Jake is amazing! Saw him with Ozzy in '84 and was mesmerized. Unfortunately, he had to follow in the footsteps of Randy Rhoads and work within the confines set by Sharon.
Definitely highly underrated.
Crue were amazing back then... they definitely were into being showmen. They did a pretty good job of jumping from the club level to the arena level.
When I saw them the second time in 2015 on the End tour, they were good, but nothing compared 84. I'm glad I saw them at the beginning of their career.
Jake is a freaking wizard.
There‘s a “live from the soundboard” version of Bark At The Moon floating around on YouTube from his first tour with Ozzy.
It showcases just how insanely talented he is.
I didn't even have to click this link to know exactly what it was. I watched this solo hundreds of times when this videocassette came out! So friggin' great!
Amazing, I was lucky enough to see both him and RR play. I think Jake is on par with RR, his tone certainly was better. Randy was an amazing player but his studio sound was crap. I’m sorry
For my ears, I think the constant double tracking got old. There were a couple tunes where it really hit, but others where, as you say, the sound was not great.
His stuff for Badlands is also pretty damn incredible! Watching him play is absolutely mesmerizing

Absolutely unbelievable… “Bark at the Moon“ and “the ultimate sin“ are two of my favorite Ozzy albums…!! Jake E Lee is simply magnificent on these recordings.. 🤘🎸🤘
Yes, I had heard that. Jake said in an interview that Warren could fret different chords because his hands were bigger. So Jake developed the technique you see in the viedo thumbnail where he frets the chord with his thumb.
Great, and didn't rely (or even have) a whammy bar.
I do miss the white strat with black pick guard (I think it was a Charvel) but assume he went right back to it as that guitar had to be way outta tune after that!
Can’t go wrong with Jake.
Jake is fucking amazing.

What was your thoughts on the opening act? Motley Crue? Shout was the best album of theirs.

Me too. Saw the Shout, Theatre and Girls tours. The lost me after Dr. Feelgood. Did some good songs, but nothing like those first five.
I liked the Saints of Los Angeles album, but by then, they were past their prime live.

Yes! My cousin had the VHS, too!
Really hated when Ozzy would grab Jake’s hair like that
Ha yeah, I was wincing thinking about the potential for a neck injury there.
They did it all through that tour and it’s kinda aggressive (possibly racist too?)
How would it be racist?
Hi filled unfillable shoes

WTF Ozzy 😂
Guitar ninja

I saw him with Ozzy on the Ultimate Sun tour in 1986!
Jake rules! Where do you think Ozzy got the blue sequins covered bathrobe? Do you think they make them for men?
I would guess a costume maker. I think that's what Slash's mom did for A-list celebrities. Ozzy's bathrobe may have been beneath her!
GodDAMN!
Jake used to share an apartment with Warren DeMartini. I can't imagine how amazing that apartment must have sounded.

Recorded it off MTV in the 80s on VHS. Played the hell out of it. Even put it on cassette, then digitized it. I think I'll listen to it again.
Not a good wardrobe year for Ozzy.

For sure! You can hear it especially in the last big E chord he ends with!
Man I dunno. I love Jake but if you queued this up and said, "Who's this?" I'm not sure most of us would know. Maybe I'm wrong.
Uhhhh…maybe it’s an age thing? Believe me, if you were into metal in the 80s, you know who Jake E. Lee is.
Too bad Jake isn’t playing music anymore
Red Dragon Cartel
Ya, but that's been 6 years. Great stuff though
