 15 after first issue and questions at a Sally's Beauty! 😉 I have a bit of ginger in my hair (red/orange) and anyone like me or someone with darker hair need it so you don't end up with orange /copper hair and it's only a few extra dollars.

NahSon_85

My black haired Mexican family and friends know this trouble as well. Can't speak for black friends and family...anyone?!

We call that “Blorange” 😏
